In this sequel to Three Wishes, Brandt Hughes, brother of Maya Hughes, is consumed by guilt from the deaths of this wife and young son four years ago. Every day is a battle for survival, a battle that he’s not sure he wants to win. When his former commanding officer calls for a favor, Brandt readily accepts, not realizing this choice is about to change his life forever. His journey to the South Florida town of Serena Bay is about something more than helping to renovate and old It’s about meeting the one woman whose love can save him.

Let me just say, Seressia Glass has completely won me over with "Through the Fire." This book? Pure delight. It’s actually the second book featuring characters we glimpsed in "Three Wishes," but trust me, "Through the Fire" blazes its own path, telling a powerful and deeply moving story of two souls finding their way through the ashes of their pasts.
"Through the Fire" centers on Brandt Hughes, a character we met in "Three Wishes," and wow, is his story intense. Brandt is consumed by guilt and grief over the loss of his wife and son four years prior. Honestly, the book opens with him on the brink, barely holding onto life. Then, his old military buddy Mack throws him a lifeline – a job renovating a historic mission chapel in Serena Bay, Florida. What Brandt doesn't know is that the chapel belongs to Dr. Willow Zane, Mack's sister, a renowned psychologist and self-help author. Willow, author of "The Phoenix Principle" (which, brilliantly, was the book Maya gave Brandt in "Three Wishes"! Talk about a great tie-in!), is dealing with her own hidden emotional scars. As Brandt and Willow work together on the chapel, their connection deepens, becoming a source of solace and strength as they confront their deepest wounds. But, with secrets simmering beneath the surface, they have to navigate the delicate dance of vulnerability, passion, and trust to see if their chance at happiness will ignite or be consumed by the flames of their past. Just a heads-up: there are brief but important mentions of assault and suicide in this story, so be aware of that going in.
"Through the Fire" is a phenomenal book. Seressia Glass has crafted a romance that is not only exciting and steamy but also deeply profound and emotionally resonant. It’s a story about two wounded people finding their way to healing and love, and it's a journey that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. I was immediately drawn in by the characters and their heartfelt situations, and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone looking for a truly satisfying, exciting, and dramatic romance that’s about so much more than just the surface level.
Absolutely, unequivocally recommend! If you love emotional, character-driven romances with a touch of suspense and a healthy dose of steam, "Through the Fire" is a must-read. If you appreciate stories that delve into the complexities of trauma and healing, and are looking for a romance that is both heart-wrenching and hopeful, you will be captivated by Brandt and Willow’s journey. Just be aware of the trigger warnings and prepare to be moved. I’m already planning a reread – it’s that good!
A phenomenal and deeply moving romantic suspense that earns a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. "Through the Fire" is a masterfully written story of love, loss, and healing, with unforgettable characters, simmering romance, and a powerful message of hope that will resonate with readers long after the story ends.

This was a very good book. Willow and Brandt are both people in need of finding and working their way on a healing path to live their lives more fully. Spending time with one another helps them to start moving towards love that will also work to help them heal individually and move forward to build a life together. I like that the author did not make their love instant but gave them time work on themselves as they move towards something hopeful.

Very well written romantic suspense. Great characters with depth. I enjoyed getting to know them and their heartfelt situations. They truly help one another and their journey to love is a little edgy without being overwhelming, emotional and steamy.
