I can't wait for next episode. Director Sarmad sultan Khoosat is doing a fabulous Job...Thumbs Up!!!
Started out good but dragged in the middle. Ashar's relationship with his daughter Hareem is the best part of the book. I thought Ashar was quite a bit of an idiot to be duped by his mother for so many years. Enjoyed the TV serial.
i just finished Humsafar a few hours back. its something above words n in tears!!!only i could say about it is that my tissue box emptied twice while reading it@ so keep ur bundle of extra tissues closer when u go for it!!!

4.5/5 - I loveee this booook so much and then the drama , i am fanatic for it !!!! It’s legit my Roman Empire 🥹 gets me addicted and heartbroken every single time !!! Every single time !!!
I know the plot has got issues, i mean Ashar had gotten issues but man i love the greeeen flag wala part to his character , the bond , the cuteness Ashar and Khirad carry, ooof !!! For me , the drama and the book is absolutely favt up till that fairytale part which was sooo beautiful and genuine, almost smth to soothe the heart at times, giving you a very false sense of hope that maybe a love like this will find us too where i am infatuated towards the person more after we get united // i sound unhinged cos that is what this drama and book does to me but these two people r my heart ok !!!
Ok, getting to the serious part - i’m gonna start off with the beautiful part of this plot and I’m gonna be talking especially with reference to the drama because it is more imprinted in my brain & more close to my heart when I’m talking about Humsafar! anyways so I really love the way the drama starts, especially Khirad’s character was so beautiful, she was shown as a very soft yet strong character, a perfect balance! I loved how she wasnt a bechari larki who had no self-respect or self-esteem & was all down & scared from the charismatic husband she got, I really loved the way she had so much self-esteem & i related to her allt on that part especially where she says that marrying Ashar felt insulting to her as he doesn’t acknowledge her presence, and it feels like being in someplace where one isn not wanted, which is so hurtful for her self respect!!! So I really really respect her for that because I think the way she was portrayed as someone very innocent and yet strong in her values added such a beautiful edge to her character! That just makes her so special then obviously the way their relationship takes a turn after that revelation , man !!! oh my God I loved it with all my heart and soul!!! and I must give Ashar credit as well here although i do admit he did have negative points to his character but I really really respect him for the way he didn’t ever disrespect Khirad or got rude despite their forced relationship setting, cos normally men do that alot in such circumstances, forcing their presence by being disrespectful! However, when they got married, he never made her feel like she was imposed on him in a direct manner, obviously he was as unhinged & clueless as Khurad keeping in mind the peculiar nature of their marriage, he didn’t know how to navigate the relationship either because both of them were equally lost so they were both not initiating the work towards it, but again I really really respect him for being the one who made her feel safe as much as he could as a husband, even when he didn’t like her much! especially the scene where she’s crying at midnight and he comes after her and tells her to never leave the room past midnight even if she wants to cry she could do that in the room!!! 🥹 I was like that that’s so cute & thoughtful
and then the way he really make efforts towards their relationship after he finds out that khirad has been feeling so low on her esteem because he doesn’t make her feel valued, & him breaking the ice between them, the way he tries his best to make her feel included in his life by taking her to events with him, always taking stand for her, making her feel valued when she doubts herself and then the small talks leading to this epic love they acquire for each other!!! i am sobbing, oh my God, I love that part and I think that if I could find such a love, I’m all down for it because their relationship was so beautiful, and it seemed smth so durable because they found each other after the blank dark part of their relationship, navigated their way towards each other & it worked so well for them!!!
Then comes the sad part, I have issues with Ashar as well as I don’t. I kind of give him the margin for some of his actions as well as i don’t, so I’m sorry if it seems something that you don’t agree with but i have reasons !!!
if I’m talking about his character, I really didn’t like the way he was so doubtful towards Khirad in the last few days of their relationship, and when the Khizar part came & he became weirdly doubtful towards Khirad even when he didn’t have any evidence of her being involved or even friendly with him, yet Asher felt like there was something going on between them, then they way he would get insecure & turn his mood off towards Khirad, i really wanted to slap him there !!! Also, the way he is sooo indifferent to her feelings before the plot twist comes, the way he ignores her over a pang of insecurity and doubt was sooo unokay of him, like man get yourself sorted, tf is this avoidant behaviour while you can clearly see you have messed up the girl’s mental health , that behaviour is really unjustified on his part , no logic behind sm toxic behaviour!
Cause wtf? If you are just persecuting your wife for being apparently liked by someone which she isn’t even aware of nor does she care about it, then maybe get it resolved by talking it out rather than just culminating doubts within yourself & taking it out on her despite her constantly trying to patch stuff up!!!
