Executive Cari Walsh has bad luck with men. Especially her most recent Internet guy, Hayward. He’s handsome–and unexpectedly married. But when the angelic Gabriel steps in to rescue her from the lying devil, Cari discovers her luck and her life are about to change for the good.
Kate Richards lives in sunny Southern California with the wonderful husband she met online over a decade ago and a menagerie of quirky pets. She divides her time betwen the beach and the beautiful High Sierras. Kate loves hearing from readers!
The cover of this story earns three of the coveted five Real Cheddars, it's a Cheez-it® in the bodice-ripper genre. I'm glad long hair on men is sexy again. I'm not sure what the keyboard is doing there, as neither computers nor internet play. A role beyond the introductory chapters.
I didn't think I was going like this story. When it started in a less than sympathy-endearing way - the protagonist, Cari, is throwing a bit of a temper in the first page. Then she orders her admin around, something of a sin - were a male to do that it would be a High Crime. Cari grows on the reader quickly, and for the conventions of the genre is a remarkably realistic woman.
Cari is apparently an executive of some sort, as there are brief mentions of mergers and acquisitions. Her office is a stage set and her career isn't a plot element itself. I respect the way the author avoids dropping brand names or obsessing about descriptions of things. The story has a natural emotional arc that is very satisfying.
There were some continuity issues, and I don't want to distract you from a good read by harping on them. I think that this story would make a good Hollywood romantic comedy, it's got the right kind of energy and some smart dialog - just a thought. Her love interest, Gabriel, is a hybrid of the old manly-man but with a brain and sensitivity. If anything, he's a bit too much the Knight in Shining Armor, and would be even sexier with a bit of edge.
The ex-love interest, Hayward, provides the danger, but only as a sort of menacingly egotistical stereotypical alpha-male. He's integral to the plot, and does his duty. We all know someone like him. Who is equally despicable - so his just rewards are satisfying.
The nitty-gritty: It was page 58 (of 67) before anything overtly sexual happens. IMHO that's a bit too much foreplay, then again I'm male. The sex itself was well handled, vanilla, and terribly romantic. If your tastes are for romantic stories that are almost believable, sweet innuendo, and many longing fulfilled, then this is your book. Even this male reviewer enjoyed the read. "Devils and Angels" is more of a romance novel than erotica. There is only one sex scene in the book, and it is very limited, with only the use of a few terms, used once or twice at most, that might be considered "obscene" to a reader who does not enjoy erotica. The author keeps the plot interesting, adding a couple of unexpected developments into the storyline. The timeline of the story is slightly difficult to follow. After the first chapter, the author jumps back a couple of months and proceeds forward. However, at what point in time the events of the first chapter occur,in the overall story line is difficult to follow. Overall "Devils and Angels" was a light, entertaining story. I am not sure what I really think about this book. I was a bit disappointed in the length. The book starts slow and then moves forward quick. I will admit I was confused in parts of the novella but overall it was ok. There was nothing that stood out for me. The characters were entertaining and enjoyable. Reviewed by Rosa 3 Divas
Devils and Angels is a sweet romance not an erotica. The fact this reviewer was expecting hot steamy sex scenes and good action. Instead I got romance and sweet nothings. Normally, this would piss me off but in this case it was a pleasant surprise. The novella is a good read for romance lovers. Reviewed by Tina 3 Divas

Devils and Angels by Kate Richards * I received a copy of this book from Breathless Press in exchange for an honest review*
Devils and Angels is the third installment in The Tales of Internet Romance series by Kate Richards. This one shows us the negative side of internet dating, when Cari realizes that the man she loves has been lying to her.
Cari met Hayward online, they met for coffee and it was magic from there, or was it. They got together every Sunday and spent the day lazing around Cari’s apartment. They never go out and she can only talk to him at certain times. Everything is wonderful until Cari decides to follow Hay one Sunday when he leaves her house.
Distraught and stranded she is saved by an angel in the form of Gabriel. He seems to keep popping up whenever she is in trouble to save her. He is sexy and funny and she really enjoys his company but she has sworn off men.
Cari ends up getting more out of her relationship with Hay than she bargained for but she’s ok with that. Hay keeps harassing Cari and Gabriel comes to the rescue once again. He comes up with a plan that will get Hay to leave her alone once and for all, if she will agree to it.
I loved Cari’s character. She was strong, independent and sure of herself. She took a chance on internet dating and thought she had found “the one” until Hay’s actions became suspicious. She has strong morals and ended her relationship with him as soon as she knew what was going on.
I loved Gabriel’s solution to Cari’s problem and I was pulling for them. No one has that many chance meetings that something magic doesn’t come out of it. I hope that we get an update on Gabriel and Cari because I really liked their story. This is my favorite story in this series so for.
Overall I really loved this story and give it 4 Flaming Hearts.
Beth, The Readers Roundtable--"Ooh la la, if only we could all have someone like Gabriel to come to our rescue! Devils and Angels is very romantic with a magical feel to it...Devils and Angels is an adorable, romantic and totally fun story! Gabriel is always there for Cari and he’s a very sweet and surprising kind of guy. He sweeps Cari off her feet and takes very good care of her. He’s always her knight-in-shining-armor and protects her at all costs. Gabriel is simply scrumptious and I loved Devils and Angels! I’m already looking for more to read from Kate Richards. This is a Must Read!" 5 Gold Crowns!
Denise, The Pen & Muse Book Reviews--"Richards provides a rich, sexy, and entertaining read with her contemporary romance Devils & Angels. Poor Cari Walsh has had no luck with men and at most she thinks she finally finds one and he turns out to be married! So much for internet dating and finding that perfect man online. What is a poor girl to do? In comes suave and good looking Gabriel to save the day! ... Each scene was very well written along with the characters that I am sure us readers can relate to. Richard does prove that there are Devils and Angels in the flesh out there."

What is a poor girl to do? In comes suave and good looking Gabriel to save the day! What’s a girl to do with the right handsome knight and shining armor? Richards also brings on the steamy and the sexy between these two. I really felt bad for Cari’s character, she had been so unlucky in love that when Gabriel comes along that she feels that she has to explain! Each scene was very well written along with the characters that I am sure us readers can relate to. Richard does prove that there are Devils and Angels in the flesh out there.
