I love a good suspense book that has you guessing who the bad guys are all the way to the end. The Threat of Exposure is about a female Texas Ranger, Gisella, and her new temporary DEA partner Brock. Somebody killed Gisella's captain and she is determined to find out who. She is pretty sure it has to do with a gang that is smuggling drugs across the border and teams up with Brock to go to the location where she believes the illegals are getting across. All they have to go off of is a black book with a bunch of codes and a map that doesn't make sense. Brock is hesitant to be partnered with a female partner, especially when he finds himself attracted to her. Danger is all around them and they seem to have a target on their backs!

This was an action packed suspense that kept me guessing all the way to the end who the bad guys were. Lynette did a great job in keeping you on your toes guessing. The characters were all well-developed and I felt myself worrying over them being hurt just like they were. Gisella is a confident, strong and Godly woman and isn't intimidated by the opinions she hears about her profession. I always love to read about a strong yet sweet woman. Brock is also wonderful! He is rugged, which is a plus, confident but stubborn and I just adored his character. They both have issues to deal with but the more this story develops the more they lean on to God to help them make the right choices.

I thought the story line was pretty unique and the suspense was great. The romance was also very sweet and I just loved the way it developed, it was clean of course which makes it even better. The spiritual threads were great; they were mild yet thought provoking. I highly recommend Threat of Exposure by Lynette Eason for all those that love Christian Suspense romance.

I received a copy of this book to read and review from the author. My review is not biased by the fact that I was given this book. I HONESTLY read and review any book whether bought or given to me. If I did not like the book I would definitely not give a rave review or recommend it.

This Love Inspired Suspense is a fast paced mystery about two people who are paired to find drug traffickers on the Mexican border. To add to the suspense, they fall in love and find a mutual desire to not only catch criminals in a town where everyone is suspect, but protect each other (in a fiercer than usual manner). They are surprised when they discover who is behind the smuggling and how it is accomplished - and I think you will be too, so I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a love interest.

Negative Content, Trigger Warnings.

A mention of a man rolling his chair around so that he sat shoulder to shoulder with a woman he was working with, and the woman gave a little jump, thinking that she was unprepared for the sudden move or the next wave of awareness that shot through her, thinking, wow, he smelled good, even after a tussle with a bad guy.

A mention of a woman going swimming, grabbing her towel and the one-piece black bathing suit she never left home without.

A teenage waitress is waiting on a man and woman's table, and flirts with the man(he single), and the woman say, "She's a teenager?" And the man laughed as he watched the waitress, saying, "She does seem older, doesn't she?" And the woman says, "Well, she's not, so you might want to keep that in mind." The man frowned at her, thinking, did she really think he was that low? But before he could ask, she said, " I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. Even though she was flirting with you, you did nothing to encourage it." And it says the heat in her cheeks mollified him.

A man looks a woman up and down in a way that sent ripples of disgust through her.

A old man was thought of as a "old geezer".

A mention of a man standing close to a woman, and her feeling his breathe on her cheek, and when she asked him to get something out of the car, he said, "Yes, ma'am, why don't I do just that?" And he shot her a knowing smile and she felt her flush burn hotter.

A mention of a man telling a woman, "I like the perfume you have on now as opposed to Eau du Dumpster. Makes me think of things like roses and candles." And the a flush that popped out on her olive-toned cheeks made him grin. The woman didn't commenting on a his obvious flirtation, and the man thought that he probably shouldn't be flirting with her anyway. Not if he didn't want his heart to get broken into a million pieces.

A potential informant is killed.

A woman remembers her teenager brother dies of a overdose (years before the book starts), saying, "We were at a party. I followed him when we snuck out of the house." Then she shot him a wry look, saying, "And yes, he was sneaking out of the house at eighteen. If you knew my parents, you would understand that it was better to sneak out then face the inquisition." The man she was talking to nodd, saying, "I get it. The old 'You live under my roof, you follow my rules' dictatorship?" She then replied, "Oh, yeah. Totally."

(It's a Dad and Mom's job to look out for and to guide and to guard their children, even when the children think they know best, it doesn't mean that they do.

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
(Proverbs 22:6 KJV). It's not "dictatorship" for parents to not want their kids to leave the house until they get older, they are looking out for them.) She shrugged, and continued, "when he (her brother), realized I'd followed him, he was furious. But there wasn't much he could do about it. So he basically ignored me while I watched him drink. Then-" she pulled in a deep breath "-he started snorting the white powder".

