Wilde, Nevada is proving to be more troubling than Jessie imagined, when, just as she falls for one hot cowboy, feelings also spring up for his brother Phoenix. Though it’s crazy and not without risk, she can’t help but welcome his possessive embrace.
Phoenix knows she’s the woman for him─and his four brothers. But there are those in Wilde who want to destroy them. Phoenix must win Jessie’s love, or they might lose their hearts. And their lives.
Chloe Lang began devouring romance novels during summers between college semesters as a respite to the rigors of her studies. Soon, her lifelong addiction was born, and to this day, she typically reads three or four books every week.
For years, the very shy Chloe tried her hand at writing romance stories, but shared them with no one. After many months of prodding by an author friend, Sophie Oak, she finally relented and let Sophie read one. As the prodding turned to gentle shoves, Chloe ultimately did submit something to Siren-BookStrand. The thrill of a life happened for her when she got the word that her book would be published.
I read book 1 and was disappointed but I wanted to give book 2 a shot. I still find the love scenes awkward but not as much as in the first book. Emotion is still lacking for me. Being told over and over the men love her and think she's special just isn't working. I find I want more showing than words of endearment.
The heroine is even more of a contradiction in book 2. I felt something was off with her in book 1 but attributed it to her being a virgin and uneducated in the act of sex/love but that isn't what is bothering me. At 25 she's supposed to be very smart with a good head on her shoulders. I'm not sure I've seen that yet. There is something about her that just isn't clicking.
I'm still intrigued enough with the mystery to keep reading the series. I already have book 3 ready to go.
This is the second in the series, and follows on directly from the first. Things are hotting up for Jessica, and all her boundaries are being pushed. As the Wilde brothers are certain she is the one for them, it is going to be interesting to reconcile the work issues, the number issues and the city-based ones, but we are given to believe they are up to the task!
Jessie may have lost her virginity in Wilde, Nevada but what she’s found with the brothers Wilde is worth more than all the silver this little cow town can mine in a year!
When last we visited Wilde, Jessie Green had been sent to investigate the multiple accidents that had plagued the mine and the Wilde family who owned and operated it. Jessie met and became intimately acquainted with four of the Wilde brothers. Youngest brother Jackson made the first impression on the inexperienced Jessie but she wasn’t unaffected by any of the sexy cowboys. In book two of The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada lucky readers get to know the multifaceted and talented Phoenix Wilde.
Phoenix caught my attention in book one because he seemed so serious. I really thought he would be harder to win over but next to Jackson he’s one of the first to really realize that Jessie may be their “one”.
Ms. Lang has a really terrific writing voice. She’s vivid and detailed without coming across and just trying to fill pages with flowery words. There is a point where Jessie is comparing Phoenix to the men she’s met in Manhattan and is noting the difference in their handling of women. Ms. Lang writes that “his manner was of a former era where women were spoiled rotten, cherished, and protected”. This is what I meant by vivid writing. You get a feel for the characters inside and out. Ms. Lang gives the reader brilliant insight into the thoughts of Jessie and Phoenix through POV changes throughout this short story. Readers better understand their emotions and motivation which breathes reality into their budding relationship.
There are plenty of “awww...” moments in Wilde Fire. Likewise, the danger is still present in Wilde so the underlying plot by an unknown evil will keep the reader on their guard for the next “accident”. This reviewer was highly anticipating the first time Jessie would meet oldest brother, Austin. It was worth the wait and it was filled with terrific tension. Jessie has just enough submissive in her to tweak his Dominant side and before they part ways the reader knows that Austin is more than a little interested.
Jessie is slowly accepting the fact that the brothers share her but is beginning to question their nontraditional tendency. Will she still be able to accept the brothers when she realizes they are looking for a forever kind of girl? And, did Jackson Wilde actually invent phone sex? Okay, probably not but you do not want to miss that conversation!
If this is your first trip to Wilde it isn’t too late to go back and read book one, Going Wilde, to get a first look and how it all began. These books are written with one story flowing into the next so I highly recommend reading them in order. If you’re hooked into Siren’s LoveXtreme line like I am and if you’re looking for a really fun author to follow, pick up Chloe Lang’s Wilde, Nevada series. You’ll walk away a fan of the writing and an automatic buy for the writer.Originally posted at http://whippedcream2.blogspot.com/201...
3.75 out of 5. Jessica Green continues her investigation of the mine mishaps in Wilde, NV, and the person or persons bent on running her out keep on with their hurtful plans as well. As in the first book, Jessie is attracted to one of the Wilde Brothers--Phoenix--and she is troubled at the strength of her response to him after her erotic encounters with his brother Jackson (Book 1). Jessica has never really encountered a marriage configuration with multiple husbands and so there is a struggle between her traditional understanding of marriage and her introduction to what the Wilde Brothers are seeking--to make her their wife. There is also the awareness that brother Austin continues to avoid her professionally and personally and to express some fairly negative responses to her. This novella is a continuation of this saga and there were aspects of the story that seemed to flow better now than in the first book. Jessie's life continues to be in danger and she is distracted from her need to find out who is sabotaging the mine operation because of the involvement with the brothers. Again, this story would have been enhanced greatly if the author was not bound by the restrictions of a novella format. I don't know if that was the decision of the publisher, but this writer has some evident talent and skills that I don't think she has room to let loose. What she has accomplished is that readers are given enough of the story that they can move forward in the saga, but left hungry for the next installment. And as always, I don't like paying full ebook price for a novella. Probably just me . . .
