The Seattle Omegas #2

Breaking the Ice

Rate this book
Aurelia Peterson has always been the rock of her family. Daughter, cousin, sister, mom. She used to be a wife too, but that ended violently, leaving Aurelia with mobility issues and trauma that haunts her dreams. All Aurelia wants is to raise her son, Tobey. She is not looking for love, especially when she made the wrong choice the first time around. Unfortunately, Pack Stone didn’t get that memo. Physical therapy sessions aren’t nearly as grueling now that Pack Stone has barreled into her life and Aurelia starts to wonder if all those romances that she’s read aren’t so impossible for her after all. Colt, Christa, Hideo, and Wilder are living a life that others could only dream of. After the success of his private security business, Colt wants to dedicate his time to supporting athletes on their way to greatness—as long as it doesn’t get in the way of raising his son. It’s not long before Colt’s packmate, Wilder, starts to grow closer to the pretty omega with sad eyes during her physical therapy appointments. Pack Stone has always been too busy for an omega, especially one so resistant to romance. As they become more entangled with Aurelia and her sweet little boy, Pack Stone must face monsters from Aurelia’s past for any hope of a future together. Breaking the Ice is a MMFFM why choose romance featuring MM, FF, and MF situations. This story is not suitable for readers under the age of 18. Please check the full list of triggers before reading. This is the 2nd story in The Seattle Omegas universe and will feature speed skating and the administrative aspects that take place behind the scenes. While this is technically a stand-alone, you may want to read On Thin Ice to understand some other character mentions and plot points.

4.5 stars — Stewart continues to amaze me!

In “Breaking the Ice” we get to watch Aurelia find her pack. Aurelia intrigued me the most in book one, so getting her book was a treat!

Aurelia, like Tibby in the Seattle Omegas series, is actually joining an already formed pack. Even more, she’s joining one where there are siblings, brother and sister, in the pack. This was an angle quite unexpected but it worked quite nicely. If I’m being honest, I had to work through my own issues of “why am I opposed to there being a brother and sister in the pack, yet enjoy when there are twin boys in a pack?”. Once I got past that, I was able to enjoy the book all the more!

Like all of Stewart’s books, each relationship is given time to grow and bloom. Each relationship makes sense and the characters are stronger in the end because of it. I can’t say any bad things about this pack, they are one of my favorites that Stewart has ever written!

The last thing I want to highlight is the representation in this book. Aurelia is disabled and uses a wheelchair for most of the book. Given her partial paralysis, she needed to be written in a way that did her justice. And did Stewart deliver! Being educated on how disabled women can enjoy sex was eyeopening and I appreciate how Stewart took the time to write a FMC that needed to use aids while being intimate with her partners. Stewart is a fantastic writer who keeps on getting better with every book!

Very good! Loved reading FF in an omegaverse. Will say that the grammatical issues ramped up in the last 20%, but it didn’t really affect my reading. Loved the representation and how intimacy with Aurelia’s mobility issues was handled.

*sighs*I REALLY wanted to love this book. I LOVED the San Fransisco Omega series, and truly thought I would feel similarly about this series. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

For one, I definitely could've done a lot more spice, but I also just couldn't connect to the characters or the plot. There definitely was a ton of potential, but I found it to be a bit slow. I also didn't see a connection with all of the pack members and the fmc. It just seemed like they each went on one date, and suddenly they were a pack. I just needed more romance, and relationship building.

This was surprisingly a super tender and great story about healing and allowing yourself to let good things come into your life. I also liked how there was disability rep with Aurelia being a wheelchair user with mobility issues from an injury and colt being a leg amputee and prosthetic user. If you like omegaverse poly/why choose books then I recommend!

My heart is happy. I loved Aurelia’s story. There’s trauma, healing, a sweet protective pack and a generous amount of Aurelia’s family mixed within the storyline. I loved how close knit this family is and I’m looking forward to Ciara’s story as I’m pretty sure we’ll get to see more glimpses of Brynn and Aurie too ❤️

Is this a stand alone? Not really, no. If you can read and enjoy without being bothered by a lot of information being left out and just alluded to as something you should already know, then sure, read it on its own, but otherwise this is not a stand alone, its just a continuation of an already eastablished group and plot but now with a new couple/pack...

