I write sensual Paranormal and contemporary romance. When not writing, I read. When not reading, I hang out with my family. When not with my family, I'm plotting and writing....it's a vicious cycle.

The story moved very slowly. I was at 30% and there was not much happening. So enough for now. I'll probably get back to it one day.

This was a great mystery novel with a side of romance. Ashley Fitzgerald lost her parents to a fire when she was 15. She hasn't been able to remember what happened that night but is still haunted by the events years later. Ron Noble lost his father to the same fire. He has been receiving mysterious notes implying the fire was no accident and leading him on a path to find the truth. One of the names listed in the letters is Ashley.

For a mystery novel this had everything you can love. I spent the whole time trying to figure out who, what and why's of the story. It was well written and kept me engaged. The romance part of the story was just ok for me. It was overshadowed by the mystery and since I read more for romance, that's why this story was a "like" and not a "love". I am curious about the rest of the series and do plan to read them. ARC provided by NetGalley.

In preparing to write this review, I had a moment of confusion. Did I really read the same book as everyone else? Was my $.99 Kindle purchase some how missing all the pleasing attributes that other Goodreads reviewers wrote about? Am I a total book snob? Not sure of the answers to those questions...but I am sure that I was disappointed in this book. The thought of finding a new series to add to my list was exciting. I was sure I found another series (a la Nora Roberts trilogy style) to sink my teeth into. Just kidding. Weak character development and poorly written. Unlikely and clumsy dialogue. Where was the editor?? Awkward situations...aka the "man hug" between two characters. I found myself continuing to read this book just to have something to do during a 2 hour flight. Can't recommend this one.

Slow Burn is the first in the Fitzgerald Family series by E. B. Walters. Ashley Fitzgerald lost her parents in a fire 10 years prior and is trying to move on with her life. Ron Noble has been sent letters that indicate the fire was not an accident as reported. He contacts Ashley in hopes of getting information that could help him discover the truth. But Ashley has repressed those memories and doesn't remember. And there are people who want her to continue to forget.

It wasn't a bad read but it started slow for me. It finally picked up but it never totally grabbed my attention.

This is an entertaining romantic suspense that gives me a feeling that I was actually watching a suspense movie. Two likeable leads, fleshed out villains, great supporting characters and an engaging suspense that kept you guessing.

Our heroin, Ashley, lost both her parents ten years ago in a fire in Carlyle House. She was there at the scene, but couldn't recall what she witness during that night. One day, when a man wanted to hire her to paint for his grandmother, she came face to face with Ronald Noble, the son of the fire-fighter who was killed trying to save her parents. Ron needs her help to uncover the truth behind the tragedy that killed their parents. Although, she didn't want to revisit the awful memories, she reluctantly agrees after being persuaded by his insistence.

Ron Noble had been living with the rumours of his father being the arsonist behind the fire for ten years. When he started receiving anonymous letters pointing him to investigate the fire, he engaged his PI pal, Kenny for help. Ashley name happened to appeared in the letter as well, that's when he decided he needs to seek her out.

Someone wants Ron to uncover the truth, but at the same time someone also wants to silence all the witness. Ashley's Uncle Kirkland, who happened to be her parents' lawyer is the first person who got targeted. After he was attacked and lying in coma, Ashley worried that someone is out to get her. Meanwhile, Ron suspect that his family, which include his mother, grandmother and uncle are hiding some family secrets from him. When one by one, the people involved in the incident got attacked or went missing, Ron and Ashley were desperate to jog her memories by going for hypnotising.

Ashley and Ron have this connection from their first encounter, probably due to their shared past of losing their parents in the same tragedy. Their first meeting started off in an awkward situation where Ashley mistaken Ron as her model for her erotic series. Ron is kind of shameless when it comes to taking advantage of opportunities present to him. He is so sure of himself, confident and a little cocky, but a cool-headed person he is not. Most of the time, he is easily riled up and can't keep his emotion in check. I like seeing him all angry and snappy. But what I like most about him is he readily admit his wrong doings.

