After meeting Seattle’s bad-boy hockey star, my game plan was simple: avoid Reed Wallace like the plague. So why am I asking him to take my V-card just one week later?
He’s everything I know I should avoid. Arrogant. Cocky. Notorious. With tattoos covering a body built for sin and piercing, gray-blue eyes that can make a girl forget her own name, he’s the personification of temptation.
From the first moment we met, he’s made it clear that he wants me. But I know I shouldn’t want him back. And I’m a girl who always does what she should.
At least—I was.
After a lifetime of following other people’s plans for me, I’m learning to become a new person. My own person. I don’t need to be that girl who always does what she’s supposed to anymore.
Reed needs a fake girlfriend to rehabilitate his image. I need a man with experience help me make up for lost time and experience in the bedroom. It’s the perfect match.
This time, for once, I think I’ll do something I’m really not supposed to.
Hey, it's not like a I can fall for a guy like Reed Wallace, right? And even if I do, it's not like he can break my heart ...

Spice? On a panty melting level.
Angst? Some, but not much at all.
REVIEW In the words of both the heroine and the hero: Wow.
After this read, I'll be going down the hockey romance rabbit hole once again, it seems. Starting with the author's Hot Shots series.
Penelope, our sweet and sassy heroine, is finally putting herself and her wants, dreams, and desires first. Moving right across the country on a whim definitely turns out to be fulfilling for her, in more ways than one, if you know what I mean. Love that for her!
And Reed, our handsome and sexy and just incredible hero... Ever the team player, he leaves his playboy ways behind him, for the sake of the team and its image. But that doesn't stop him from lusting after Penelope, the one woman that seemingly wants nothing to do with him. Until she does...
Penelope asking Reed to take her v-card turns into a fake relationship. And wow, their fake relationship sure is sizzling hot and heart-achingly sweet.
I cannot recommend this book enough. A page-turner would be an understatement. My love for hockey romances is 100% back, as strong as ever. Because of this book. The plot has all the right elements; the writing is really freaking good; the sex scenes were, well, damn sexy, especially the bj scene; the banter, oh my god, I had a smile on my face half the time I was reading; both the heroine and the hero are pretty damn likable, their character arcs are believable, making me rejoice in their growth. And the progression from a fake relationship to the real deal? Both natural and beautiful.
If you are looking for a story about a sassy, virgin heroine, who's ready to live her own life, and a hot-as-hell, charming, and surprisingly affectionate hockey player in need of a fake girlfriend, then this is definitely the right book for you.

