Through a protracted series of vignettes, Krukoff transforms Flyways into an interconnected, psychologically intense novel. Exploring the concept of Six Degrees of Separation, the work dramatizes people's unseen connections to others while they encounter their own problems awaiting an impending snowstorm.
With scenarios ranging from teenage pregnancy and skydiving psychotherapy, to S&M lust, Catholicism, and goose hunting, Flyways delves into the intricacies and implications of the Human Web, and proves that, whether we know it or not, we are all linked, and the results of our actions reach far beyond our limited perception, often impact upon one another's lives.
Really interesting take on the novel. Loved the format and the tight chapters. brilliant. Although I am not entirely sure what happened it doesn't seem as important as the characters we meet. only thing I would have liked to see is an index in the back as I had some trouble keeping all the characters in my mind and sorting out how they related to one another. I don't think it would have been as difficult if I had read it all in one sitting but I just can't do that. Otherwise I really liked it.
