It's Christmastime, and Ruby is teaching Max how to hang ornaments on the Christmas tree. But for every traditional ornament that Ruby hangs, Max hangs a silly one of his own. Brother and sister are nearly done . . . but wait! Ruby has forgotten to add the tree topper! Can Max help her save the day?
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
Rosemary Wells is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She often uses animal characters to address real human issues. Some of her most well-known characters are Max & Ruby and Timothy from Timothy Goes To School (both were later adapted into Canadian-animated preschool television series, the former’s airing on Nickelodeon (part of the Nick Jr. block) and the latter’s as part of PBS Kids on PBS).
This board book is a very brief adaptation of an episode of the TV show where Ruby wants to decorate their Christmas tree with traditional ornaments but Max keeps sneaking his odd and spooky toys onto the tree too.
We love Max and Ruby in our house, but neither my daughter or I got much pleasure out of this barely there story when she was seven.
