This is a collection of articles from what I think was the best potager garden magazine ever. Taunton's "Kitchen Gardener Magazine"(I bought every back issue it was so good). It just had the bad run of luck to not survive the period of time such gardens were not the rage. The great articles on growing, using and cooking out of the garden are contained within the pages of this very nice, although paperback, book. Well worth ordering , as due to the content, this information is not dated and well worth following today.
Easy to follow chapters with pictures, diagrams, and essential must dos to tips. The guide covers how to start or build items, sowing, growing and harvesting, traditional to good varieties, as well as weeds and pests & solutions for each vegetable and herb. An excellent personal library reference for any stage gardener.
I'm a passionate Gardner and read as many book on gardening as I can. Each author has their own style and Ruth Lively taught me so much about vegetable gardening. I have had vegetable gardens in the past. Through illustrations on building structures for the garden and close up pictures of insects and plants I learned so much from her writing. I will refer to this book through the season. I am looking forward to a great harvest.
