Ms. Houston wrote several books for children, including the best-selling My Great-Aunt Arizona, illustrated by Susan Condie Lamb; The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree, illustrated by Barbara Cooney; and LittleJim. She lived in Asheville, North Carolina.

I'm not used to reading about an abusive parent so imagine my surprise while reading this book. Parents are to build their children up not tear them down as BigJim does here. I can only recommend this book for older readers, as children should not be around abusive people or book characters.

Great book!

I loved it my, my 9 year old daughter read it and enjoyed it. It was a good book. great book!!!!
