Σαγκάν: ζωή στο κόκκινο

Η γαλλίδα Φρανσουάζ Σαγκάν, συγγραφέας-σύμβολο, έγινε διάσημη τόσο για τη γραφή της όσο και για τον τρόπο ζωής της. Ο απολαυστικά σκανδαλώδης αντικομφορμισμός της και συνάμα η ορμή με την οποία απομυζούσε τη ζωή μέρα με τη μέρα ενσάρκωναν τα όνειρα πολλών μεταπολεμικών γενεών.

Η καριέρα της εκτοξεύτηκε όταν σε ηλικία μόλις δεκαοχτώ ετών, το 1953, έγραψε το μυθιστόρημα "Καλημέρα θλίψη", το οποίο έκανε ρεκόρ πωλήσεων σε όλο τον κόσμο και μεταφέρθηκε στον κινηματογράφο. Ακολούθησαν πενήντα περίπου βιβλία, τα περισσότερα μυθιστορήματα, πολλά από τα οποία έγιναν επίσης μπεστ σέλερ. Παράλληλα με τη συγγραφή η Σαγκάν ζει σαν θηλυκός πλέι μπόι, διαρκώς στο κόκκινο: ξοδεύει ανεξέλεγκτα, παίζει στο καζίνο, στον ιππόδρομο, οδηγεί γρήγορα αυτοκίνητα, αγαπά όμορφους ανθρώπους, άντρες και γυναίκες, κάνει καταχρήσεις...

Η Μαρί-Ντομινίκ Λελιέβρ μιλά με τους ανθρώπους της Σαγκάν, τους φίλους της, τους στενούς της συνεργάτες, τον γιο της και μας δίνει γεμάτες μυστικά έγγραφα, θεαματικές και απροσδόκητες πράξεις, συναισθήματα και αποκαλύψεις, οι οποίες συνθέτουν μια ζωντανή βιογραφία, το πορτρέτο μιας εύθραυστης αλλά αξιαγάπητης γυναίκας.

Un livre de journaliste sur une odieuse petite bourgeoise du 17ème qui a révélé les prémices de la culture adolescente dans les 60's. On aurait aimé un peu plus de consistance, notamment autour de l'analyse stylistique de l'auteur (Pas absente du livre, juste noyée dans la déliquescence du corps saganien dans la coke et les affres de la vieillesse...

Récit plutôt confus et informe sur une vedette littéraire, une éternelle adolescente dont la vie privée n'a beaucoup d’intérêt et ne fournit pas des clés pour mieux comprendre ses textes. Lu et aussitôt oublié.

Françoise Sagan remains, in France, an icon - more than an extremely successful writer whose life embodies the myths of the fifties and the sixties, a beloved woman whose public image, made up of immense successes, and various scandals, and a shocking decline, have always kept us enraptured. Lelièvre's biography manages to capture the aura and the legend, but goes far beyond, and also depicts the real woman behind the façade. As the portrait becomes more and more complex, Sagan becomes more and more human. The end of her life is pathetic and quite heartbreaking. Everything we have never known about her is in those pages - and for the readers who have loved her novels (a lot of them are stunning and wonderful, some are pretty good, a few are a bit too hastily written - as Sagan was the first to admit), it's fascinating to discover who she really was, and to make the connection with the world, the characters, she depicted in her own stories. Sagan gained freedom at a very young age through a colossal literary success that was based on scandal: after that, she lived her life as she wanted and loved the same way, she fueled her inspiration with alcohol and drugs and speed, she became part of the French elite through the decades, she kept nourishing her undying love for literature and books in a touching way - and all along, she paid a very high price for what, from the outside, seemed a very privileged life. Sagan's triumphs and pains are written about vividly: Leliève is obviously herself inspired by her subject, and her style captures something of the inimitable charm that made Sagan such a unique character and writer.
