The doctors say she’ll be gone by fall, but they have one last summer to celebrate their love. To cry together, laugh together...remember together. When a troubled teenage girl and an injured horse turn to them for help, Mary and Sam Holt find room in their large and breaking hearts to show the girl life’s glories and restore a champion’s will. A magnificent story about life, love horses.
This is a truely heartwarming story of true love over 35 years, the love of a horse, and of saying goodbye. I can't remember the last time I cried so much while reading a book. Was very surprised that such a touching romance was written by a man.
A romance for adults, showing that true love isn't restricted to hot looking 20 and 20 year olds and sometimes happily ever after just isn't long enough. This is a book about love that lasts a lifetime.
There are parts that are sweet and sentimental. Honestly, I would have liked the whole book if it wasn't for the foul language interspersed throughout.
Really enjoyed this book. It was a simple story with great characters, totally realistic and relatable. In this case, the Amazon summary, ratings and reviews do the book justice...even if the cover doesn't. At its core, this is a story of love and relationships...of growing up and growing old. And it is a roller coaster of emotions! An obvious strength for the author, he deals with emotions in such a way that the reader cannot help but feel and experience them along with the characters. Personally I believe this is a talent that too few writers possess. I find the book's cover such a turn off that I would not have bothered with it had I been considering the physical book (instead of the Kindle edition) and if the ratings and reviews weren't so universally positive. I whole heartedly recommend this book to readers of all ages. I thought it was terrific!
A wonderful inspiring story, loved both the human and equine characters. Will definitely read this book again. I really hope that the author will write another book.

Really enjoyed this story. Even though it could have been very cheesy in a 'made for TV' way, it was well written and very engaging - somewhat predictable overall, but still very entertaining and a satisfying read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to get to know and like the characters of a story; I don't typically get emotional when reading, but I was completely involved in this story!
I highly recommend this book. This is an amazing work. Mr. Henry has found a touching, hearthbreaking, and loving storyline. I loved all the characters and the animals. In places it is terribly sad but it leaves your heart wanting to sing. I haven't gone into many details because I don't want to ruin anything for the next reader. Thank you Mr. Henry.[[ASIN:B004QS989G We'll Have The Summer]]
This a very nice light read, but be sure to have the tissue box handy near the end. Most of the characters are develop well and are likable. While it is heavy on horses and ranching, it doesn't overpower or wear you out. Would be interested in reading other works by Henry.
I have read a lot of books lately but none have touched my heart the way this one did. I felt such a closeness to the couple that it was scary. Thanks Dutch for an amazing book.
This was a heart warming read. The story line clearly told, a powerful story of love and strength. How to deeply love and let go with dignity. I recommend this book.
Good love, ranch, rodeo, horse, family, horse training, competition, and romantic story, not necessarily in that order. Something for everyone set in the West. Do try it, you'll almost certainly like it.
This was a decent read. I enjoyed most of the characters. Mary and Barbara were my favorites. I could have done without the "gal" and "by golly" comments. A bit over the top. I get it that it takes place on a ranch, etc, but the language got annoying.
Wonderful story! You will experience many emotions running from happy to sad while reading this book. One of the best I have read in a long time and I highly recommend it.
$0.0 I don't think I would have normally gotten this book, but since it had 44 5 star ratings on Amazon I figured I would give it a try especially since the price was right
This story had such good bones but the writing was not strong enough to support them. I wanted so much more from this book. The dialogue was cliche and certain points almost laughable.
