Sex-related homicides claim victims from all walks of life, be they men or women, lovers or strangers, elders or children. They are some of the most horrific crimes imaginable, and unlike robbery-homicides or drug-related murders, the motives behind them are often not clear-cut.
For all homicide cases, professional detectives must have practical experience in homicide investigation, but to solve sex-related murders they must also possess a keen understanding of human behavior patterns and human sexuality. With 38 years of practical and clinical experience author Vernon J. Geberth has that understanding.
The renowned investigator and author of Practical Homicide Investigation, Geberth now shares his expertise related to the unique characteristics of sex-related homicides. In Sex-Related Homicide and Death Practical and Clinical Perspectives
Jesus Christ, this book...took me 6 days to chew through its 779 pages. Every writer who wants to portray a serial killer, specifically a sexual predator (and over 60% of serial killers are, according to Geberth), should read this. However, if you're easily impressionable and can't stomach color photos of crime scenes and mutilated bodies, DO NOT READ THIS. It's brutally graphic. But if you can, the facts you'll glimpse, the torture tape transcripts and the investigative interviews and the offender diaries will be crucial to understanding how the mind of a killer works.
The author puts a lot of opinions and opinion heavy words into his analyses and descriptions; these should not be present in a book that is supposed to be informative. I find the author incapable of being subjective and the book difficult to credit, despite it's alignment with other texts I have read.
This is really one of the best print sources I've found for images and text descriptions of homicidal/suicidal sex crimes. Highly recommended for perverts and curious readers. It is extremely graphic and should be approached with some caution.
Took 2 years to finish this. All because my short span attention, I remembered thinking this is was an interesting book. Actually this is very good and informational knowing how fucked up human can be.
