Want Some Aggro?: The True Story of West Ham's First Guv'nors

Rate this book
In the 1960s and 1970s, the Mile End Mob ruled Upton Park. Long before the days of the ICF, they were the guv'nors of the terraces, striking fear into the other West Ham mobs and fans. Indeed it was the reputation of the Mile End mob that drove the ICF to establish their rule over the terraces in the 1980s.

Two renowned West Ham hooligans recount the skinhead bovver boy, pre-ICF, years at West Ham from 1967 to 1975. Detailed match by match, season by season, a recounting of the early hooligan years in English football; although interesting, lacks any real emotional, psychological or inward looking perspective, but is very honest and straight talking. Worth a read, alone, for context in the 2010's where people lament the behaviour of young people? 5 out of 12.

Sooner or later, this type of book gets awfully repetitive.

At least this one has a lot more brutal honesty about losses, cops' intelligence, and the boredom/pointless factor.