Usually in standalone book, I enjoyed reading how the leads getting together. But in Slow Burn, I find myself enjoying it more after they are together. I love their easy banter and how Ashley wanted to smack Ron when he was out of line. Some of the Fitzgerald family members made some brief appearance, but they didn't came out to steal the show. There isn't a specific character that I am rooting to read about, beside Ron's PI pal, Kenny. That guy really did made an impression on me. All in all, this is one entertaining read and I plan to read the next book in the series as well.

"I want you in my bed. Or yours. I don't have a preference, really. It could even be on the floor or a couch, standing, sitting, or lying down. It doesn't matter as long as I make us happy. I want to kiss you all over. I want to hear my name on your lips when you come apart, when I-"

Ashley Fitzgerald witnessed her parent's death by fire 10 yrs ago and doesn't remember a thing. She has moved on, or so she thinks, until Ron Noble steps into her life and makes her wonder, what exactly she saw that night. Ron has everything, including a huge secret. He has approached Ashley hoping to clear his father's name but when things start to heat up between the two of them, the fire 10 yrs ago, will the be least of their concerns.

This story was filled with twists and turns that kept you glued to the pages until the very end. It was thrilling, sexy, sensual, emotional, and so much more. It grabbed me at the beginning and didn't let go. The plot was exciting and flowed extremely well. The story read fast but left nothing out. Ron was amazing. He's a filthy rich playboy with a great body and is extremely talented yet there was an emotional side that the author did a fantastic job showing the readers. Ashley is a talented artist and one that you don't want to push around. She is incredibly independent and extremely straight forward but yet vulnerable and broken. Ms Walters did an amazing job making me feel what the characters felt and believe the emotions that were explained on the pages. Both characters were well put together and thought out. The chemistry between then was smokin and sheet burning good. This is an emotional roller coaster that had me giggling, crying, fanning myself, and cursing all before the last page. The villains were truly demented and their actions were well explained and thought out. I found myself wanting to stop them yet not knowing who "them" was till the very end. I enjoyed this story immensely and cannot wait to read the other Fitsgerald books in the series.

3.5 stars.
'Slow Burn' by E.B. Waters is book one in "The Fitzgerald Family" series. This is the story of Ashley Fitzgerald and Ron Noble. This is also a re-release of this book. Which I had missed this book the first time around so I was glad that they did send it back out again. This was a easy read that for me. But it didn't grip me in or give me an emotional tie to this book as I like. Which is why I put it at 3.5 stars.
Ashley is still getting over a fire that killed her parents when she was just 15 years old. Ron also lost his father in the fire. Ron's father was a fireman and was helping Ashley which ended up killing him in the fire. Ashley hasn't been able to remember that night and Ron is looking for answers. Ron is finding no one is willing to talk about that night so he goes out to find Ashley and see what she remembers. But they find that they are attracted to each other with some growing feelings.
I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.

On her 15th birthday, Ashley Fitzgerald witnessed the murder of her parents. The only problem is that she has blocked all recollection of that fateful night 10 years ago. Now a successful artist, Ashley has chosen to move on with her life with the help of loving family members. She does have some quirky habits that she assumes is due to her parents’ death, such as being in confined spaces and using post in notes in the event that she forgets what she has done.

Ashley has become a successful artist/photographer and has very little complications until Ron Noble shows up at her doorstep. She is waiting on a male model and assumes that Ron is her client. Ron plays along for a short time, because he is seeking answers that he thinks only Ashley knows. His father also died in the fire along with her parents. There was a rumor that Ron’s dad was the arsonist, and Ron is doing all that he can to exonerate him. Ron begins receiving strange messages that includes names of everyone involved on the night of the fire. With the help of Ashley, Ron begins to uncover the truth.

This book is sexual, suspenseful, and memorable. The initial tension between the two main characters is believable and the description of Ron is yummy. Ron was charming, flirtatious, and sexy, but his vulnerabilities are also shown. It is easy to fall in love with both of the main characters, as well as some supporting characters. Their love was portrayed as realistic, passionate, and loving.