Calliope Stewart is an insta-buy author for me. I devoured Juneau, and I devoured this one just as quickly.

The author writes the BEST RH omegaverse, with complex characters and complex relationships. Then the actual plot is the cherry on top of a very steamy, very cute sundae.

Breaking the Ice was less about hockey and more about the dynamic of a women healing from domestic violence, so definitely be aware of that going into it. This book was like a warm hug of a novel, along with some hurt and comfort vibes thrown in for good measure.

I loved every minute of this, and loved that it included a F/F relationship.

Awe…this was cute. Totally tropey and predictable but that’s what I need right now. I didn’t *love* the MFC but she didn’t bother me either.

Loved the disability rep and how well it was done. I don’t have a physical disability so I don’t truly know how *well* it was actually done, but from my limited point of view I liked how often it was brought up and not just glossed over in intimate moments.

This was only my second read by this author and it definitely made me want to try more of their books.

*Please note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.*

So, this is the second book in the Seattle Omegas series. We already met Aurelia in On thin ice, and I personally was excited about reading her story. Calliope Stewart is one of my favorite authors, and has a way to write stories with a lot of depth, but still sensitive and sweet, so as not to overwhelm anyone. She is one of my comfort reads, even though the topics are often tough and emotions/personal struggles of the characters are a huge part of that too. It’s a roller coaster in many ways, but still sweet and makes you feel good about it.

I knew about Aurelia’s ex-husband. Since the circumstances were mentioned in book one a little. And sweet Tobey, her little son, was introduced there too.

Of course, it was tough reading how Aurelia had to suffer from the hands of her ex in the past. Every time I read such stories, I’m angry on the behalf of all women who have to endure something like that. In Aurelia’s case, it is sad, since she was a healthy person before and ended up in the wheelchair. I mean, a lot of things can change your life in the blink of an eye. But it hit differently, if a person is disabled through a car accident or through abuse.

A lot of people tend to blame the victim, since they don’t understand why they just don’t left. I can admit that it is difficult to grasp myself.sometimes. Though, I have a different insight through reading it. And you can’t really judge about it, when you were never in that position.

The farthest I can relate is with my experience being bullied most of my school life. But I didn’t have to live with them. But still, you get used to that kind of attention/treatment and just try to survive, while still hoping things get better. That’s the way I lived during my bully experience. Everything was just about to get through the day, while still hoping for the best and that maybe things would change. You keep hoping, until you realize that if you don’t save yourself, no one else will. And it is easier to stand up for others, than for yourself. So, I really get it, why she only acted when her son was the one who would have suffered otherwise.

And I can appreciate it, that Aurelia grew into herself and faced her monsters. And I loved the pack. They each were supportive and protective of her. And they were big on consent.

Generally, it is rare to read a book with disability and not only from the FMC but part of the group, too. Usually, when there is even some sort of injury/disability, it is minor. So, not enough that it really impacts life. The ones I read, had injuries, like a lost finger or some sort of lasting effect of an injury—like they limp. Otherwise, I had some mental health issues, like PTSD/panic attacks and other things. Or stuttering. But often they overcome that or get healed from it in a way, so that there really isn’t anything hindering them anymore.

Here there was a lot of focus on inclusion and how to find ways to handle things despite those disabilities. I loved that.

And I generally love the dynamic between all main characters, packs and the side characters. In this case, it was a sweet connection Aurelia had with Charlie. And Charlie with Tobey. Another thing I can just underpin with Calliope Stewart focusing on relationship building.

Though, there were some time jumps. I’m not a huge fan of those, but here I didn’t mind it as much since the build up was there before them and I saw a lot of the sweet moments. So, the time jumps weren’t that bad.

