This one was so good like we pick with the aftermath of Infinite crisis and well Bart growing up like that suddenly and we see his struggles to not take the mantle with the disappearance of Wally and well what happens when his room-mate Griffin gets powers and wants to be a hero, the sole protector of his city and how it drives him crazy and when someone close to him is threatened and his city is in peril, will Bart step up and take the mantle.. take his legacy?

Its such a good book and plays so well into "becoming the hero archetype" and its so well done here and then just shows you the evolution of Bart and growing into the hero, and like the villain is fleshed out too with his own motives and all and by the end a tragic ending for sure but rise of the new hero and also hints as to whatever happened with Wally and some sub-plots that lead into the next story arc really well and brings former villains of Bart's which will be interesting to read.

The supporting cast is well defined here, really fleshed out and one member in particular will stand out and I love the way the story plays out them, so continue reading next volume after this!!

Bart is reluctant to be the flash which leads to conflict with the old Flash, Jay Garrick, but he doesn't have to deal with the issue head-on until a friend-enemy becomes a problem.

Artwork is good and there's some focus on the Speed Force but it feels like the tale has cut some corners on some potentially interesting ideas.

MY GRADE: C plus to B minus.

This was pretty boring. It's basically Bart grown up and having to taking over the Flash Mantel. However, he's not sure about it. If he uses the speed force it unleashes a hellish amount of power so he's a bit scared. This volume basically has one of Bart's friend's becoming a villain and then Bart finally taking the responsibility of The Flash and becoming the man himself.

Overall this is kind of a boring book with nothing really new. I will say I did enjoy the 2nd artist who came on. So for that alone some of the scenes are pretty cool. The fighting is not horrible but just meh. Overall, very very skippable. 2 out of 5.

It's a well written book, but who wants to read about the new Flash, who never wears his costume!?

For me, honestly, this was a pretty weak story for the Flash :(
Bart has problems accepting himself... okay, like so many teenagers do.. get over it and accept who you are! :D
No, this one goes into my "not so great as I hoped for" pile...

After Barry and Wally comes Bart Allen to reluctantly take over the mantle.

I say reluctantly because the writer made it a point to remind us over and over that Bart doesn't want to inherit the Flash identity, but must for the greater good. Bilson unfortunately is heavy handed when giving us the story of Bart and how he comes to be the Flash. I felt there was too much exposition and over explanation to the point where it started to be a difficult read. You can pretty much telegraph the book from the moment Bart's friend gets his power to the end of the book.

The book establishes that Bart doesnt want to be the Flash but has to because his roomate/friend has got powers and is being irresponsible for them. It also lets us know that Bart now holds the entirety of the speed force within him, which brings into question if Barry and Wally are stuck in the speed force, how will they get out? This huge fact doesn't matter to Bart who pretty much just wants to be with the daughter of a classic Flash villain and getting rid of the speed force. Good times.

The art seems to be a revolving door of artists. This approach is hit and miss as we get wide ranging results from really great solid art to... not so much.

The first volume of Bart's adventures as the Flash is a bit disappointing. But coming off of the Geoff Johns-Wally run, its to be expected. Hopefully Bilson can steer the ship in a better direction than what its pointing towards now.

POPKulturowy Kociołek:

https://popkulturowykociolek.pl/flash...

Zdaje on sobie sprawę z tego, że czeka go długi i wyczerpujący trening swoich zdolności.

The Flash: Lightning in a Bottle has an interesting premise but falls apart when it needs to conclude. Bart West does not want to be The Flash after he lost part of his memory defeating Superboy Prime and the Speedforce disappeared.

The art changes every issue and the main threat/foil is so easily and jarringly resolved, it might not have existed in the first place. The character could have been used more interestingly to show the danger of vigilantism, but instead merely succeeds in being a nuisance to what Bart wants. Still, the premise and characterisation of Bart West is interesting and his difficulty in either being or not being The Flash gives him a significant amount of depth.

This attempt at a new Flash series seems like it was written by non-comic book writers...because it was. It reads very strangely, not just because of DC's terrible One Year Later storyline. Its clunky and cliched. Artists Ken Lashley did the best he could be it was subpar to say the least. Griff was beyond bad and Bart wasn't...Bart. Overall, an unpleasant read.

I get hat Bart is older, but he just seems slightly off in this comic. Griffin was an ok-ish villain, but this volume was definitely bolstered by having

http://quienmemandaria.wordpress.com/...

DC puts a new face in the classic Flash costume in the One Year Later volume by Danny Bilson. Following Wally West's disappearance during the Infinite Crisis, Central City is without its Flash. Golden-age hero Jay Garrick is doing what he can, but time is no longer on his side. Enter the former teen sidekick Kid Flash - Bart Allen - who is now mysteriously 4 years older and terrified of being consumed by his intense speed. Plagued by self-doubt and fear, Bart refuses to take up the Flash mantle; he would prefer to have the speed abilities removed entirely. Yet a fateful chemical accident at his place of employment changes everything, as roommate and coworker Griffin Gray ends up with newfound speedster abilities. While Gray seeks the spotlight, Bart shuns it, leading both men on a collision course that will establish a new Flash. Bart Allen always felt like a forced character, and he continues to prove it in this new Flash volume. Attempting to add a new member to the Flash legacy, Bart's character is aged and given an overdose of guilt and pathos in order to set him up as the latest Scarlet Speedster. The wanna-be hero-turned-villain continues the cliche of an enemy being a close friend, especially when said character is removed from the board at the conclusion of the story arc. WHile the introduction of Inertia as a future foil does offer some glimmer of hope, DC's fast-forward gimmick does little more than remind readers of what they are missing without Wally West or Barry Allen in the classic suit. In spite of the title, this graphic novel fails to catch lightning in a bottle for DC once again.

This was pretty rough; the writers Bilson and DeMeo have had a history with the Flash TV show which I enjoy, but their take on the character here (which is a brand new Flash...guh, the fourth one!) seems more preoccupied in PTSD and really horrific bro-speak in this first arc. Basically Bart is freaked out about becoming the Flash since he can't control his powers, a new vigilante hits town who used to be Bart's roomie (convenient!). There is a tiny blossoming romance with Val which is cutely chaste, but was not a good comic. I'll give it some points for having some great moments for Flash #1, Jay Garrick (aka geezer Flash/Flash with the cool hat), but this was pretty much a dud. The change of art teams every other issue also really hurts this run, although the issue by Karl Kerschl is really great. I would say the volume after this (Full Throttle) is much better, but it sucks knowing that all of the set up going on here is about to go up in smoke in a few issues.

Ugh, the editors at DC must be crazy. They sped headlong from the best Flash stories I've ever read from Geoff Johns, straight into this pile of garbage. Some of the worst writing I've ever had the displeasure of reading. Getting rid of Wally and trying to turn Bart into DC's Peter Parker was just hideous in form and execution, leaving aside the creative bankruptcy. I'm so glad they kill him off in the next book.

Podría haber sido mejor, podría haber sido peor. Algunas ideas interesantes y otras tantas mal aprovechadas.
