Echo Bodine didn't want to be a psychic. In fact, she resisted it for a large part of her life. She tried to ignore the voices she heard, the spirits she saw, and the way her hands got warm when she was near a sick person. She just wanted to get married and have kids like the other girls in her town. But Echo couldn't. Relax, It's Only a Ghost is the story of how she eventually came to terms with her psychic abilities and started to put them to work helping people. Have a house that won't sell? Call Echo. She'll find the ghosts and help them to 'the other side.' Feel a chill when you go into certain rooms of your home? Probably a former tenant who doesn't want to leave. He'll take persuading, and Echo knows how to do it. Echo relates tales that are often funny, sometimes unnerving, and always warmly ingenuous. They will reassure the millions of people who think they may have ghosts in their lives. After all, as Echo's inimitable refrain tells us, "Ghosts are just like everybody else. They just happen to be dead." Read about... * Roy, the ghost who didn't like children * Martha, whose house was home to several different ghosts, including two small children giggling in the closet and a prayer group in the living room! * Bob, the ghost who was in love with the owner of the house he inhabited * Bill, the policeman ghost who protected the woman in the 'massage parlor' * Kevin, the ghost who didn't know he was dead
I really enjoyed this little book!!! As a God-Believer but also a Spiritual Sensitive, it was SO refreshing to see a Professional who is both as well. Her stories just made me feel like I was listening to her talk over coffee. She gave life to those who have left, and i learned SO much about energy beyond death. Very rarely do I leave a book and immediately look up other books by the same author! But I did with Echo !!
Don't judge me. I read this book in a day and i loved it. I would really love to believe in the authors ability as a "ghostbuster" as she calls it. It was very cool and interesting at least. And somewhere down deep I totally believe her.
A good read, makes me want to learn more about all this stuff...
Overall an interesting book. I learned a lot and it's refreshing to read someone who is a believer but also a medium. It feels very safe to me. It definitely has me thinking. And it was a short physical read! It was written easily like a conversation so my dyslexia didn't get too bad!
the books was ok. but the chapter on Bobby Mackey was good. I think she needs to go back there because there's a lot going on there I watch ghost adventures and that place is crazy.
A very interesting book from a very experienced psychic, author and ghostbuster. The collection of true stories range from the touching to the near terrifying and give a wide variety of situations and circumstances that cause people to stay on the earth plane after death.
The children who just wanted to play had me close to tears while the wild west bartender made me laugh and this is without real spoilers.
Echo Bodine has met many 'stuck' souls and gives important facts about the very real phenomena going on around us all the time. She tells us how to tell whether we have a ghost in the attic and what to do if we have. Also what not to do, which is equally important.
From a personal perspective, this is stuff I need to know and I gained a lot from reading. From a general perspective, this is a fascinating read packed with colourful characters and eye opening experiences. And from a haunted perspective, everything you need to know is in here!
This is one paranormal investigation you can do without anything more than a comfortable chair and a spare evening or two. A very quick and surprisingly light read, you won't be disappointed.
I’m going to honest, I believe in ghosts. I gave this book a 2 star because I didn’t believe the stories in this book. I hate to discount them if they’re true but there was just something about this book that had me questioning the legitimacy of it. Maybe it was the lack of detail associated with each story. May that was intentional so that she could fit in more stories and not have a huge book but I would’ve preferred a longer book with more details of each encounter.
Such a quick read! I've always been such a fan of the 'paranormal' world. This book isn't to scare you or anything. Simply a woman named Echo who was given the gift of being able to see spirits and help them to the 'other side'.
If ghosts are real then this simple, matter-of-fact recounting of encounters with them, and what they are and why they stick around is more realistic than the scarier and vaguer stories. The author is both a believer in God and a psychic, a refreshing combo as some think the two don’t mix.
I picked up this book when I was working at Barnes and Noble. I liked that she was a local author and I have always found the paranormal (ghosts, reincarnation.....) interesting.
I thought this was a nice little book. It's really short and can be read easily in one sitting. The book is very conversational in tone and their are both stories to entertain and advice for those who are dealing with ghosts.
She calls herself a "ghostbuster", but really she goes and helps people, living and dead. The book gives some basics and also examples of some cases she has had. A short book, but full and a fun read whether you believe in ghosts or not.
This is really good book! It also mentions some funny things that you could laugh with and at the same time, it gives pointers of how to handle ghosts and things in general.
Very enjoyable read about her early years as a "Ghost Buster." Very informitive also in giving info about the different spirits and why they might be around.
