About the author

Amylynn read her first romance novel in 2008 after being a lifelong literary snob. By the time she was done, she was hooked.

She is an Arizona native and lives in the same house her husband owned before they were married. Amylynn fears she will never call another state home unless someone tells her husband there are forty-nine others to choose from. In reality, she'd settle for a walk-in closet.

Her family consists of the aforementioned husband, two beautiful children, two dogs, two cats, some fish, and a hankering for a panda. She'd like it mentioned she's never been in prison, but we'll see how that panda thing works out.

Amy Lynn Bright’s The Devil’s Descendants: Wrath is a charming and engaging paranormal romance that offers a fresh take on the concept of sin personified. This book, the first in a series, introduces readers to Wrath, a cursed descendant of the Devil himself, and the journey he embarks on to navigate his fate—and possibly love.

The novel is well-plotted, balancing romance, intrigue, and supernatural elements in a way that keeps the pages turning. The premise is unique, and Bright does an excellent job of building a world that feels both familiar and fresh. The romance is sweet, and while I would have enjoyed a bit more spice, the emotional connection between the main couple is satisfying. However, the ending leans more toward setting up future books rather than delivering a fully resolved happily-ever-after, which makes sense given that this is the start of a series.

One area where I felt the book could have gone deeper was in exploring Wrath’s curse. While there are moments that showcase its effects, his struggle felt a bit too controlled for someone who embodies wrath itself. A more intense portrayal of his inner battle would have added even more depth to his character.

Overall, this was a really fun and enjoyable read. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy at the Tucson Festival of Books, and I definitely don’t regret it! I’m excited to see where the rest of the series goes and how Bright continues to develop her unique take on these cursed descendants.

What I Did Like:
+The opening chapter is so compelling! I knew right away that I was going to love the mythology parts of this one.
+The relationship between the 7 cousins is well written even without getting a lot of page time. They’re a constant presence in each other’s lives and you can tell that in almost every second of time in Luke’s brain. That was very well done!
+The romance is adorable. It makes sense yet it’s believable and the talk of fate works without being overdone.

Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of mythological based stories who want an interesting take on the seven deadly sins.
-Romance fans this one features the sunshine/grumpy trope in a way that works and has spice.

This book had some interesting ideas, 7 men who were cursed with each of the seven deadly sins, and having the devil enter someone's dreams. I wish they played more into the dream aspect, and made it more mind-fucky. I overall liked the characters, but Luke felt lamer toward the end of the book. I liked the side story with Niel and Juliet more than the main story, so hopefully that continues on with the next books. The other characters seemed way more interesting than Luke, Luke just felt more one-dimensional and a bunch of cliches. Mia was a more interesting character to me.

I only noticed one typo I think on page 157.

This was an interesting book. When it switched to the past I got confused but then realized what was happening. The storyline was good and shows love can happen even if you may become the devil.

It’s like 2 stories in one and I love it! Also the second integrated story looks like it will be continued throughout the whole Devils Descendants series!!! Keeping me hooked!

Luke works at his father architect firm. He is the person in charge of the design for the Veritas Templum Pharmaceuticals building. That is until Mia (the owners daughter) gets involved in the planning of the building design as well. Luke does not agree with her vision of what it should be, he thinks her ideas are crazy. Getting involved with a client is never a good idea… unless fate is involved and apples lots of 🍎.

This is my first book by Amylynn Bright. For me getting into the book the first chapter or two was slow but once I got into the story it kept me interested to learn what happens between Luke and Mia. I really loved Jeb the gargoyle assistant. The book was full of laughter as well when Mia was witty. And who knew angles were sarcastic 😂. Loved that this book was a bit different than others that I have read in the past! Characters were very developed and as the story progresses you learned more about them. All seven sins appear in this book as the seven spend a lot of time together. The spice in the book is low.

As a person who has a garden every year and enjoys using fresh from garden to table I loved all the bits about apples and vegetables!

Overall the book was good and I will read the next book (Lust) in the series. The book centered around Wrath/Luke and Mia but the overall series is over the entire series so while not really a cliffhanger we will continue with the curse in the next book.
