Dear John: Excerpts from the Diary of a SADventist Girl

Rate this book
The Christian life is beautiful, but it is not always a road without sacrifice. As a missionary, you are surrendered to going wherever God leads and doing whatever He regales. However, sometimes He gives you a challenge that is difficult to swallow; it makes you want to run and hide like Elijah the prophet under a gourd tree. You see I had never been in love, but in 2005 God took me on a journey that would forever change my life. This book is the first in a trilogy showcasing my journey from fear to curiosity and from curiosity to friendship. The friendship blossomed into something simply something that I never felt I could have ever experienced because of past emotional scars. Love…a love which I fought for years, and when I finally surrendered my fears, the outcome was simply unexpected, devastating, and painful but then truly amazing. My heart especially sympathizes and empathizes with all single Christian men and women who find it difficult to trust and venture into new relationships because they are in a holding pattern. You may want to relinquish the relationship, but you are not sure if it is God’s will. Perhaps you have decided to walk away without hearing God’s answer, but realize that you truly loved the person who rejected you. You want to make amends but face surmounting difficulties. You are in a quagmire. You seek counsel but you don’t feel like anyone truly understands. Wait on God, He has an amazing relationship waiting on you, just like the one which He presented to me. Hold on to God’s plan for you. He will withhold nothing good from you in your faithful service as His child. Live a life of love without fear. God is still in control of your life no matter the challenges you face in your most intimate relationships. Trust your heart with Him. It will still be safe even if your relationships fail.
