Blood Hunter #1

The Beginning

Rate this book
(Book #1 in the Blood Hunter Series)For thirty years, Raven Prince has lived just fine with no mate and no hassles. The carefree vampire, happy to be the odd-girl-out in a small, close-knit coven, lusts for one thing and one thing only--human blood. The more handsome the snack, the happier she is.

Thorne Abbott, on the other hand, only has a taste for the blood of the vampire that savagely murdered his father eleven years before. The determined human won't rest until that craving is satisfied, even if it means getting himself killed in the process.

A sexy game of pool in a small-town bar throws a wrench in both of their plans and ignites a flame so hot, neither could have extinguished even if they wanted to.

The hunter and the hunted battle with themselves and each other as passion, love and a quest for truth sends them on a deadly mission that's sure to either destroy them...or set them free.
***WARNING*** This paranormal romance contains sexy vampires, mild violence, adult language and sudden bursts of sensuality. Proceed with caution!

Raven Prince is a carefree, compassionate and beautiful vampire living with her small, close-knit coven. She has no desire to find a mate as her fellow vampires have and goes about her business seemingly without a care.

Thorne Abbott is out for revenge, he has been searching for the Vampire who murdered his father when he was a teen, his quest for retribution and peace is all he has wanted until he comes across Raven in a bar; everything he has known about vampires is about to change.

The ways vampires are portrayed in The Beginning are certainly not the typical cliché; they blend in with humanity and seem to have a tender, more caring side. It was nice reading about them in a lighter more down-to-earth sense; the humans seemed to be the more brutal of them.

Raven and Thorne couldn’t have been more different! He was the hunter, she the hunted but they formed a trust and a bond that aided them in working together to find out who was responsible for the death of his father, he had believed what he had been told from a close relative while Raven believed the scenario he had painted couldn’t be at all true.

I enjoyed watching them seek the truth and eventual resolution.

I liked the main protagonists, Thorne wasn’t the Alpha I tend to love but he was strong and determined, I loved Raven for her loyalty, trust and witty banter. They were a great couple and complimented one another well.

The secondary characters were well placed and though out, I look forward to learning more about them in future books, especially poor Jacobe who was sweet and endearing; I’d love to read more of his back-story.

This book was enjoyable, the story had a nice pace, some interesting twists and turns and I enjoyed Robin’s writing style, the dialogue was fun and witty.

I look forward to reading the next installment in this series, The Betrayal.

Hunting is not a sport. In a sport, both sides should know they're in the game. - Paul Rodriguez

Thorne Abbott is on a hunt. for eleven years, he has been searching for the vampire responsible for his father's brutal murder. a chance encounter with Raven Prince in a small-town bar brings him closer to his quest and to a revelation he was not prepared for.
writing about vampires is definitely a challenge for any writer in an already saturated market. when i picked this book for review, i was expecting something fresh and exciting and i was not altogether disappointed.
author Robin Badillo's first book in The Blood Hunter series kept me glued for hours. i was so caught up in the story that i hated to take leave of Thorne, his cousins Brett and Hayden, his Uncle Pierce and especially Raven and her coven.
i found some original ideas here that made me smile and nod my head a few times. there were a couple of instances which i thought were predictable but i was in for a handful of major surprises as the story raced to its conclusion. i definitely did not see those twists coming and they packed a whole lot of punch!
there are steamy scenes and graphic language here. i would not label it as erotica though. paranormal romance, perhaps, would be close enough.
i really enjoyed this first book and i am so glad i have the second one already just waiting to be read or i would have felt restless especially after knowing that...
if you want to know how things went with Thorne, Raven and the rest of the characters, you have to grab this book!

This read is a very high 3 1/2 stars but I'm leaning to a 4. This read help me to get my feet wet with the author and her work.
Raven lives with a coven/family of 5 including herself. They are harmless vampire that are not the murderous kind. Raven is still hung up on her ex for the past 30 yrs and is not really into dating anyone until she meets Thorne. Thorne is a vampire hunter who wants revenge for the past 11 yrs for his father's death. He isn't really interested in hunting all vampires, just a particular vampire.

The hunter and the vampire needs to co exist while having a strong attraction with each other to find the vampire who killed Thorne's dad. Even though these two are working together, in the beginning Thorne captured Raven as bait when he discovered she was a vampire. But later had to escape with her so his family did not kill her.

Nice read for me surely will try more books from the author and hope to read more from the series.

There are several things I loved about this book , The characters for one, I really loved the interaction with Raven and Jacobe(though I am secretly hoping he gets his own book, he deserves some happiness.) Thorne, though I did like him, parts of me wished he was just a bit tougher. I guess I am just used to big badasses. Another character I would like to see more of is Brett, I really connected with him maybe more than Thorne to be honest.

The storyline flowed well, and even though I kind of guessed the 'who done it' moment it still was a shock at the very end. I am definitely interested in where the story will continue on into the sequel.

I read this in one setting and I would definitely recommend to all you vamp lovers out there. I can't wait to read the sequel, The Betrayal.
