Very good friends...

Getting a fledgling wedding video business off the ground just when people were buying their own camcorders was not easy, so Anne Grey was pleased to stand in for a friend recording an interview in Cornwall with crime writer Francis Gardiner. It was a shock to discover the writer was really Mark Rayne, the man she had only recently crossed swords with at a wedding!

As they continued to work together, Anne knew that she was falling in love, and meeting Mark's young son, Matthew, was a delight. But Mark thought she was engaged to someone else, and Anne found it almost impossible to tell him the truth...

The H didn't seem worth all the effort, honestly. Also, he had a bad breakup with the OW the night before he met the h, but says it wasn't a rebound -- it was a "last straw" kind of thing. A rebound would explain why he came across as inauthentic throughout.

This book was good in parts. I found heroine Anne a hardworking girl trying to make a career out of photography. She has recently lost her father who was ailing and her boyfriend ditches her as she doesn’t leave her father and come to him.

She meets hero Mark at a wedding which she is covering. He is a super handsome rich guy and is a famous crime author. When Anne looses one of her cassette recordings Mark find it and comes to give it to her at midnight after a party. Anne who is slightly attracted to him allows him to spend the night in her house as he is a bit drunk. Next day Mark is surprised by her kindness and thanks her for the hospitality and leaves.

Anne gets another assignment to cover an interview with her friends in a Cornish coast . When she reaches the location she comes to know they are interviewing famous author Mark. He is a bit moody and tempered but Anne handles him well as she is his acquaintance and when his computer breaks down Anne who is good in computers resolves it and Mark is impressed. After a successful interview Mark requests her to stay back and help him with computer as he has to finish his book in a week.

Anne who is already liking him can’t refuse his request and accepts it. They spend a week together working and Anne falls in love with Mark.
Mark is supposed to be engaged to Trudy a top model.when Mark leaves for London to submit his writing Anne still in Cornish island meets Mark’s sister and his Son Matthew .Anne stays with Matthew till Mark returns from London. Matthew takes to Anne soon and when Mark sees them together he decides Anne is best for them and proposes a marriage of convenience.
He takes Anne and Matthew to their London home and spend good time together but Anne wishes to return home and think as she doesn’t want marriage of convenience.

Finally Mark comes to meet her a few days later and confesses his true love to her and they unite.

I found the writing to be good but I couldn’t understand how and why Mark fell for Anne. She was just a simple helpful girl and there was nothing extraordinary in her for him to fall for when he was rich, handsome and famous.

Great story. Actually I have read this book about 10 or 11 years ago. However, as I just uploaded this book to goodreads, it was a good idea to re read this book.

The story was fascinating. Anne has ended her engagement with Keith, however, she could not put the ring off her finger. That was why Mark, who saw the ring thought Anne was still engaged and could not express his feeling for Anne.