Really, it was as always a fantastic read, and I’m excited for Ciara’s story. 🙂

This book made my heart feel full. My need for found family was fulfilled. It has changed me. I would kill and die for these characters now. They are all my babies. PLEASE LET ME JOIN YOUR PACK I WILL PROTECT YOU😩

5 ⭐️ ! This is Aurelia's story of finding herself and her own happily ever after. She gets introduced to the pack full of (IMO) cinnamon rolls who all trip over their feet to help her. I am personally a huge fan of single-parent meeting their LOML and them also loving the kiddo, also I love me some angst- so this was a perfect combination for me. Aurelia has such a heartbreaking story and learning the truth behind her disability was jaw-dropping. I also liked the accurate representation of severe PTSD.

Why is no one talking about how ridiculously funny Calliope Stewart's writing style is? I was cracking tf up at her silly wordplay and how the characters were portrayed, like this moment for example:
"My leg was aching, probably because I'd stomped back up to my office like the giant from Jack and the fucking Beanstalk. I'm half-surprised that I didn't shout fee-fi-fo-fum for the entire lobby to hear." -I WAS ROARING WITH LAUGHTER

Characters:
- Aurelia was an absolutely sweet soul, with her old and wise advice- and not letting her disability get in the way of her love for the pack and the kids.
'Truthfully, Aurelia could have brought me to the literal pits of Hell on our first date and I'd probably have thanked her for it.'
Me too babe me too I would do ANYTHING FOR THAT WOMAN

- Colt was a dork. In a weird dad kind of way- I would call him daddy though ;)
'I'd checked in on them an hour ago, but Charlie had quickly shooed me out. Apparently, having a handsome, charming millionaire for a dad was no longer cool anymore. Who'd have thought?'
NO BABY YOU ARE COOL I LOVE YOU

- Wilder was a KINGGGG he kept everyone happy and together and he's underrated as hell.
'“Did I say I minded you being a tyrant, babe? I'm simply here as a servant to do as my queen wishes.”

- Christa is my bitch- ISTG I relate to her so hard with her social anxiety/awkwardness.
'I had taken one look at Colt and Hideo's new secretary and it was like my entire brain had thrown off a 504-error. My first thought had been 'ooh pretty' followed by, 'too pretty, oh my God.' I then blurted something that sounded absolutely bitchy, even to me, and got the hell out of dodge before my mouth got me into any more trouble.'
This is why I love her to death.

- Hiedo. I loved this man. He was kinky, steady, PROTECTIVE, and the way he's picky with his lovers? I relate babe. High standards for the win.
'I knew Christa would help me hide a body if I needed it, but it would probably end with both of us in prison. We definitely weren't capable of being hitmen in this life, both of us about as stealthy as a pair of rubber chickens.'

--
I love that the omega verse aspect wasn't all in your face and more like a background theme. Some books rely on that too heavily just to keep the plot moving- but Breaking the Ice was perfectly done. It had some heat moments, an 'omg an omega I love her pls omg' by the alphas, and that was all it really needed.

This is a really long book, with very little plot, not all that much going on, but the characters make up for it by just being incredibly amazing and sweet and perfect and real.
I love found family. PLEASE ADOPT MEEEEEEEE
Plotwise this is a shitty book- but do you see me care? No you do not. Because I don't. This was perfect.

📖 My Thoughts

I absolutely enjoyed this book. The disability rep was done so well, there was no magical solution to the disabilities that we see in this novel. I really enjoyed how there was clear research done in this novel to make these disabilities as accurate as possible. Our fmc, aurelia, has such a heartbreaking story and learning the truth behind her disability was jaw dropping. I admired her need to be independent, it was something i related to and I was eager to see her growth with it. I also liked the accurate representation of severe PTSD. As someone who suffers from it, it gets quite annoying constantly seeing authors chop the effects of to “passing out” / “everything we dark”, it happens sometimes yes but it’s often done so inaccurately in novels.

our founding family was so sweet. I loved see their true nature and learning to love with them. Our female alpha was amazing, she was probably my favourite love interest, everything about her just resonated with me. Our mmc’s were so caring and patient. I don’t typically enjoy fast burns, but also though this felt fest the relationships had depth and were actually cultivated in a way that had the story keep a string pace but in a digestible manner.

my only thing I change for this story, is that the climax of this didn’t feel as strong as I would’ve liked it. I feel like given the nature of our villain in this story, there should’ve been a lot more damage that occurred. but that’s just me being picking. the story is good on its own, I just prefer the story to have a gut wrenching climax.

