Susan Weber is a successful advertising executive living the high life in San Francisco. One night she clogs her kitchen drain by stuffing a whole chicken carcass down the garbage disposal. Enter Joe the plumber. He's friendly, polite, drop dead gorgeous... and happens to be a vampire. Drained is a light hearted, romantic farce in which a couple tries to coup with being half undead.
Born in Los Angeles in the middle of the last century, Brian Jackson has always dreamed of being a writer. After decades spent working in the computer industry, Brian retired early to pursue that dream.
Available in eBook is Brian's backlist of previously published and unpublished material. Brian's books are clever, exciting, and often written with a sense of humor.
Brian lives in the California foothills with his wife, published author Melanie Jackson, Alpine, the dog, and Snowy, the cat.
This was a fast, fun read. Like another book by the author that I enjoyed, First Son, this book was not a detailed, fact filled study of the world in which the story took place (advertising in this case), but rather a light romp with two likable characters and vampires to boot.
I found myself cheering for the love interests to get together and loved the ending. I also laughed at the Mr. Hardon and coffin advertising scenes.
Looking for fun, you've got it. Looking for an education, try Stephen Hawkings.
As another reviewer point out, this appears to be "self published". So, you have the choice: support the writer in his solo efforts or take the low road. I for one choose to support him.
I saw this book was billed as funny and light hearted. I like a good laugh, and don't mind 'light' books, but this was sophomoric at best. I'm generously giving it two stars just for the laughs--unfortunately, I think some of them were not intentional.
Too many editorial problems--bodies 'interned', 'loosing' one's temper, 'pooring' a drink. Ridiculous set up--the main character wouldn't last a week in the ad world, much less ever be successful.
This must have been a vanity print, because I can't believe any publisher would put this out. I've been very happy with many of the free and very low cost Kindle books, but I guess sometimes you do just get what you pay for.
