Faith Delange ran from her abusive ex-husband. Terrified that he might find her, she sought refuge in a rural Oregon community where she met Luke Campbell, who became her protector.
This book is your typical Christian romance! A good read if you like the genre, but I didn't find it particularly exciting.
Fred's latest finds Luke back from the military working his parents ranch, taking care of his mom as she recovers from a heart attack. While in town at the local diner he meets a beautiful woman just off the bus. She seems lost and lonely but something about her touched his heart. Finding out she needed a job he hired her to care for his mother while he ran the ranch. Inviting her into his home brings terror and suspense to the family. A short read that is a welcome holiday read.
I'm not sure why it took so long to finish this book because I really liked it! Part of the reason may have been that I knew something terrible was going to happen & I didn't want it to.
Faith is fleeing from her previous life, especially from her abusive ex-husband. She finally lands in a small town in Oregon and the timing is perfect because Luke Campbell is looking for a companion for his mother.
A bit different from her last book but still as action packed. Faith, a wealthy socialite from NewYork was on the run from her abusive ex-husband when she ran into a rancher named Luke who was on leave from the army. His mother had had a heart attack and he hired Faith to care for her. Faith agreed, thinking it would be a good hiding place. Many twists and turns follow that prove to be faith strengthening. Great book! You’re going to love it!
A good story. A couple of not quite believable parts. I did not deduct for the absence of dividers between change of scene. These are really needed as some scenes had the same characters but were completely separated from the previous scenes.
Terri Reed did a great job on this Christmas book! Faith meets Luke at a restaurant outside town as she got off a bus. She ends up wanting to go to his home to take care of his mother. Very good! Jeanette Stracner
Gripping story of Faith, who is running from an abuse ex-husband and ends up in a small Oregon town, working to care for the mother of Luke, a military guy home on emergency leave, helping on the family ranch, due to his dad’s death and mom’s heart attack.
Well this book had a lot of potential and for the most part...it was mostly okay. Well I enjoyed the premise of the book there were some things I unfortunately can't help but complain about. While I mostly enjoy reading the lovely fluff that is Love Inspired Suspense romance despite the religious aspect....this one kind of took it to the next level. By page 63 I had actually already lost count of times the characters prayed to, thought about, spoke about, what about god. The book was flooded with it. Which I don't mind so much because some of it was actually well placed and well written. However by page 150-ish I was a little miffed about the fear-awe talk that took place....just no. Leave the religious educational bit/ age old argument out of your book please.
On the upside by page 63 we had two bad guys (in my opinion)!!! that was nice. Oh and Faith (main gal) had already fainted and woken up wanting to kiss a guy (main man Luke) when they had only met 2 days before.
Next problem, what is with these people always only knowing each other for a few weeks and then going "I love you sooooo much! Marry me!!!" "Why, yes. Yes. YES I'll marry you (think Men in Tights for the line)." It bothers me...a lot.
In Conclusion
Nice fluff read that is heavily garnished with religious teachings/beliefs/arguments. Ignoring that and the rushed proposal, not a bad read. Good for when you have nothing pressing to do but don't really want to have to think too much.
Faith, abused ex-wife and raised in wealth, is running from her ex and his family. Landing in a small town she takes a job on an isolated ranch looking after a woman recovering from a heart attack. Luke, her employer, is also trying to work out his future. On leave from the military, he finds that, after all, he enjoys running the ranch he tried to get away from.
This fiction book is good to read close to Christmas because of the setting. The main characters, Faith and Luke, deal with circumstances that are quite common today.
Love the story plot of domestic abuse portrayed here, how Faith was so desperate to disappear and a chance encounter with Luke and his mother, Dottie changed everything.
