Neither love nor magic comes without cost.

"Foundations of Magic, Book 2"

In the relative security of Atlantic City, Lindsay feels safe for the first time in his life. He and Dane even sneak away from their mage family for the occasional date.

All that ends with the arrival of Noah, whose magic is a pure, wild fire fueled by terrible grief over the loss of his wife. To Lindsay s great surprise, he is assigned to be Noah s mentor, protector and healer. Of course, his efforts to help Noah master his immense power aren t without a few fiery slip-ups.

Just as Lindsay is rising to the challenge, word comes that Moore, the scientist who once imprisoned Lindsay, holds a young girl who has manifested a powerful new magic. The desperate mission to free her leaves Noah severely wounded, Dane captured and Lindsay in charge of those who remain.

The fate of Dane and the lives of the family rest on Lindsay s untested shoulders. He must trust in himself and his growing connection to Noah to save his lover, his friends, and everyone else who will suffer if Moore s plans go unchecked.

Do you want to participate in Generic_Author_Event?
Drop me a line, please! If you're looking for a book for donation or a blog post from me, I'm usually cool with that.
Are you going to write a sequel to Some_Book_You_Wrote?
The up front answer is no, unless the book cover indicates that it's part of a series. If there's going to be a sequel to a book, you'll know once I've signed the contract.
Who is this Dianne person?
Only the light of my life and all that rot. She e-sides here: http://www.foxwrites.com/ Without her, you wouldn't see much from me at all, not even the books that don't have her name on the cover.
Do you read your email?
All the time. I think the question you want is do I answer my email? Occasionally. Badly. I'm a terrible, terrible emailer.
You're reading X books at once?!
Only occasionally at once. I can read two books at the same time, but I get dizzy. Mostly, I just switch books depending on my mood. It's unusual for me to have less than four on the go at a time.
Do you read reviews of your books?
No, sorry! I'm here, yes, but I prefer not to read reviews (no matter how lovely they are) because once a book has left my hands and is available to the readers, my relationship to it changes. It's all grown up. :) I have a clutter of booklings to nurture so they will join the others on your shelves.
Will you read/review my book?
Sorry, but no. There are a number of reasons for this but the biggest is—I suck at doing these things. I'm a horrible procrastinator. I get wound up and then blank out what I'm supposed to do. My ADHD goes galumphing through my head like a bull in a china shop, wrecking everything.
I'm a writer and you hated/loved my book!
I'm sure you're a lovely person, either way. Please have one or both of: "I'm sorry!" or "You're welcome!"
Can I be excused now?
Of course you can! Thanks for reading.

Disappointing. Basically, two reasons this one didn't do much for me. The first is that I just don't like the addition of another lover to the equation ... it damages the good feelings I had about the original relationship. Secondly, there was too much concentration on a lot of "action"; little of it that truly interested me.

I had been looking forward to this book since I read the first one in the series, Tatterdemalion.
I loved that book! Simply loved it, because it was so intruging and exciting and new. The love was sweet and slow-paced, had time to become love instead of some fast-paced crush.

Trammel started out good, started out interesting. Started out with Noah, which was alright and then moved to Lindsay and Dane.
When the story started to focus far more on Lindsay and Noah, that was when I started to frown. I sat through, hoping with all my heart, that there would NOT be a third addition to the wonderful couple already established.
Of course, as with another favourite series of mine, my hopes were shattered. Taking in Noah made everything wrong in my case. I mean, the man was married! He is still in love with his wife and there have never been any indication of him being attracted to males at any point and suddenly he is very attracted to Lindsay and wants to have sex with him?
I'm sorry, Ms. Fox and Crow, but I just don't see that happening. Especially not when he is still mourning his wife and we saw what reaction he had to Kristan.
That Dane never did anything was also annoying. His whole: "As long as Lindsay is happy everything is fine" attitude is just wrong. He has to be possessive. I mean, letting another man sleep in your bed, you're sharing with your lover, knowing your lover is attracted to him? No.
And Lindsay never really did anything to stop his own attraction. I skipped all the intimate scenes between Noah and Lindsay, because they annoyed me to no end.
I want DANE/Lindsay, not something else. At least we can hope with Jonas's addition that Noah's focus will be somewhere else and he won't try to become more mixed up in Dane's and Lindsay's relationship.
Also, Lindsay's possessiveness over Noah is "meh" for me. I don't see Lindsay be so possessive over anyone except Dane. Suddenly he is floating into the arms of Noah in the minute his lover is gone and while he is still trying to find him, it just doesn't seem as heartfelt, as it could have been, because he starts sleeping with Noah all of sudden.

Also, not much is explained in this book and a lot of times, I am sitting in the dark, thinking about what this means and what that means, but never really getting an answer. Instead there is the focus point on this little girl no one knows and no one has heard of and Dane has to be caught - again! Is he also going to be caught in the third book?
Starting a whole new plot is alright, but not without any explanations. It's first in the end we actually get some idea about this girl's powers and that's first after almost 180 pages out of 206.
I can understand the mysteriousness and I love mysteries myself, but this is just too much. Some things have to be explained early on to hold the reader's attention, instead of confusing them, so they don't actually read the book with the same interest and excitement, as they could be doing.
But generally, I was sad to see a lot of the focus point shifting away from Dane and Lindsay. I enjoyed those two and instead it's a lot of Noah and Lindsay we see; too much, if you ask me.

