Tammy just completed and published her first novel, Grey Sky. Although she has always been an avid reader, Tammy never gave a lot of serious thought to writing--until recently. Tammy grew up in Provo, Utah, the oldest of six kids. She left Provo in 1996 and moved to the Pacific Northwest where she now lives in Edmonds, WA, a suburb of Seattle.
Tammy now owns a user experience research & design company and worked at Microsoft for 11 years and before that she worked at Novell and WordPerfect. It is safe to say that she has a bit of an inner geek in her. Writing has become a wonderful outlet for a sometimes active imagination!
Tammy lives with and loves her wonderful family: Dayna, son Tre', and kitties, Theo & Jaz.
Some books, while an excellent read, definitely read as fiction - this one is written so well, I felt like this was true and was on the edge of my seat the entire way through - couldn't sleep til I finished - LOL Pick it up!
I had some trouble with this book. Overall, I was curious about where it was going, but it took so long to get anywhere and it was a relatively short book. Most of the novel focused on the tension between the main character's undercover persona and a woman she found going undercover. I found the characters to be one-dimensional, along with the dialogue, and the alternating point of view was not done very well. It was tough to figure out whose perspective each chapter was by until a couple paragraphs into the chapter. I think the story had a lot of potential, but I felt the focus was put a lot more on the relationship and the dialogue and actions were redundant with in that relationship and not enough to keep the reader curious about where the story was going with the loss of her mother.
This is a free book from the Goodreads First Reads giveaways. Sky Griffin's mother suddenly disappears during her visit in the Seattle, WA area. Sky uses her Private Investigator background and goes undercover in the Salt Lake City area to solve the mystery. Although the book started out strong; the story seemed to drag on with lots of useless leads (art fraud, child porn) and same sex relationship issues. I did not like how the narrator of the book switched between Sky and her husband, Sam, without any kind of differentiation (maybe needed a different font). Also the conclusion seemed anticlimatic.
I won this book in a giveaway on goodreads and i'm really happy that i had the chance to read it. For a first book the author have a really fluid and polished style. The characters are well described and i could easily slip in Sky or even Sam character. I found myself having a hard to put it down in some moment and the storyline was full of surprises. A book i definitely recommand and i look forward to read more works from this author in the near future, i hope!
I won this book through First Reads!! First of all, this is a page turner and a very fast read!! From the very beginning you feel connected with the characters. As Sky searches for her missing mother, you go through a range of emotions with her!! To add to the plot, the author throws in art fraud and child porn. What a great summer read!!!!
This book has it all for me; the feel of an autobiography, crime, mystery and suspense, and the love of a family that transcends everything. It's the whole package. It's written very well and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for the next book. Well done Tammy.
I really did not enjoy this book at all. The storyline had good potential, but the book is not very well written. There is a lot of repetition, inconsistencies in style, and lack of flow. I was confused as to the focus of this book. Mystery or romance? The two did not mix well.
I have really enjoyed this debut novel from Tammy Snow. The characters were likeable and the mystery did keep me guessing. Def. an author I would read more from.
Uninspired. Scattered. I couldn't quite shake the impression I had read this before but can't pinpoint which book it resembles. Hopefully if we see another book the writing style improves greatly.