I can already tell our next instalment is or baby going to be another gut wrenching story based on the crumbs we were given and I am on the edge my seat waiting to get my grubby little hands on it.

⚠️ Triggers

graphic domestic violence, injuries, amputation/permanent partial paralysis, mild stalking, gun violence

🏳️‍🌈 Representation

although this is why choose, this was more so a poly book. We had lesbian, bisexual, and gay representation. there are also bipoc characters!

🌶️ Spice

I give the spice a 2, it happened a bit quickly that there wasn’t much that made it particularly leg quenching. But there were some good kinky parts that i liked.

📝 Special Notes

this is the second book in this series and while I could say you can read this one first and it won’t change the story too much, but you will miss out on characters returning and how the connections work.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to read an ARC copy of Breaking the Ice, and I can absolutely see it becoming the author’s best seller.

***There may be spoilers in this review, but I’ll try to keep them similar to a blurb.

The female main character (FMC), Aurelia, is the victim of horrific domestic violence that leaves her mostly confined to a wheelchair, and her family helps to remove the FMC and her son from the abusive spouse. Both the telling of the incident and the retellings/flashbacks in the book are emotionally gripping, so be aware of your triggers before jumping in headfirst.

But the story shows her strength and determination to take care of her son, improve her mobility through ongoing hard work, and also her ability to develop new and healthier relationships. There wasn’t a fairy godmother making everything magically perfect- there isn’t a miraculous healing of her legs. And yet, there is definitely a happy ending.

I loved the integration of realistic physical therapy sessions, detailed examples of how she and her pack made modifications to accommodate her needs, and how one of the male main characters had his own physical limitations (a prosthetic leg). They both still found love, had oodles of shmexxy time, and lived full and enriching lives. The integration of their experiences helped them to feel like real people, and not “token” examples of people with disabilities.

Another element of this story that I appreciated was the discussion of parental expectations and how kids handle them. Several of the characters were in situations where they felt pushed to do something to make their parent proud, even though it made them miserable. The outcome varied as each character chose to stop, and I liked that the author showed how it isn’t always easy to stand up for what you want to do with your life. Again, the author didn’t force happy outcomes for those relationships, which felt authentic.

Omegaverse books may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and I know that smut with MM and FF scenes may deter others, but this really is a great book. The characters are well developed, the scenes are engaging, and it pulls out emotional reactions.

And although it is part of a series, it could definitely be read as a standalone. If you’re like me and have zero interest in sports (or any hockey knowledge), you should still be fine. While reading this, my Insta feed suddenly started showing me hockey bloopers, which was quite entertaining.

So different

This omega verse book was unlike any I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot! The 1st book in the series was one of my favorites so I was super excited and had a countdown to this one. I was so glad our girl got her own book, I knew it would be good. A few things…it was a very very slow burn and slow start for me. I had a bit of a hard time staying focused the first 1/3 at least if not the first 1/2 of the book. Obviously, we loved all the supporting crew and family. They really are great.

This book also had several times where a certain period of time and big events were glossed over and then mentioned briefly that they had been discussed…I didn’t care for that so much. It took away from some big pivotal moments we needed to read.

I was Leary af about there being a female alpha in the mix too, then reading it to find out she was also a twin sister to the other alpha and I was for sure not sold on the idea. My mind immediately started questioning if I could be ok with that dynamic when it came to intimacy scenes and heats. But Calliope handled it perfectly and took the yuck factor out of the equation. I was so relieved cause I was just not sure if I could not be grossed out by that.

The kids were both great. I really really wanted more revenge and consequences for that stupid hockey coach though. Like I wanted him to really suffer not just for how he treated and threatened our omega but how he treated our boy! He was awful and needed more than just being fired.

I liked all the individual relationships, although I wish we had been able to see them grow them more. I felt that was kinda glossed over a lot then suddenly…I love you? There is spice but I felt that it lacked passion at times. Still it was a good read and I can’t wait for the next.

