कर्म आणि पुनर्जन्माविषयी मौलिक विचार ही भारतीय दर्शनाची मोलाची देणगी आहे. कर्मगती फार गहन - गूढ आहे, कारण आपले जीवनच गूढ आणि गुंतागुंतीचे आहे. एक माणूस सुखी तर दुसरा दु:खी - असें कां? जे लोक सदाचारी, पापभीरू, प्रामाणिक जीवन आचरीत असतात, ते दु:खी जीवन भोगीत असतात याउलट सुखासीन आयुष्य जगणारा सदाचारी असतोच असे नाही, जगात असा विरोधाभास पहिला, की परमेश्वरावरील आपली श्रद्धा डळमळू लागते, वाटू लागते की ईश्वराच्या राज्यांत काही न्याय - नीती आहे कां? का सगळीकडे अंधेर नगरीच आहे? पण वस्तुस्थिती अशी आहे कीं ईश्वरी राज्यांत अंधारही नाही वा अन्यायही नाही. ही गोष्ट योग्य रीतीने लक्षात यावयास, कर्म - फल नियमांचा अभ्यास करण्याची नितांत गरज आहे.

स्वामी विवेकानंदानी म्हटल्याप्रमाणे, आपण सर्व जसे आहोत आणि जे काही होऊ इच्छीतो त्यास आपण स्वत: जबाबदार आहोत. आज आपण जसे आहोत तो जर आपल्या पुर्वकर्माचा परिणाम असला तर त्यातून नक्की फलित होते की भविष्यात आपण जे काही होऊ इच्छितो ते आपल्या आजच्या कर्मातून निर्माण होऊ शकते, आणि म्हणूनच जगताना आपली भूमिका काय आणि कशी असावी याचे ज्ञान आपणास असणे आवश्यक आहे.

कर्म म्हणजे काय, कर्मगती म्हणजे काय? कर्म या संकल्पनेविषयी निगडीत अशा गोष्टींचा साध्या, सोप्प्या, भाषेत केलेला उलगडा म्हणजे हिराभाई ठक्कर यांचे कर्माचा सिद्धांत हे पुस्तक होय.

Absolutely sensible writing, simplifying the ancient and yet eternally applicable laws of Karma. If only the translator had not spoiled it with his ineptitude!

A must-read for anyone interested in learning more about the concept of Karma. But it would be advisable that you read this book in any language other than English. Pathetic translation. Poor editing that lets spelling and grammatical errors galore all through! Repetitive at times too.

An easy, comprehensive book to learn about the Hindu theory of Karma. This book conveys grand theories articulately through the simplest of vocabulary and anecdotal examples. I wish I found this book much earlier. Although its controversial points need to supplemented through prior understanding of karma/Hinduism, its still a recommended read, to go as deep in thought as you want.
