First Kisses #4

It Had to Be You

Rate this book
As the new, secret ( shhh!!! ) Dear Daisy, I must be an expert on romance, right? Wrong. Here I am living next door to Kyle, who is friendly, polite, and devastatingly cute in his board shorts—yet I act like a drama queen every time we talk. That's not me, really! How can I (as Daisy) give love advice to someone called "Romeo14" if I can't even get Kyle to ask me out? But I've got to keep trying. Because what if he's the one ?

The story was okay, but one thing distracted me from enjoying the whole thing. Maybe its just me but I've been thinking the whole while I was reading it was that they were too young. But this book has this sweet and tender moments (couldn't help but think 'ahhh, young love...') and it made reading a bit enjoyable.

I couldn't help but laugh though. We girls do tend to think about things a little too much (and assuming), and mess up most of the time because of that. LOL. Basically this novel is just a bad case of misunderstanding. Very cliche. Glad it worked out in the end though.

First impressions aren't always the best, especially for Emma Miller when she first meets her new neighbor Kyle. Let's just says it wasn't one of Emma's greatest moments.

But it wasn't entirely her fault. If only her brothers would've just opened the door for the person who kept on ringing that doorbell, Emma wouldn't have had to run downstairs, screaming her head off, forgetting that she still had her face mask on and was wearing a towel turban, and looking completely insane in front of Kyle.

Unfortunately for Emma, it's not only the first impression that she's not really good at but also the second and third and everything after that. Since every time Emma's around Kyle something entirely crazy has to happen making it look like she isn't the best person to be around. It's bad enough that Emma has her three older brothers ganging up on her; Emma just doesn't need anymore problems, especially boy problems. Well, it's not like she likes Kyle, right?

At least Emma has something to keep her mind off of that totally hot next-door neighbor. Entering the ninth grade, Emma had been secretly chosen to become the next Daisy for the "Dear Daisy" advice column in her school's newspaper. Emma gets her own secretive e-mail address for the column, which is where she finds e-mails from a Romeo14, who is having a little girl trouble. Emma is so used to giving straight-to-the-point advice that any question this Romeo14 asks, Emma has a solution for him. But this great advice that Emma always seems to have could possibly fail and ruin her life forever.

Emma Miller has to be one of the cutest and craziest characters ever. Throughout the entire novel, you just can't help but feel what Emma is feeling. And with the addition of Emma's three brothers and Kyle's brother, the story just gets even better. IT HAD TO BE YOU is the perfect read for any hopeless romantics out there.

I just can't give it a three. I don't round off but I did in this one. I would have not but everytime I consider it, I can't help but think how this book cracked me up. This book made me laugh and so entertained. Emma's brothers are the best ever. They may bully her but I know that they love her. And they are soooo hilarious. They never failed to crack me up. Even that little boy Tommy. He's so loud and irritating but his innocence and childishness washed those away. He's funny in a way.

Now, I just think that that "Daisy" thing is kind of lacking. I was looking for more excitement or more letter senders. But "romeo" was the only one. And Emma! She was kind of dense with that Mystery Girl thingy huh. I knew from the very start who Romeo was.

Anyway, it's a happy ending. So it left me happy and smiling :)

I really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down untill I finished it. It was a good reminder that if you are going to give other people your advise, you may want to take some of it yourself. I think it is good advice to tell someone when you like them because then you can find out at the begining if it will work out well with you both or if you sould just be content with being friends. I can relate to ending up as just friends and it does not bother me as much as I though it would. I can also relate to giving love advice to my friends and this book also reminded me to take my own advice also. I really liked this book and I look forward to reading the rest of the First Kisses books. :)

Happy Reading!!!

This book made me laugh....I enjoyed reading this book..It's really funny from the start and make you fall in love in the end. I really love when Emma and Kyle always met. It's always embarrassing (physically)for Emma but for Kyle that is their great moments. I really like the youngest brother of Kyle which is Tommy,,,..haha...he is such a cute and annoying kid but in good way,.. He is always screaming at Emma. I also love the concept that Emma is the Dear Daisy who always gives advice to those people who needs 'Love Advice' but she didn't know that the one who wants her advice is the guy next door who she really likes.

It could have been so much better if there wasn't so much name and brand-dropping, both of those caricatural of teen. Only Justin Bieber poster was missing. The heroine also overplayed the girly-girl part, which did not ring true at all.
Otherwise I liked the story and especially the part about the trouble that your siblings, especially brothers, can bring to one.
However this was my first book of this genre, so I do not have lots for comparison.

This book is stupid. I could predict what was going to happen just by reading the summary. It was completely unoriginal and unrealistic. The characters were not well developed at all. The only reason I would recommend this book to anyone is so that you could make fun of it.

This was my very first First Kisses novel, turned out to be an absolute disaster to tell you the truth. All this girl obsessed about was what clothes she would wear and what others are wearing and when she'll be getting her first kiss and first love, uh..isnt she supposed to be 14!!??

Cute story of a girl who writes a anonymous "Dear Daisy" column. It turns out that her cute next door neighbor might have a crush on her or is it?