Genre: omegaverse romance
Tropes: why choose MMFFM, twins in the harem, workplace romance, single mom, single dad, disability and mobility representations, no 3rd act breakup
Rating: 3.5✨

This book is the 2nd installment in “The Seattle Omegas” series. Even though it is considered as a standalone, I would recommend to read the books in order since I didn’t and it felt like I missed some important pieces of the FMC’s family history.

I would have loved more romance, I mean we have so many little time jumps and a lot of things that happen off-pages and were all things I wanted to see.
I think the relationships were a little rushed.
The romance begins with Aurelia and Wilder after a year they’ve known each other, and then he literally disappears, he fades in favor of Christa, Colt and Hideo’s to start their own relationships. This last two pined after each other for like a decade, and finally started a relationship when our omega’s enter the scene.

I felt like all their relationships were a little fragmented. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that they all have their own relationship with the omega, but I would have enjoyed seeing them act more like a pack, maybe a couple of dates with everyone included, or a s3x scene with all of them together, but we don’t get that at all, it’s like they take turns. We only get a few scenes where they cuddle, so I guess at least there is that.

I loved the kids, I really wanted to give them both a tight hug but needless to say, I would have loved to see more of Charlie and Aurelia’s growing relationship.

There also is a dog, but unfortunately we don’t see much of him either.

⚠️Aurelia is a victim of domestic violence and there are graphic scenes. Her partial paralysis is caused by one of this episode. There is also bullying against a minor, gun violence, amputation, death of a parent and panic attacks. So please, keep this in mind before reading it. ⚠️

The second book in the Seattle Omegas added to the series in a spectacular way.
I loved On Thin Ice but Breaking the Ice exceeded that.

Aurelia and her son Tobey escaped a horrific experience with DV and despite her guarded heart and her trauma, Aurelia finds herself unable to resist an amazing, although slightly disjointed, pack featuring Wilder, Colt, Christa and Hideo plus Colt's son Charlie.

There is so much to love about this book:
As someone with a mobility disability, the disability rep and the accommodations throughout made my heart swoon. Aurelia is in a wheelchair, with lasting weakness and pain, there was no magic cure and the adapting for spicy time was done so well. Addressing the issues of discomfort and pain, getting devices/"toys" that helped and the checking for comfort and consent just made it so much better. Colt with his prosthetic was also done so well in the same manner.
Wilder and Aurelia's snarky moments together during physical therapy and Wilder trying to get a rise out of her, their chemistry is what started it all. Aurelia feeling she could be herself with Wilder (and the pack) without having to put on her family "I'm okay" face.
Christa being socially awkward Alpha, having difficulty talking to people was adorable.
The Bi rep - mm and ff.
Addressing sibling rivalry, friendship loyalty and parental expectations.
Charlie - the teen was so sweet and funny. Aurelia helping Charlie find his voice to talk to his dad about his sport choices and how the pack collectively rolled with it. Charlie jumping into the role of big brother to Tobey was cute.

There was so much more that i enjoyed and I'm thoroughly looking forward to Ciara's story.

I am one of the lucky few who is an ARC reader for Calliope Stewart. Let me just say: I love hockey, I love omegaverse and I love Calliope Stewart’s books. This one, Breaking the Ice, is one of her best. If you read her first Seattle Omegas book, On Thin Ice, you met Aurelia briefly. I am so happy she gets her own story.
I know some omegaverse is lurid and smutty, but I don’t see this this in Calliope’s books. Yes, there is hot, steamy romance but her books are family oriented. I especially like the fact that Aurelia’s family is tight. She has two great dads, a loving sister and an adorable little boy, Tobey. You find out exactly why she is in a wheelchair. And that’s another thing. Our main character is disabled and uses a wheelchair in most of the book. SPOILER Alert! She meets one of her pack at physical therapy. Having undergone physical therapy myself, it’s very real in the story.
In addition to meeting her pack, we find out the backstory about Aurelia. And it’s pretty horrible so beware as you read the book. She is such a spunky, loveable character. Again, Calliope creates realistic characters and in the development of the story, those characters grow and develop. I especially love the way she writes about the kids, Tobey and Charlie. It’s all so natural. You come to love Pack Stone and how they care for her and Tobey. I can't wait to read her next book!!