I loved this book and didn’t want it to end. Just when I thought that I knew who committed the crime, another clue would surface. The only issue that I had with this book is that there are several grammatical/spelling errors. This author has written YA books for years and has now moved to adult, which this one is definitely not for children. One would think that she would have a better editor. However, I read this on my Kindle so maybe the hardback doesn’t have this issue. I would not let the grammatical issues stop you from reading this, and I have the next two in this series. Highly recommended!

I’m giving “Slow Burn” 4.5 Stars.

A tragic incident from the past brings two people together. One wants to find out the truth from that night and the other wants to move on and forget the ghosts of the past. Neither asked for the circumstances that shaped their lives, but both will persevere and become stronger because of it.

Ashley Fitzgerald has a large loving family, but she is alone. She lost her parents in an awful fire a decade ago. She is only able to remember fragments of that night. It has haunted her for too long and she wants to move on, but is unable to. Her plan is to buy the property where her parents died and totally demolish the house, the memories and the pain.

Ron Noble does not believe his father started the fire that killed him and Ashley’s parents. Ron has never really believed it. Now he is getting messages for him to investigate the fire. There are secrets buried and he is determined to find out what really happened the night his father died. Ashley’s name is mentioned in one of the notes and he is determined to find out what she knows.

A mystery waiting to be solved a decade later brings these two people together. There is people out there that will do anything to keep the secrets buried. Ashley and Ron must work together to stay alive and to find the truth. People involved from that night are dying and Ashley and Ron are running out of time.

“Slow Burn” is a great mystery. Sad circumstances bring these two heartbroken people together. While working side by side, they discover that they have more in common than just that night. Passion ignites hotter than the fire that ruined their lives. If they are not careful, they will get burned by the secrets of the past.

I truly enjoyed “Slow Burn”. I’m normally not a big mystery fan, but the action and the romance kept me interested. Ms. Walters wrote amazing characters that kept me captivated and I just couldn’t tear myself away from them. “Slow Burn” was a real page turner for me and I can’t wait to read more about the amazing Fitzgerald family.

Special, you know?

I don't wanna offend anyone but this was just . . . shit.
Sorry, not sorry.
Everything here was so forced it's ridiculous.
And I do mean, E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.
The plot, the characters, the supposed "chemistry".
*shudder*

So I'm stopping this book here, cause no one wants to see their first love being butchered and burned.

The plot of this book was intriguing but the hero was kind of a jerk and incredibly insincere. But the real game ender for me was the realization that if I saw the word must one more time I was going to yell and throw my nook at the wall. "I must do this...we must do that" no one talks like that and at least if you're going to make your writing that stiff alternate it with something else. Jesus.

Demented Arsonist – Talented Artist – Firefighter who wants the truth exposed- will the truth find its way, or will they find themselves buried with it?

Ashley Fitzgerald witnessed the death of her parents in a tragic fire on her 15th birthday, for ten years she has blocked all memory of that horrid night. Ashley has chosen to move on with life, paint to her hearts desire, photograph what she loves and deal with the nightmares that hold the truth.

Ashley is a successful artist-photographer, living her life with no added complications until one morning her male model turns up at her door and she asks him to strip to his briefs, ready for a session, when he informs her that he is not who she thinks he is. He is indeed the son of the man who died saving her from the fire in Calyle house 10 years prior. Ron Noble. Ron believes the fire may have been deliberately lit; Ashley just wants to move on, she has accepted what has happened.

Did someone kill Ashley’s parents? Was the fire set deliberately?

Ron wants to expose the truth, and he needs Ashley on his side, to do so.

Ron Noble wants to find out what happened that dreaded night. Ashley understands his pain they both lost loved ones, feeling drawn to Ron not only for his charming ways, but feels maybe it is time to find out the truth... Ashley agrees to help Ron, the electricity between them is sizzling, they both feel it, but as secrets are unraveled, mysteries divulged, they find themselves in a whirlwind of turns and twists they could never have imagined. People on the list are getting killed, the toll is getting higher and more is at stake that then could ever have imagined. It’s left up to Ashley to remember details of the accident something that will change her life forever.

