Featuring 22 innovative patterns for all skill levels, this book includes projects from 20 top knitwear designers, including Veronik Avery, Norah Gaughan, Mags Kandis, and Kristin Nicholas . From a zenith carpet bag to a felted messenger bag to a delicate purse with handles made of bracelets, each project features gorgeous photographs and step-by-step instructions, and all techniques are explained in easy-to-understand detail. Whether an avid bag knitter or creating one for the first time, this book has all the inspiration, technique, and details crafters need.
I found it difficult to follow the language of the patterns. I think I should try to look for a simpler book first. I also did not really like any of the bags as much as to give it a try.
This is the cover of the book. I personally liked the bag in the jacket more than the one in the cover, but I decided to give the book a shot anyway.
These are a couple of interesting bags. The triangular one is not my piece of cake, but the tote bag was kind of cute.
One thing I found really helpful was the diagrams with the different bag shapes and their names. I think this was a good detail from the author.
This is one of my least favorites. Why in the world would one want to have a bag that looks like a bag of potatoes?
This is a little old-fashioned, but I would probably take the idea to try to make something more current once I have a better grasp of the techniques.
And that was that. Not many bags to select from either. Really, I think this book is a little out of date. I will look for something more in fashion in the shelves.
This is in my Amazon cart to get when I have a bit extra ... not only are the designs excellent and unique, the last 15 pages are a "design notebook" giving tips on designing your own bags and purses ...
There are 20 patterns in this book. 17 are knit, 3 are crochet. Why did they even bother to include crochet? Most of the bags could have been crocheted. It would have been much better if they had given both knit and crochet instructions for each bag.
Not one pattern in this book interested me enough to even bookmark it and several patterns seemed unattractively baggy to me. I've read several other books in this series so I was a bit disappointed. Photography is nice and the book is attractively designed, at least.
This was a book that I couldn't wait to read and try the patterns when I bought the book in 2009. I was in the process of building my knitting library. I love the bag on the front cover and that made me want to buy the book. I do have several patterns bookmarked. This book also has great pictures and pattern instructions. In each of the "Style" knitting books, there is a notebook in the back with specifics about the subject of the book and how to make each project a finished one. It is good to go back and find projects you thought were important to do and you might not find them so now. There maybe some new projects that you hadn't thought about doing. Happy Knitting!!
This was a nice book to look through - the patterns were interesting and intriguing. I also loved how many pictures they had of each design, it was a great way to see all the dimensions of the bag and what it truly looked like. The book's layout was nice as well and I felt like it was easy to navigate through. I'd recommend this book.
Not the biggest selection of patterns I like, but this book gets 5 stars for the creative "how to make your own bag" section. It gives details on designing your own purses and how to make them off of simple sketches. I notice that a lot of pattern books don't want you to learn how to create your own patterns, but Bag Style kind of rocks that way!
I was never a bag obsessed person. I just need one to keep my knitting projects and another for all the life misc. stuff. I like to keep it simple and washable. This has some cute ideas for knitted and felted handbags. I wouldn't make any but i still think most of them were lovely. 128 pages and borrowed from the library and won't be buying this in the future 3 stars
A nice book full of bags to knit. Some of the bags are way too colorful for my taste but changing the colors can fix that. Two of my favorite patterns are the knitting needle bag on page 25. Also the Ipod Pocket on page 73 is cute.
Fantastic patterns! Can't wait to make the bag on the cover, as well as some of the other bags in the book. Looks like it will be an interesting study in knitting structure.
