This audiobook is the perfect blend of inspiration and practical exercises for singing. While it’s fabulous for trained musicians, it is completely approachable and valuable for anyone who wants to find their true voice through singing. Loved every minute and have some fabulous ideas for my students.
I loved this book for many reason. I am not a singer, per se, but I do love to sing. I was fortunate enough to take voice and chorus in school as a youngster. My mom, brother and son all love to belt out our voices in church. Musical theater has always been a big part of my family, as well. But I especially loved that this book, and my use of the BREATH, to relax the body, in my psychotherapy practice is so well defined here. And it doesn't hurt that that she tells stories of musical, movie and Broadway stars allow Mary to tell their stories here.
I made the mistake to read this book in moments where I couldn't actually take the time to practice what the wonderful Mary suggests to do, so I suggest you to give this book (and yourself) the proper time to live through it. The book is so well written, it really feels like I met her in real life! Her method made me realize what to fix in my technique, and sometimes it all starts back from what she called "economic breath". Thanks Mary!
Mary is an excellent writer and the most fantastic voice teacher. Her method and message change lives. Any singer looking to connect their emotion to voice will be helped by reading this book!