She later remembers him being on the ground. Twitching. Clutching his chest. She called 911, but it was to late. He was dead before she finished punching in the numbers.

A mention of a man laying his hand on a woman's shoulder, and later running his finger down the woman's cheek, and the woman shivered. It later mentioned the hand on her shoulder having squeezed.

It mentions that as a woman walks past a man, her shoulder brushed his chest, and his hand up to rest on her lower back as though to help escort her down the short set of stairs they were approaching.

When a man and woman are crawling for cover from gun fire, the woman sprawled out flat on the ground, so the man grabbed the back of her shirt and yanked her up.
Later, as they exited another building, the man placed a hand at the small of her back and this time the ripples of awareness that shivered up her spine didn't surprise her. From the corner of her eye, she looked at the man beside her. In a different time, a different place...he would have been a definite possibility.

When a man and woman are entering a room to look for evidence, the woman stops in the entrance of the room, and the man comes up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders, saying, "Are you going to let me in?" She shivered at his touch and moved aside to let him brush by her.

A mention of a woman, in record time, having changed into her swimsuit, and, throwing her clothes over it, she grabbed her jacket and headed toward the covered pool area.

Entering the changing room, she left her clothes hanging on the pegs then reentered the pool area.
Later after she changed, she held up the wet bathing suit saying she needed to hang it somewhere to dry.

A man says to a woman he really likes that his parents are still together and that he wants to have a marriage like theirs one day, and thinks that he needs a zipper on his mouth. Her eyes flew wide and she gaped. Her expression put him on the defensive, asking, "What?" She shrugged, saying, "I just didn't picture you as the marrying kind." He frowned at her and said, " I'm not a playboy." This time she flushed, replying, "I didn't say you were, I just..." To which he said, "Well, now you know. I want marriage and a family. One day."

A mention of a bad guy being found dead in a lake, execution style with a single bullet to the head.

A man sets down next to a woman on her hospital bed and his fingers trailed over the wound on her blanket covered leg, saying, "I could have lost you."

Another great book by Lynette Eason. This was really fun to read and real exciting. The Texas Rangers theme is probably my absolute favorite and one that I'm glad to get to add to my book shelf's.
If I had to name what cut down the rating, I'd say it was the comments about teens sneaking out of the house and not wanting to answer any questions about where they were going, and the mentions of a woman having and wearing a bathing suit (although it was a one piece, it did not say if it was revealing or not).

Ranger Gisella love her from the beginning of what she thought of .Brock
So far was numbers 1-3,against,and she was to work with him, Drugs at the Mexican.border, of which he was familiar with, and hoping he had answers for closure of it for her. It was evident that the border town didn’t want them there. Trying to figure out who the good guys were. Along with the smuggling of drugs made an interesting story. Too much romance dialog through out the story for me took away the impact of what they were doing. Life was on the line, they were seasoned officers, job would have been there focus. Other wise a good plot, from begining to the end.

THREAT OF EXPOSURE

This book has some nail biting suspense, but the main thing I enjoyed was the characters of Gisella and Brock. Sweet romance between the two of them, she a tough Texas Ranger and he a cynical DEA Agent.

This was interesting in Gisella being the Ranger in question, and the plotline was better than average, with good detective work. However, Brock's interest in Gisella came too quickly.

#5 Texas Ranger Justice

Information on a flash drive indicates Box Hill, Texas as a location. Texas Ranger Gisella Hernandez teams up with DEA Agent Brock Martin and they head to Box Hill to see if they decipher the code and find out how drugs are getting across the border.

They discover the town does not welcome strangers.

And that they are walking around with targets on their foreheads.

And that an informant wants to show them something in the graveyard.

How does it all tie together?

I loved this continuation in the Texas Ranger Justice continuity ~ & I love the fact this series is based on the Texas Rangers :).

You really do need to read these books in order as each book, while a story on its own, also has a plot which runs & develops through all the 6 books, building up to the grand finale in book 6. This means that you will not only want to read this book, but also the other 5 in the series! So if you are looking for a one off story to read, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are short of reading material & want a series to get you going, then you might want to try out this series.