She just couldn't take it anymore. Penelope decides, to finally take her life back even if, it means no contact or financial aid, from her parents. Her whole life had been mapped out for, her since birth pretty much. When she was younger she wanted, to make her daddy happy. But, he took it too far. Dictating schools, classes, internships, and even activities. All to benefit him in the end. How, do you ask? He would finally retire from the sixteen-hour days, and she would take them over. Yipee, she would be the one, looking at boring spreadsheets all-day. So, since she was supposed, to drive back from California, to Boston. She gets her father, to agree with her sightseeing, along the way.
Hence, Seattle. And well, she likes it so well, she now has a job as a photographer for, the Gazette, and, an apartment over a coffee shop. Both courtesy of her only friend, Darla. The owner of the photography shop, Darla is a very grandmotherly type. Photography has always been her joy. But, she is starting, to realize that she has a book in her so, she is trying her hand at writing a romance. She is also taking a painting class, too. I feel a theme here that, Penelope has been stifling her creative side, to please her dad. Penelope is at the coffee shop trying to work on the book and having writer’s block. As is typing and retyping the phrase, How does sex happen? she doesn't realize she is also saying it out loud.
When she hears the deep, masculine, velvety voice which is, as sure as shite directed at her. He says, “Well, for me, introducing myself usually does it. Some people have to work harder, though.” her slow perusal up from her notebook and now up his large, muscular, toned body, and then she realizes he is incredibly tall. This man, Reed is not only in great shape, handsome like a sexy model type, but has expensive taste in well-made clothes. But, even with the sexy pouty lips, his eyebrows are cocked up in intrigue above his crisp, icy, blue-gray eyes but it’s that cocky little smirk that makes her pissy as it peeks out behind his stubble. Yup, the spell broke reality check!
Her embarrassment hits full force, a yelp escapes, her face turns beet red (not as red as her hair), and she slams her notebook closed. She accuses him of reading her work. She leaves, and he gives chase. The first half of the book is funny cat-and-mouse mishaps of him trying to get a date with her. But, then she makes an offer Reed can’t refuse. No, he really can't because Reed needs, a fake girlfriend orders from the owner. But, once this starts they become friends. See the friendship turn into more. I so enjoyed their journey. Two people who basically, had no one. At least no one, they could rely on.
*Fake Out Shot* was one of those books that makes you smile from the very first page to the last. The couple here were basically **walking cuteness**, honestly like a "green flag in motion." There wasn’t a single moment where their behavior felt toxic or annoying. I absolutely loved how their personalities fit so perfectly together, and every scene showed just how right they were for each other. Their relationship grew slowly and naturally, but at the same time fast enough to make your heart race and keep you excited for the moment they finally admitted their feelings. What I loved the most was how genuine their emotions felt—no over-the-top drama, just raw, real feelings that made every moment so enjoyable. Honestly, I had such a great time reading this, and I think it’ll stay one of my favorite sports romances for a long while.
Miss Lyssa Lemire slays again, I literally devoured this book in one setting.
Penelope was incredible! She was sweet and determined to live up to her passion, She’s definitely a hardworking queen.
Reed was the absolute best, he was possessive, protective, funny…basically all the above for an mmc. And just so you know, Reed was the biggest simp for Penelope, like girly pops had him WHIPPED.
I know I say this all the time about every book I read but these two were pure perfection.
𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗦: Hockey romance, virgin heroine, fake dating, frenemies to lovers, friends with benefits, forced proximity
The author has done a brilliant job with Reed & Penelope's story. The dynamic that's created between Reed & Penelope + supporting characters is what sells the book. You have a serious side & I absolutely love how Penelope won't put up with Reed's crap & will call him out on it. Will either have the courage to voice their true emotions? A fantastic start to a series. I can't wait to see what the author writes next.

Penelope has finally broke away from what she was supposed to do when she finished college. She ends up in Seattle instead of Boston where he meets and falls for the hot, single hockey player she just can't get out of her mind even when she has to end their fake relationship only to realize she's been in love with Reed for a very long time. Will they find their way back to a love that will last forever?
This is a great book. Can't wait for more.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Reed and Penelope’s story. Reed is a swoony, star hockey player, and playboy, while Penelope is sweet and caring. These two fake dates to improve Reed’s image, but what happens when feeling turn into more? This is a well written story which has combustible and undeniable chemistry, witty banter, humor, emotions, friendships, family, matchmaking, and love, which leads to a steamy page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Their first meeting was very interesting. Then they enter into a fake dating relationship to improve Reed's image but it soon turns real for Penelope and Reed. I like the friend who plays matchmaker to get them back together when Penelope caves to the pressures to be what her family wants. I like how both Penelope and Reed both make getting together possible and do it.
Hockey and fake dating?! Count me in! Loved it from the beginning.
Reed’s insecurities from his childhood, the way he feels used by everyone in his life… and Penelope’s need to be the one her parents wants her to become… they’re both so alike without even knowing it. Sad and unhappy. But together, they thrive, they laugh, they talk. And they’re happy.
And the bonus scene in their future? Just perfect!!
A fantastic start to a new series by this amazing author!!
Unputdownable blend of combustible chemistry, a swoony hero, a sweet heroine, witty banter, entertaining secondary characters, and volcanic levels of steam and a fantastic start to a new series by this amazing author. I can’t wait to see what she writes next. Happy reading everyone

An awesome sports romance. So much cheeky banter at the start plus some funny lines. Then a fake relationship that quickly turns real and steamy! So much to enjoy.

I really enjoyed this hockey romance. I was happy with the characters and more importantly the story. It has some spice and charm that makes you feel good. I have read several of her books and have enjoyed them all.
Where to begin. I started highlighting descriptive passages that were painfully written and then gave up because how many times can you tab someone's muscles being referred to as 'jagged' before you wonder if you're reading a romance novel or a quarry operation manual?
loved this one...Reed was so addictive in the ways he turned their fake relationship to real and Penelope was just a beautiful soul wanting to be loved. These 2 were perfect for each other. Very beautiful storyline that's was refreshing and easy to read.
