Its broad coverage of essential topics includes black women, important political and religious leaders, churches, schools, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and entertainers. MARKET For an appreciation of the central place of black people and culture in this country, and a better understanding of both African-American and American history.
I read this textbook for my African American History class, and really enjoyed it. It's well-written, easy to read, enjoyable in it's language usage and while blunt in illustrating the abuses suffered throughout time, it also handles it in a classy manner.