I loved this second book in Calliope's series The Seattle Omegas. In this book we have Aurelia, sister-cousin to Brynn, from On Thin Ice. After being pushed down a flight of stairs by her ex-husband when her son Tobey was only three months old, Aurelia has limited mobility in her legs and uses a wheelchair. After five years of being free of her ex with both a divorce and his release of parental rights, Aurelia begins to move on with her family both mentally and physically when the family moved to Seattle. After a year of physical therapy at the sports complex that her dad and Uncle coach at, she finally decides to accept a date with Wilder, her Alpha Physical Therapist and soon meets his entire pack which includes Alphas, Colt, and Christa (twins), Beta Hideo, and Charlie, Colt's teenage son. Pack Stone are the owners of the sports complex and they all become enamored with both Aurelia and her five-year-old son, Tobey. As the pack's feelings become more intense for Aurelia and begin to formally include her and her son in the Pack, their fame brings Aurelia's past back into her life. After successfully keeping her sole parental rights after her ex tries to become a part of Tobey's life by suing her, she begins to bond with Pack Stone. After Charlie protects Aurelia from her ex, they finally can live free of him and can concentrate on their new family. This was a spicy but extremely sweet story. I loved the story and can't wait for the next book in the series.

😍😍

Those little heart eyes really sum up this book. I completely loved Seattle Omegas Book 1 and I was so excited to hear Aurelia was getting the next book. Aurelia is so strong and loves her people so much. She is a mama bear to her whole family not just her son. Tobey completely stole my heart which I was not prepared for since I typically am very hesitant to read books with kids/pregnancy.

Okay! Now the pack. This garden scented pack were so perfect for Aurelia and Tobey and the way they showed up over and over again had me smiling constantly while reading. We get to meet Colt, the driven but sweet CEO, and Wilder, Aurelia's snarky and adorable physical therapist, a bit in the previous book and I loved being able to get to know them more here. Both alphas are strong but ultimately just want to pamper their pack. Completing the pack are Christa and Hideo who are best friends and absolutely hilarious. Christa is an alpha and Colt's twin and she is just as strong and loving are the other alphas but has an awkwardness to her that I love. And Hideo. Ah, my heart. He is a beta and loves the twin alphas in very different ways that are both so special and fun to read. He is also brings a peace to the pack that is needed (even while being a high strung mess at work). And lastly, Colt has an almost-teenaged son, Charlie, who steals every scene he is in with his snark but caring personality.

I really loved the disability rep in this book! Aurelia uses wheelchair and Colt has a prosthetic leg. It's part of their day and their plans, but it doesn't ever distract from the characters. Nor is it viewed as something to heal and magically fix. The accommodations to the house made for Colt and Aurelia are so sweet and thoughtful. She isn't ever put in a position where the pack forgets she needs a wheelchair and infantilizes her for it either.

I will always love a omegaverse book that has MM and FF relationships depicted and this does have both! Calliope Stewart just has a way with her characters that always leaves me happy and ready for the next book.

This is book 2 in a series of interconnected standalones centered around ice sports. It can technically be read as a standalone but I'd recommend reading book 1 (On Thin Ice) first, as you see the main characters again in book 2.

I loved this book! Aurelia is such a loveable FMC! She's sweet, yet strong and resilient... she's had to overcome so much in her life, and she does it while caring for everyone around her at the same time. And then, she meets Pack Stone... I don't know who is my favorite, I think I love them all for different reasons! It's my first time reading an MMFFM omegaverse but I enjoyed the FF scenes. Christa was so cute, with her social awkwardness... I was rooting for Colt and Hideo the whole time! And sweet gentle giant Wilder had my heart from the start! I'm not usually the biggest fan of the single mom trope, but in this case, I ended up liking Tobey, he was cute. I liked how Aurelia's relationship with each of the pack members evolved throughout the book, and I really hope we'll get to see even more of them in the following installment in this awesome series! I actually have already pre-ordered book 3!

