Sonia was very fond of her half-brother George, and was only too delighted to be visiting him at his island home in the Caribbean. But she did draw the line at George using her, and her spectacular good looks, as bait in his business dealings with the impressive local Lord of the Isles, the haughty Rory Maragal. She was just not interested in the man! But whether she liked it or not, she just kept being pitchforked into his company — and meanwhile, George's behaviour had given him the lowest possible opinion of her. And then Sonia managed to play right into Rory Maragal's hands...
My mother always told me that someday I would meet a man who would love me so much he'd imprison me in a work camp, then propose to me while I was unconscious. If only she had warned me that my brother would try to pimp me out to the guy first -- that probably delayed our inevitable marriage. Oh well, I guess I'm just one of those lucky girls that men like so much that they kidnap me, imprison me, and drug me!
JC was on to something. She sculpts the un PC hero to perfection. I love vintage HP finds and JC is a treasure. I enjoyed the jealous rages, the battle of wills, the stolen kisses, and the ridiculousness of the plot. I didn't mind if the plot started having aliens take over the earth, but I couldn't pull myself away from Rory and Sonia's chemistry. When chemistry happens it becomes magical.
This story is bananas. Heroine travels to the Caribbean to visit her older brother and promptly lands herself in controversy when the hero ( her brother’s boss and lord of isle) takes an interest in her. The heroine has no interest in the hero – or any men for that matter. She just wants a relaxing vacation.
The hero is a true psycho. He is convinced the heroine stole some jewels from him and has her sent to prison while she awaits trail. “Luckily” she is sent to a prison camp where all the inmates work during the day at a resort. Her job is looking after the kiddie pool. Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t think incarcerated people and young children are good mix.
Yes, the heroine is innocent. Yes, the heroine’s brother is useless. Yes, the hero did it all for love. And no, I don’t think this was love by any stretch of the imagination.
I can’t provide any other details since I read it a month ago and this story didn’t make sense anyway.
Take a close look at the cover and it tells you everything you need to know. You won’t need to read the book. There is a bleached blonde very hard looking woman not in her first blush of youth with a look of defeat on her face. Behind her is a man that has hooded eyes so that you can’t see them. He acts as though in total control. His stance is nonchalant. They look like a tiger and trainer but the whips are invisible. Is that a bruise on her right flank?
The girl wants to jump in the ocean and swim away and he knows that will never happen. He sets up a trap that a moron would recognize and she falls in to it because she has no judgment when it comes to men. Her brother uses her other island acquaintance uses her and almost killed her, her ex fiancé is not much better so she chooses a man who had her thrown in jail. Great choice!! Always pick a man who’s never used the word please in his life. He cannot believe that she doesn’t understand the great honor he is doing her by asking for her company. Swim girl swim, drowning might be better than this.
It was slow and boring with much time wasted on the h and her SIL and brother. They occupy more word exchange with the h than the H himself.
Strange plot. The h is easy going and living a great life. She’s called onto an island where her brother works and he doesn’t let it on to anyone that it’s his little sister. The H owns the island and the brother wants to strike a contract with him. The little sister is to be used as bait to lure him or such.
The plan fails cuz little sister isn’t any shy maiden. If anything the h was quite easy with her dating life and independence. The h would travel alone or with a bf to random places around the globe with no qualms over it. Anyone really could come and grab her and kiss her and she’d be okay with it.
I was already half interested seeing the h so easy with other guys. To put it out her independent streak rubbed me the wrong way. Plus she never had a sweet feminine thing to say to anybody.
The H is a bully. He wants her but mistreats her like she’s a little child, scolding and all. The h is ready to run away and just about clings on to any guy who could rescue her. There’s some drama and she has a concussion and she wakes up engaged.
The H says he never asked her cuz he couldn’t face being let down again. The h agrees to this.

i liked it bcoz the hero did all the pursuing! else, it was a total flop. i felt no connection on sonia's part. she did not fall in love at any point, was indifferent and annoyed most of the time! rory did not even get to mix wid her a lot as she did her best to avoid him. he was obviously totally besotted wid her but the feeling, was not mutual.
OMG.. Rory is such a psycho. At about 60 percent mark into the book if I were Sonia, I would not have waited for that ferry to get of the island, I would've jumped without delay and swam for the mainland, as far away from the creep as possible.
I know the other reviewers were not keen, but this was such fun! The heroine (22) is studying at Cambridge for a Physics degree but comes out in the holiday to visit her much older step-brother and his wife to the island the hero owns. The brother wants the contract the hero (30s) is offering to build a hotel on the island and so gets his sister over to try and charm the hero (she thinks it will just be a holiday, but she is fabulous looking and the hero has seen her photo and asked the brother to meet her). There's an OM (son of one of the other businesses tendering for the contract) that drives the hero mad with jealousy, and she has invented a fiancé to divert the hero from trying to dominate her. There's also a want-to-be OW who has no chance as the hero is besotted. Lots happen when she tries to avoid him, but it escalates into really odd directions, with a crazy ending. But it's so whack-tastic it can only be enjoyed. A solid 4 stars :-)
'And give you the pleasure of turning me down? Oh no, my love, we start as we mean to go on. You'll marry me because I say so.'
The story is certainly entertaining. The beauty is pursued relentlessly by the owner of the island where her beloved stepbrother lives. The beauty resists and plans to leave the island as she's scared of the pursuer. Only to be accused of stealing an heirloom. Unfortunattely, Jane Corrie got tired here and the ending is abrupt. Nogrovelling or big gestures in the end.
Be prepared to be blow away by the ending of this book. No not in a good way either! It was so bad it cringes. This book has an weird abrupt ending that fell so out of place. I was confused & petrified. The whole prison thing, no comment. The wine drinking scene? Huh??? This guy really marry her when she was unconscious. No it wasn’t cute. Imagine waking up from a fever & hey what do you know, you are married. Thank god it was to the hero & not some crazy dude...wait a minute LOL.
Its a catchy read but i frankly didnt like the way the Hero harassed the h...and i didnt look st her older brother as a pimp as he was actually trying to secure an advantageous marriage for his little sister, i mean after all he took good care of her after their parents death, so his being a "pimp" appeared abit exaggerated to me.
