Explains how to take charge of a dog, why hitting a canine is futile, the right ways to walk a dog, how to feed a food-aggressive dog, and other helpful tips for canine owners.
Best book on Canine Behavior I’m aware of. Recommended to me by the owner of a Gundog training kennel as something that influenced him, sure glad he did. The principles in this book will help you train your dog into a well adjusted companion. Great solutions to common behavioral problems.
I first read this book in 2013, at the recommendation of my friends, and in preparation of bringing home a foster dog. I just reread it (2017), as I prepare to bring home my first forever dog (puppy).
This book is a quick read. I finished it in just 3 evenings after work. It contains lots of important lessons and practical tips. It has taken somebody who was not raised around dogs, and made me fairly confident that I know what I'm doing. It breaks each lesson down into steps, so the dog can ease into things gradually.
If you want to learn about human behavior, study dogs.
This book is an excellent introduction to dog behavior. If you want dogs to listen to you, read this. It is essential to the clueless owner of multiple dogs.