I recommend this book to anyone who loves omegaverse romances, and would like to dip their toes in hockey romance... you'll love it!

I read the first book in this series, and loved it, but wasn't sure what to expect of Aurelia's story. I just finished this a few minutes ago, and I loved it! The balance between the spice, the angst, and the character building is perfect! I love how much real knowledge of those with disabilities was put in this book, but not so much that it seemed the author was overselling the idea. Really, it was great. Also, having sibling alphas, one male and one female, share an omega with another alpha and a beta was a great twist; there are tons of omegaverse books where brothers share one woman, so although the idea of different gendered siblings sharing a partner is unusual,(nothing between them though, in fact they are never in the same room when the other is in a sexual scene with Aurelia) it was still great and definitely added interest. Aurelia hasn't had an easy life, even before her husband, and seeing her HEA was wonderful. And the Dad's HEA as well! Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The book hangover has already begun... 😕 I recommend this to anyone wanting a sexy book with a great story that is written well.

Let me tell you I devoured this book and it still left me hungry for more. More time with each of the characters, more of the banter and play, more sexy time, more exploration of the emotional depth each member of the pack brings to the table. She made the characters so lovable in such a short period of time without it seeming obvious which I know takes real talent. I will say the romance between the characters did feel very insta-love to me but I am here for it so I was happy to jump in as the characters explored each other.
I think the author did a FANTASTIC job exploring an incredibly broad number of very difficult topics: abuse, trauma, physical ability differences, single parenting, panic attacks, bullying, and sexuality exploration. The plot carried enough momentum to have my heart racing as we reached the climax of the primary conflict but wasn't overly emotionally distressing which is something I am very grateful for after having suffered many an emotional trauma at the hands of books. Calliope Stewart remains one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series!!

This was a great omegaverse with plenty of heart, spice, and action. The main character Aurelia is trying to move on from her past where her ex caused her to end up in a wheelchair. The author did a beautiful job writing realistic characters with various mobility issues, abuse, and anxiety. I felt that these sensitive topics were represented well and respectfully. The characters weren't made into a stereotype where their disability was their entire personality, instead it was just a part of them that they had to deal with. The pack members were all amazing and unique and I appreciated that Aurelia took the time to know them each individually instead of just instantly falling into the pack. Some of the main characters also had kids who were the cutest and funniest thing ever. Sometimes kids in books can be unrealistic or annoying but these two were hilarious and added to the story. One of my favorite parts of this book was the growth that Aurelia goes through. It was amazing to watch and I was rooting for her the entire time. If you love omegaverse you don't want to miss this book that has plenty of spice but a great story to go along with it.

I absolutely adore this series so much, I loved Brynns story but I think Aurelia’s is my new favorite . She is just so sweet and strong. Not to mention her adorable son Tobey. He’s such a gem . In this book we read about Aurelia and get to see what happened to her and how she ended up the way she is now. Though she is strong and pushing through each day, she still struggles from the past, and her ex. We were introduced to Wilder in Brynns story but now we get to read all about the alpha who infuriates Aurelia so much, and we meet his amazing pack including the hunky CEO Cole. I absolutely fell in love with Christa and Hideo Instantly. Their banter and humor out through the book is just amazing and had me laughing out loud. This pack was perfect for Aure, they truly cared about her, and they fell in love with each other so wonderfully. I’m so happy she got her HEA , she and Tobey deserved it. Def can’t wait to read Ciara’s story next. It’s about time her anti-pack butt gets into gear !!! If I could rate this more then 5 stars I would

This was a good Omegaverse book, with an interesting pack. A little bit different from most other Omegaverse stories.

We have a beta and female alpha and two male alphas. Each individual has a romantic relationship with Aurelia, the omega, but only the beta and one of the alphas have a romantic relationship between each other. Everyone else is platonic.

Wilder gets the romance started, but then basically fades into the background until he’s almost a non entity in the story and pack.