Then, I have mixed feelings about the entire plot twist where Khirad is accused of all the stuff and he at the time chooses not to believe her but then he comes back and he does ask his mother that I want to talk to my wife, but she lies to him about her running away, so I give him *a margin of being human* there for the fact he had to trust his mother because number one she had always portrayed herself as being very nice and sweet towards Khirad so he had no reason to not believe her or doubt her for some plotting, hence, he couldn’t doubt her judgment, i believe no son would! But I think on Ashar‘s part, despite all that was portrayed to him, it was essential that he listen to Khirad for once even if it was for the sake of ending things with her, a closure on his part but again I think he had his reasons , as he said that if he went after Khiard, he could have killed her out of rage so it’s better if he didn’t face her, plus the way his mother had portrayed Khirad as someone who had cheated on him and left with her so-called boyfriend, he obviously didn’t want to hear anything more than that because I think if I was in his position, maybe I’d do the same, I would trust my SWEET mother with my entire being cause which mother lies to her children especially if it could ruin their life, however, Ashar was unlucky in that regard :( then, the way the picture was painted in front of him, he didn’t want to face khirad, cause if you find out that your partner has APPARENTLY cheated on you despite you loving them so much and that as well, your SWEET mother tells you so, you have no reason not to believe her and you have no reason not to hate the person you have once loved so much !!!
now I have some issues with the plot too with respect to Khirad’s part because I think if she really wanted to make her position clear, calling Asher and sending him letters was not enough at all !!! it was not some small matter that you’re trying to clarify, but you’re trying to come clean out of this big big accusation and for that you have to confront him at least once !!! She should have tried to meet him face-to-face because I’m sure that would have had different results but she was just calling him and all that was not enough woman!!! I was really frustrated at her for not going after him despite it being so important matter for her to come out clean, yet idk what was stopping her, it’s not like she was in another country and he was in another. They were just a few miles apart and she could have gone easily to him, if she didn’t want to go then her Batool Khala could have gone and told him the reality but I really was frustrated at the part where no one was going after him physically to clear the position because that was extremely essential !!! & No, pls don’t come and tell me stuff like it wasn’t her fault so she didn’t need to clear her position!!! No, let me tell u, it was their marriage they were tryna save, not a petty relationship , plus she was expecting and she needed someone desperately on her side through that time, for the sake of her child at least, so it was essential on both part especially Khirad’s as she knew the reality not Ashar!! Therefore , who will trust you if you’re talking through phone or sending letters, obviously they have all the means to not listen to you but if you’re in front of them they will be forced to listen to you, even if they don’t want to, they can’t possibly ignore you!!! so I really wanted her to go and talk to him face-to-face. It would have helped a lot so that was a major loop hole & unrealistic in my opinion. It could have been different if she had gone there but I think if she did so , the story would’ve ended right there lol ! so the writer didn’t add that part which seemed pretty off to me!
Then, comes the relationship Ashar had with his daughter, that was soo damn cute & beautiful to read about, him being the most perfect parent to his daughter made my heart ache for them as they had missed out on so much, wish he was there for Khirad too when she needed his support so bad , j am sure he would have been such a great husband but … 😔
Coming towards the end , I have mixed feelings towards the fact that they got reunited! I am a pagal person so I deep down am reallly happy about them getting reunited although i know the dynamics might not be the same, there will be an air of melancholy & regrets almost always lurking around them! A part of me thought, as a woman , this guy has done a bad job being husband by the end by not trusting her despite loving her sooo muchhhh, but then again I think Asher was not entirely to be blamed keeping in mind the convincing circumstances he faced, so he was compelled to do all that! Not justified but giving him the margin here
To sum it up, I’ve got mixed feelings, I was happy for them getting reunited as well as a small part of me was sad :,) Also, the drama was so much better in my opinion as the chemistry between the characters was sooo on point there, and there were certain scenes which were portrayed better or were improvised making my heart 10x biggggger & my stomach flutter !!! 💗✨🥹⭐️🫶🏼

Finally today I am writing a review on this masterpiece. It was the First novel & drama of Farhat Ishtiaq that I have read & watched. Well firstly I watched the drama which was aired on Zindagi Channel and then read novel also. I can say Humsafar drama was best. Novel is also well written, there are various scenes in novel which were not shown in drama. Its a romantic, social fiction.
Let's talk about story and characters : Hareem's character was cute and the relationship between father & daughter was really wonderful. Actually I found Sarah's character more interesting in drama rather than novel. I felt very bad what happened to Khirad, her pain is really indescribable, but Ashar's pain was something we can't really understand, he was a promising son of his mother who blindly trusted her. Khizar such a stupid guy who loved Sarah a lot but didt know anything about her feelings which she had for Ashar. seriously stupid character according to drama. Ending was satisfying both ways.
A Desi household guide on how to plant the seeds of troubles and how to break up pretty normal marriages. The story is typically of a love triangle; phopho ki beti got the rich and pretty boy; while Saas and Bhanji went on a revenge scheme. Years later, Khirad returns with her sick daughter and a paternity claim. Ashar’s emotions and feelings towards his daughter is probably the most beautiful thing about this novel. Given the melodramatic emphasis of the cruelty the mother shows towards her duaghter-in law and her mental breakdown gives a clear and loud message; we need to be able to forgive each other and instil tolerance in order to coexist. Ps: Ashar was probably the first book character I ever fell in love with! 😄
One of Pakistani best novel of farhat ishtiaq based on true love story. It's very emotional and heart touching novel. A story of two czns. They meet again after 4 years after breakup with long time. Please read very lovely novel.