#1 Daughter of Texas (Texas Ranger Justice, #1) by Terri Reed #2 Body of Evidence (Texas Ranger Justice, #2) by Lenora Worth #3 Face of Danger by Valerie Hansen

Threat of Exposure by Lynette Eason Texas Ranger Justice Book 5
Gisella Hernandez, the only female Ranger at Company D, has been sent to Boot Hill, Texas to figure out the initials that were found on Axle Hudson's flash drive. She became a Ranger to fight drugs and it's a battle that is personal to her. If only her parents could appreciate what she is fighting for rather than worrying about her. Marriage and a family are something she desires but not many men approve of a woman with a dangerous job, she found that out already. Now she is teamed up with DEA Agent Brock Martin and her protected heart has begun to beat once again. Poor timing considering the danger that is surrounding them.

Brock Martin wondered why the Ranger's would send this beautiful woman into such a dangerous job but after she saves his life, he realizes maybe she can take care of herself. As they go into Boot Hill they quickly find they are not welcome there. Whether the folks are just scared or just old fashioned unfriendly it is clear they want them gone. Between a car explosion, a ransacked room with added threats, a near drowning, a hotel clerk who is OCD, skittish waitresses and more. All of it clearly telling them to leave their town. Now.
Brock knows his job is dangerous and the undercover work was too much for his ex-fiance. Now for the first time he can remember his heart is pulling him towards a woman like never before. Gisella would understand his work but could he love a woman who puts herself in the same type of danger as he does? On the other hand, could he live without this woman? First they need to find who is smuggling drugs into the country and where. And who is willing to murder to continue doing so.

They know more about Quin Morton, the Irishman in the coma, but he is still not alert enough to tell them who killed Captain Gregory Pike. The progress continues along with more murders and mayhem along the way.

DEA Agent Brock Martin and Texas Ranger Gisella Hernandez are creating a stir, and not just between each other's emotions. Someone is not happy that they are in town. After arriving in the small border town of Boot Hill, Texas, business seems to pick up in a hurry. They are quickly made aware that not everyone in town is rolling out the Welcome Mat. In fact they are not even sure the local law enforcement is very happy to see them. However this will not dissuade them from investigating the location that the drugs are coming over the border, and who was involved with the drug smuggling. Brock's car is blown up, Gisella is nearly drowned and a witness is murdered, but Brock and Gisella press on, they will discover who is to blame for the death of Gisella's boss and who is the leader of the drug smuggling operation.
I enjoyed this book, it took me a bit to get into it, but once I got into it, I did not put it down until I finished it. The excitement of what is going to happen next will keep you reading to the end, I had figured out a few of the people involved in the crimes, but some of them were a surprise, and this book ended with some of the crime unsolved, which totally left the opening for another book in this series. I look forward to reading how the series ends. 214 pages, $5.50 US 4 stars. Discussion guide included at the end of the book.

I've been reading through the Texas Ranger Justice series this week. Threat of Exposure is another very good book. This is the story of the female ranger of the group, Gisella Henandez. She is partnered with DEA agent Brock Martin. Things get very interesting as they work on the drug related crimes connected with the murder of her boss from the first book in the series. I've enjoyed reading the books all at once.

Brock Martin isn't looking for a female cop in his life. Gisella Hernandez is looking for drug runners, not a handsome DEA agent. They both find more than they bargained for. A good story with enough suspense to keep the pages turning, enough clues to figure out the crime, and enough romantic spark to satisfy the reader's heart. Enjoyable read!

I'm not usually a big fan of shorter novels, but this book was great. The mystery was very intriguing and I thought that I had it all figured out, but I was wrong, which delighted me. :o) I love surprises at the end of a good suspense.
This book is apparently part of a series written by several different gals. I want to check out the rest of the series. It's a fun read.

I loved the fact that this book focused on Gisella, the only female ranger in the troop, and the plotline was better than average by illustrating good detective work (although that attraction could come from the fact that I watch too much NCIS). That said, Brock's interest in Gisella, with no prior knowledge of her, came about a bit too quickly.

Threat of Exposure

Book five in the Texas Ranger Justice series. Another excellent book. When Ranger Gisella Hernandez is assigned to work with DEA agent , Brock Madison, things start off on the wrong foot and their partnership is almost over before it could begin until Gisella saves Brock's life.