Colt and Hideo have been in a pack together for nearly a decade and have been interested just as long, but only end up romancing each other when Aurelia shows up. I liked their story, but it distracted from the main romance and character development of the rest of the pack.

I appreciated Christa the female alpha, but she had no chemistry with anyone, including Aurelia.

The kids were good characters and played a central role in the story.

I did like the plot with the ex husband. It was interesting and felt somewhat realistic.

I've been interested in Aurelia's book since we met her in On Thin Ice. Aurelia is a victim of domestic violence, and she's relegated to a wheelchair a big part of her life. But she's still emotionally strong, raising her son and supporting her family.

What I loved about Breaking the Ice was how Pack Stone treated Aurelia and her disability. They never judged her or babied her, they just accepted her abilities and worked around it. And it was so sweet how they acted as parents. It was realistic; Cole made some mistakes, but he did everything in his power to make sure his son was happy and healthy.

I thought the romance was sweet, but I felt a lack of connection between them. I wasn't quite sure what drew them together, as other than Wilder, it was a bit instalovey. The sex scenes were well written and hot and I enjoyed the inclusion of MM and FF scenes.

Another great read by Calliope Stewart!

This is such a different omegaverse because it features a disability that the FMC has and just let me tell you, it is beautifully written. There is FF in this and I am not big on it so I was able to just skip/skim over it and still be able to understand the rest of the story. This book comes together better if you read On Thin Ice first since it is interconnected because of the characters.
The FMC, Aurelia, is single mom-ing after running away from her controlling and manipulative ex alpha (that never marked her). She obtained her injury/disability from said alpha. She escapes him and ends up meeting a pack, one alpha from that pack being her physical therapist. Everything comes together throughout the book even though she needs to face her past first in order to get what she wants in her future. There is an alpha in this that also has disability and I absolutely loved that about this. So excited for more omegaverse from this author!

Breaking the Ice

Now this adds some elements I don’t necessarily always read or choose to read but, I think it worked quite well in this book. This book follows Aurelia and her time finding her pack which ends up being an already-made pack (so, the members already formed a group rather than building it on the way). It also contains a brother and sister duo which was what I was slightly hesitant about as I do not normally choose books with two females but, it worked well and the book was enjoyable to read.

I always love seeing the time and development put into the relationships for this author and I am never disappointed. Not only does Stweart truly allow time for the characters to develop but, also the representation of a character who is in a wheelchair. I really like how this book had a focus on healing and relationship rather than the first book which had a bit more of the hockey element so, this one has emotion and feels all wrapped together.

I really enjoyed this book! The portrayal of disabilities and events that trigger ptsd were very well written. My biggest frustration had to probably be concerning the judicial system. The way events happened leave me with some questions. But otherwise, I really enjoyed the story. Even being the more introverted "sister" Aurelia shined in this story. Each member of the pack had a very unique personality and struggles of their own. While there are plenty of darker stories out there, this story can potentially be emotionally exhausting or triggering. It could have been easy for Aurelia's story to be overlooked because she doesn't have the fame, skills, or exuberance as the other two. However Aurelia is the behind the scenes omega who keeps everything running. She is a great character, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is definitely someone I'd hang out with in real life and I'm glad she got her HEA! Totally worth reading and continuing the series!

Didn’t know i needed this!

This was such a great read! Aurelia Tobey and pack Stone was everything and more! I loved how everyone was so patient and wiling to learn for their Omega! They took everything in stride! Colt and Hideo FINALLY revealing their feelings for one another was PEAK! Wilders and Aurelia’s banter had me giggling and kicking my feet! Loved it! Christa and her anxious yapping was so funny! I’m really glad that she got to bond 1st with Aurelia. Aurelia noticing how Christa was always chosen last and she made that decision with everyone’s support was awesome! Let’s not forget our Charlie! Showed a great depiction on a teenager! He was such a fun character to read about! Colt doing his best as his dad! There was plot! Amazing character development, the angst with the court case dealing with the ex! Everything came full circle and Aurelia and Tobey got the HEA and the pack they deserved! Can’t wait for Cierra’s story!
