55 books674 followersVairamuthu was born to Ramaswamythevar and Angammal of Mettur in a middle-class family. When he was four, the village gave way to Vaigai Dam and the family moved to Vadugapatti village, a farming community in Theni near Periyakulam.
The ambience of the village is said to have inspired him to write poems. According to him, Tamil and Rationalist movements of the sixties stimulated his poetic zeal. The speeches of Periyar & Anna, the writings of Karunanidhi and the works of eminent poets like Bharathi, Bharathidasan and Kannadasan and the life in the countryside shaped the young poet's thinking. At the age of fourteen, he was inspired by Thiruvalluvar's Thirukkural to write a Venba compilation of poetry, strictly adhering to the Yappu grammar rules of Tamil poetry.
He joined Pachaiyappa's college in Chennai where he was acclaimed as the best speaker and poet. While in his second year of B. A. and barely nineteen years of age, Vairamuthu published his maiden anthology Vaigarai Megangal. It was prescribed for study in Women's Christian College. Thus, he achieved the distinction of a student poet whose work was taken into the curriculum while he was still a student.
His second work, Thiruththi Yezhudhiya Theerpugal, in pudhu kavidhai (free verse) form was published in 1979. He made his film debut in the succeeding year when he set lyrics for Bharathiraja's Nizhalgal.

முத்துவின் ரஷ்யா பயணம்!
தமிழ் கவிகளுக்கு எப்போதும் ஒரு கெட்டப்பெயர் உண்டு - அதாவது, தமிழ் நாட்டுக்குள்ளேயே இருந்துக்கொண்டு, தமிழைப் பற்றியே புகழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பார். உலகம் அறியாமல் உளறிக்கொண்டிருப்பர்கள்!
இதை பொய்யாக்கி வைரமுத்து அவர்கள், தன் ரஷ்ய பயணத்தை எழுதி இருக்கின்றார்.
ரஷ்யாவை வர்ணிக்கும் விதம் அருமை அருமை!

Vadukapatti mudhal volgo varai by #vairamuthu

As I have recently read #volgo mudhal gangai varai , I was intrigued with this book title and took it with me during book fair without second thoughts.. And I was not disappointed.
It's vairamuthu how can it go wrong..
.
.
It's about vairamuthu's #sovietunion cultural trip during 1987 .. If we visit a place we just look for famous spots , roam about, eat the foods of the place, take a bag load of pics and return back with memories that eventually fade away with time, but when a poet like vairamuthu visits a place the outcome is a book which stands tested with time and helps thousands of people visit Russia through his eyes..

This book is just like a diary in which he jolts down the starch contrasts he observes anything and everything between the communist society and ours..
.
.
He captures everything about the country, the people, their abodes, the white nights, Statues.. I was so stroked with his experiences with myshkin museum ..

.

So it's a short (85page) ,page turner and good travel read ..

"வடுக்கபட்டி முதல் வால்கா வரை"
வைரமுத்து அவர்களின் எழுத்துக்கள் மூலமாக சோவியத் மண்ணிற்கே அழைத்து செல்கிறார்.
மாஸ்கோவின் புழுதி படியாத புனித சிலைகள்!
மேகங்களுக்கு கூடுகட்டிக் கொடுப்பதற்காகவே வீடு கட்டி வைத்திருக்கும் வீதிகள்!
இரவு மணி எட்டானபோதும் கள்லளன்று அடிக்கும் சுகமான வெயில்!
உலக சமாதானத்தை உச்சரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் கிரம்ளின் கோபுரங்கள்!
எங்கள் மொழி புரியாமல் உணர்ச்சிகளை மட்டுமே புரிந்து கொள்ளும் சோவியத் சோதரர்கள்!.
நானும் பயணித்தேன் சோவியத் நாட்டிற்கு......அருமையான பயணம்.
வைரமுத்து அவர்களின் எழுத்துக்கள் மூலமாக சோவியத் மண்ணிற்கே அழைத்து செல்கிறார்.
