This is the little-known story of Jesus life -- as told by his faithful burro, Meshak. By following and serving Jesus, Meshak grows to understand the importance of the goodness that Jesus tries to inspire in people's souls. And through faith and perseverance, Meshak is able to follow his master from this world into the next...
I read this book many times when I was a preteen. I think the donkey’s view of Jesus, the relationship they had, and its understanding of the light inside of people have probably shaped some of my understanding of Christ and love for the world to this day.
I’d like to reread it now that I’m an adult and see what I think now.
Simple story about the life of Jesus narrated by a donkey that was with Jesus through his whole life. I liked the perspective of "light" being seen within each person.
#50/50BookQuest categories= holiday book, recommended by a friend, book you could read in a day, and book with an animal on the cover.
A sweet story of a burro named Meshak and his trusted companion Jesus, with some loving guidance from Mary. As Jesus fulfills his ministry we learn from him, and through Meshak’s advantage the power of faith, trusting in the light that can fill our souls, the value of lifting burdens and the benefits of following Him even when we are heavily laden.
Wow! This is a tear-jerker. But, I love how simple it is. This is a very basic story of the Savior's life, told from the point of view of his donkey. It's a great Christmas read, simply because it focuses on the Savior, and what it means to let him be part of your life. I love it! (Plus, it's really short and can be read in one sitting, which is nice during this hectic time of year.)
Oh my heavens... if you're an animal lover, and you have a heart, you'll probably cry your eyes out like my family and myself did. This is such a good book about Christ's life through his donkey's eyes. A different point of view, yes. But still so very tender.
A sweet story of our Savior, Jesus Christ told from a very different perspective. Great read at Christmas time and very appropriate to read with children of all ages!