I'm giving it 2.5 stars, because I really enjoy the flow of words the two authors always show, which makes way for interesting pictures in one's head. Also, even though there is very little of it, I highly enjoy the few scenes where Dane and Lindsay are together.
The story is still good, even though this sequel is not really the sequel as many of us had been expecting and hoping for.

I'm just asking; is this what we have to be expecting from the last book? More Noah and Lindsay? More kidnappings of Dane? Maybe another new mage, whose powers we won't learn until the end? Maybe even a new lover to Lindsay? Or this time Dane? Will Jonas join so it will become a foursome?

I'm sorry, but that is just not, what I at least had expected. The addition of Noah into the relationship still hurts my little heart. I love Dane and Lindsay together. They're cute as a button and I can't get enough of them, but suddenly Dane is pushed away and that is a turn, which many faithful readers may find wrong. I know, I did.

I hope everything will become more clear in the third book and that we will once again see Dane and Lindsay.

Well....I finally finished it! What a ride! I really, really like this sequel to Tatterdemalion. This book continues the journey of Dane and Lindsay. In this story things go terribly wrong leading to Dane's capture by Moore (the evil of all evils!) and introduces us to a new character, Noah. Noah is given to Lindsay by Cyrus. Lindsay is to help Noah learn to control his magic, which is fire. A very volatile magic that can and does lead to a very big "OUCH"! Plus there is a nice romance between Lindsay and Noah. *sigh* I know what your thinking! Doesn't Lindsay belong to Dane? YES! But Noah now belongs to Lindsay. So Lindsay gets to have a little romantic interest in Noah since Noah is "his". Hopefully there is a third book where we get to see a menage with these three :) Anyway, this story is very intense and exciting. The younger mages are all left to fend for themselves once they lose Dane and Cyrus. They have to find a way to get Dane back from Moore but at the same time protect themselves from her and the Hounds that she has created. It's very interesting and even scary at times. There's even a good dose of humor between young mages. I would definitely recommend this to anyone into urban fantasty, m/m romance, or action/adventure.

*sigh*
Let's see...how can I say this? Okay i liked the book. I did. I really did. I didn't like that Lindsay and Noah hooked up. What was the point of that? if there was going to be some hook up it should have been a slow simmering build. I read a few of the reviews after I read this book and I agree with them. I think it should have just stayed between Lindsay and Dane.
Don't get me wrong I do like poly couples. Heck i have a shelf on my nook full of them lol, but this just didn't work for me.
I did like that Lindsay is getting comfy with his powers. seeing as though for a little thing he is quite strong. Noah? as an individual he is a little bit of a scary character lol. He isn't a "bad" character so to speak. What I mean is that could you imagine with a spark of anger towards someone and "poof" they're up in flames? wow. I honestly think that someone else should have been "training" him.
All in all the book was okay.

Very good paranormal m/m romance in which Lindsay is given an emotionally damaged fire mage to train as all of Cyrus' people focus on trying to keep a newly aware mage out of enemy hands. While this is definitely not a cliffhanger, there are still open storylines I'd like to see tied up. A third book, Ternion, is listed on Anah Crow's website without details or dates.

Well, I actually enjoyed this book better than the first book of the series. I felt like it had a lot more action to it and loved the addition of Noah. I guess his magic gave me the showiness that I thought was missing from the first book. I like the mind magic, but I also like it when there is something visibly happening.

There were a couple of parts in this book that I had to read a couple of times to get the meaning. That, and the questions left unanswered, are probably the two things that I disliked the most about this book. There are so many things left unresolved. I just somehow think they never will be though because this book was written in 2011. I can't really see another part coming out after nine years. That is sad because (view spoiler)

Oh well, even if I don't get any more closure than this, the book left me at a good stopping place. There wasn't a cliffhanger ending. I am glad of that. I am going to keep hoping though.

3.5 rounded up. I definitely did not think it was as good as the first book, but I still really liked it. I don't really have a problem with the addition of a 3rd into the primary relationship (based on the world the authors created), but I would have preferred more of a merging between the 3. It felt like Dane was missing from too much of the book. I thought the growth of the characters stayed true and was done well. The story had some originality and was interesting, but a lot was left unanswered or was simply unclear. I certainly would not read it without the first. But if you've read the first and liked it, unless extremely sensitive to m/m/m then this one should be enjoyable too.

this book totally screwed up the basic relationship that made me adore the first book in this series. it didn't seem like much was explained, the world building was sub-par in comparison to tatterdemalion, and i kept getting hung up on things with lindsey's relationship with noah that just did not work for me.

i was left a bit cold, actually.

good descriptive writing, as always, but the story was just wrong, so wrong.

Very disappointed reading the reviews/synopsis for this sequel. I might read the third book, if the reviews/synopsis are favourable.

Beautiful! Yes, there is pain, loss and tragedy but the healing, comfort and belonging makes the rest inconsequential. Lindsay belongs to Dane as Noah belongs to Lindsay. It is as it should be.