I enjoyed reading Wilde Fire [The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada 2] (Siren Publishing LoveXtreme Forbidden), all about Jessica the investigator sent from Washington DC to investigate the accidents at the Wilde Mine & Jackson, Phoenix, Dallas, Denver & Austin Wilde all brothers and owners of the Wilde Mine. In this series it starts with book 1 & goes to book 6 and it's all about the Wilde Mine and the brothers & the investigator. Each book's story is a continuation and the characters all make the stories come to life. In book 2 Jessie is starting to have feelings for the four brothers, but she doesn't understand why they are not jealous of one another, but when ever she puts up a token of resistance the guys just shut her down and tell her to trust them. More accidents happen in this book involving her and Phoenix's horse Demon. Everything is being kept hush hush, and Phoenix has vowed to be her driver, and never leave her side until she leaves town. I can't wait to read book 3. I hope you take the time to read this series and fall madly in love with the Wilde brothers. My two favorites are Jackson the lil bro & Phoenix. Read this series because it will make you laugh, cry, sigh, shake your head & cum up a storm! The Wilde brothers are extremely sensual!
Wilde Fire, the second book in The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada series, begins to weave a solid storyline while still holding back enough to create a suspenseful read. A love hexagon with six lovers in one relationship, this book focuses mostly on the heroine’s developing relationship with just one of the brothers. Like the first book, this is also a quick read with a fluid flow.
Jessie, who had come to Wilde, Nevada to investigate accidents in the local mine, meets Jackson Wilde and his four brothers, Phoenix, Dallas, Denver, and Austin. After Jackson, who she fell for in the first book, is called away on a business trip, Jessie spends time with Phoenix who charms her nearly as much as Jackson. And here comes the hot chemistry I felt was missing from the first book.
Now I am sold on the series and am eagerly looking forward to the next release. A quick notation that readers must read this in order because of the nature of the series... just go out and get them both because you won’t want to read the first without having this one to start right away. It’s just better that way.
I will start off by stating that you really do need to read the first book in this series, as this is a continuous story that is intertwined with each of the previous as well as the upcoming novels. I loved how much more I got to know Jessie, Phoenix, and Jackson in Wilde Fire compared to the previous tale. The emotional boundaries that Jessie has inside of her are explained in great detail in this story and it allows us to finally see why she is the way she is. The characters are strongly shown in this book and Ms. Lang has done a bang up job of giving us a very tantalizing tale. I cannot wait to see who is up next in this ongoing saga of the Wilde brothers and the very lucky lady who seems to be claiming all of their hearts one story at a time.
Jumbled emotions, near death experiences and the ever present hot and sexy Wilde brothers, all make for conflicting loyalties in this second edition of Wilde, Nevada. No wonder Jessie's confused when the delicious Wilde brothers refuse to leave her alone, but still haven't come clean about what they want and what Jessie's role will be. Danger is ever present, and someone has Jessie in their sights! As the mystery intensifies, the brothers are more determined than ever, to protect what's theirs and convince Jessie it's OK to love more than one man. OMG....the suspense is mind blowing! I can't wait for more!
Part two in the Wilde series. Jackson has left town on business and asked Phoenix to keep a close eye on Jessie. Every moment he spends with her, Phoenix knows she is the one who has captured his heart and soul, but Jessie is confused about her feelings for not only Jackson and Phoenix but, the other brothers. When Jessie's life is put in danger, the brothers rally to protect her.
In this continuation she finally meets Austin which is a eye opening and quite intense. I am really enjoying the series thus far and now need to get the next one.
Jackson is out of town on business for the family, so Phoenix takes over, trying his best to woo Jessie for himself and his brothers... while keeping her out of trouble.
Jessie misses Jackson, but also finds herself falling for Phoenix.
Jessie finally meets big brother, Austin, with a less than auspicious result.
Someone is still causing 'accidents', and Jessie is the target of one of them. The four younger brothers begin to wonder about Austin...
Jessie is still in Wilde investigating the mine accidents and enjoying everything the Wilde brothers throw at her. Jackson fell for Jessie in the 1st book of the series and now it is Phoenix's turn to fall down the rabbit hole. Will Jackson and Phoenix be able to show their brothers that Jessie is meant to be their bride? Another great part to The Wilde Brothers series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!
Three words.....OH. MY. GOD. I don't know how I missed that there were 5 men to one woman in this story. I couldn't even get 1/4 of the way into it. NASTY.
It was really good, we get to know more about Phoenix. Finally she met Austin, and the meeting was really intense. I'm wondering how is the mystery person that is causing the accident ...
Loved this book. Held my interest throughout the whole thing. The sweet yet commanding disposition of Phoenix was great. Can't wait to finish all of them!
Although I don't usually enjoy reading serials I enjoyed reading this one. If you enjoy reading menage erotic romance with a touch of murder and suspense then you will love this one.