Wow!!!!

I must say this romantic thriller, was filled with twists and turns at every corner. I was intrigued from beginning to end with this read, and at one stage I felt like a crazed reader, flickering through 100 miles per hour just to find out whom, what, where and why!!!

A suspenseful thriller- romance that will leave you bewildered, guessing and wandering who the killer was, and why. An unpredictable plot by any means, suspense that will leave you gasping, unexpected events that will bring tears to your eyes; make you fume at events that take place, and also making the plot both intriguing and memorable. Chapters flowed smoothly, the plot was fast paced, and kept the reader interested throughout from beginning to end. I felt not a thing was missed or rushed...

Slow burn was filled with luscious sensual love scenes, that not only with have your toes curling, eyelashes fluttering, but your heart racing like a bird in flight. Moments where you will find yourself grinning with amusement at the funny antics between the characters, and moments where you heart is being played like a marionette and scenes where you want to just jump into the book.

The main characters were well developed, Ron – was charming and flirtatious, cocky, and hot to trot, a rich businessman, and every womans ideal dream boat - yet also has his own vunerabilites, this showed the reader he was not that perfect hot firefighter- playboy and that he also had issues he had to deal with. Loving and caring and sexy an idealistic hero for all. A tortured soul to a certain extent.

Ashley was hot headed and independent, caring and considerate, but also I enjoyed her straight forward character, she liked the truth and believed to give it at all costs. She was passionate about her work and the ones she loved, determined to do what it took to keep the ones she loved out of danger.

The blazing attraction between Ron and Ashley was mesmerizing, tantalizing and passionate. Sex scenes were sensual and loving, electrifying- if you make call it, yet at times also dreamy and transient. Their love was portrayed, tastefully and emotionally giving a good insight to their feelings. Both the good and the bad moments. The descriptions in this story were Fluent, expressive and rhythmic well above defined, there is nothing quite like reading a book and being able to envisage scenery, scents and smells. I am one for great descriptions and this book does not disappoint.

Secondary characters all blended in well, nothing missed out and even the villains were portrayed as noxious, and demented. Definitely incalculable. Making you dislike the character. The other characters, loyal and faithful, and heartfelt. I enjoyed all the characters in Slow Burn, each and every one unique and necessary for the plot to unwind.

Overall, I must say, I had Goosebumps by the end, Held my breath and hoped for the best …. I am a dramatic reader, but you know when you have read a good book when it pulls at your emotions and when the end is done … you sigh! And breathe… I’m sure I held my breath last few chapters..
A capricious read !!!! I’m sure you will enjoy.

Look forward to reading more of the Fitzgerald series.

Slow Burn, the first novel in the Fitzgerald Family series by E.B.Walters, was about Ashley Fitzgerald and Ronald Noble. This companion series has extremely good reviews and ratings. I, however, didn’t get what all the fuss was about. I wasn’t that impressed with this novel. I thought it was okay, but not spectacular.

Something held me back from connecting with the story and the characters on an emotional level. In my opinion, the characters in this novel were only two-dimensional; they didn’t come to life before my eyes. I thought the plot was intriguing, but “the bad guy” was very obvious. Walters actually shows you who the bad guy is very early on when she writes from his perspective. I wish she wouldn’t have ruined the element of surprise, but that wasn’t the way things panned out.

Ron has a playboy image, but we see no evidence of this. Authors are making this mistake a lot more frequently lately, and it really bugs me. I wanted to see evidence of his past. Why aren’t girls approaching him and calling him? Don’t just tell me he used to be a bad boy, show me some proof. You don’t have to go over the top, but give me something.

Ashley made the mistake of making the most annoying move ever. I absolutely hate it when characters “run away” to protect the person they love. Come on. They are still going to be in danger, and if you stick together you have greater odds. I really don’t like it when characters push people away to save them. Other than that, Ashley was a pretty decent character.

