This anthology has 16 stories. I absolutely enjoyed reading some stories. Some stories were also very informative. I loved the environment this book creats and it felt like I was experiencing Shimla's beautiful places and weather. The last story ' My Parents' Love Story' made me cry and was so touching. Each and every story have its feel and depicts pure and innocent form of love.
The book tries to capture the essence of love around the picturesque hill station of Shimla. Containing 16 short stories/ historical accounts, this book has maintained reasonable variety amid its brief 142 pages. There are accounts of historical figures (Maharani Brinda of Jubbal, Nehru & Edwina), artists (Amrita Shergill & Malcolm Muggeridge), cinema stars (Sadhana, RK Nayyar & Joy Mukherjee), stories from folklore as well as modern love stories from the current century. The author has tried to keep love around Simla as the leitmotif of this book. The book is a breezy read and gives a good picture of the place that is Simla and how it adds to the setting for the universal emotion that is love.
Love stories of shimla hills by Minakshi Chaudhry. My third book of 2020📚📖🔖😊 This book is a collection of 16 love stories and these love stories are based on various types of people ranging from kings, queens, britishers, ministers to common people. All the stories are from the bygone eras. Each and every story depicts the truest form of love. The stories remind us of the meaning of real and true love.
But this book was not upto my expectations and that's why I didn't like this book that much. I have read other books penned by the same author and they were really good but this book,Love Stories of Shimla Hills is an okay read. I will recommend this book for people who like history.