I gave Slow Burn by E.B. Walters 3 STARS (2.5 STARS). This was an okay novel, but it wasn’t sooo impressive that I would rush out and tell my friends to read it right away. Even though the next two books in the series have really good reviews and ratings, I am going to put off reading them. I may decide to pick them up at a later date, but I am not going to read them now.

OMG !!! THIS BOOK IS DEFINITELY HOT !!!
WOW , I'd call myself crazy if i were to say this book didnt hit me in the right places ;) !!
I totally loved this book , this was a very good mixture or romance , action and mystery . I could very well say this , it had all the makings of a great hollywood blockbuster . Sophistication , style , panache you name it this book had it all .
I loved the book cover , it was the first thing that got me excited to read this book .
The second , was obviously the synopsis . Ashley Fitsgerald is a woman tormented by nightmares of her past . An accident that left her an orphan . Ron Nobles , a man battling to clear his fathers name accused of something he didnt do . Together they seek to uncover the truth , but the bad guys are not far behind and will stop at nothing to make sure the truth never comes out .
This book is definitely for ' mystery - thriller ' readers . What i really liked about this book was its uniqueness compared to other ' mystery ' reads . In this book , the reader knows who exactly the bad guys are but the mystery part kicks in when someone tries to help Ashley and Ron in uncovering the truth .
Honestly , reading half the book i wasnt able to figure out who this mystery helper was . But somewhere later on i kind of figured out who this ' helper' of theirs was . And trust me when i say this i was soooo damn happy to know i was right !!! Why was i sooo happy , well we can say that you'll be surprised to know who this person was .
This is definitely a must read , please check it out !! You'll love it :)

I love, love, love this book. The characters are well thought out, intriguing, and true to life. Ednah Walters writes a fantastic story, and has written, by leaps and bounds, THE best love-making scene I have ever read in a romance novel, and then supplemented it with three more fairly descriptive accounts throughout the book.

Many Authors have discussed how writing a Romance novel is like following a formula, but I believe Ms. Walters goes above an beyond the romance genre norm and gives us all a little extra boost. Her writing style is engaging and thought provoking, the suspense grips you to the chair, and you simply cannot put this book down (Much like Julie Garwood's novel of the same name, though both the story and the characters are so incredibly different)

If you even like romances a little bit, you will enjoy this book!

One word, three syllables.....A...MAZ...ING!!!

Romance and mystery, you just can't get any better....Ashley lost her parents in a fire 10 years ago...Ron lost his father in that same fire. He has been receiving letters making him think that the fire was not an accident. He's on a mission to open the case and find the truth. But one person knows the truth, Ashley. Can he convince her to help? Find out what really happened? Will Ron be able to keep his hands off Ashley? Will Ashley finally trust someone again? Hell, I'm not telling, read the book. I actually enjoyed this read. Nothing that you can complain about this story or unless a little for me.....Always picky or always annoying is what I would call it :) Now I like the characters they connect and when that happens I connect with them.

When Ron and Ashley meet hmm sparks happen and then for me the story flows. You cannot say that it dragged cause really it has flirting, angst, suspense and yes don't forget hot hump scenes that is actually not too over the top. So I like all what this book brings. Action. Now the only thing is will I continue with the series??

I loved this book! Loved the characters, the plot line and the writing. This starts out as a who done it with psychological ramifications. The love affair develops slowly as the protagonists cannot fight the relentless draw they feel to each other. Ashley and Ronald will need to come terms with all the lies and misinformation of the last 10 years in order to move on with their lives.

Gripping story full of mystery and passion. A must read!

Ednah Walters is going to be one of my favourite finds of the year. This book had a fast pace, a storyline I haven't already read a thousand times, as well as enough smexy times to make me a happy little romance reader. Enjoyed all the characters, even the villians.
Will be reading more of this series for sure.

Ashley was hot headed when she needed to be and independent, caring and considerate, but also I enjoyed her straight forward character, she liked the truth and believed to give it at all costs.
