A jilted bride, a wolfishly sexy stranger, one sinful attraction under New Zealand's sun. When Katherine finds out her fiancé cheated on her, her heart is bruised. With a mission to get her life back on track, she takes the first flight to Auckland, New Zealand. And bumps heads with a sexy stranger. Their attraction is instant, powerful and undeniable. Taking a vacation from being a good girl, she succumbs to this sinful stranger who pushes the limits of her sexual needs as he explores every inch of her body. No strings of course. Trent seduces her...in a bed, at the beach, in a truck, against the wall...until the wolf within him lifts its head and pays attention. Suddenly, after a tiny bite, it's everything but no-strings.
Something about me? Well, I like dark chocolate, autumn rain, and curling up on the couch reading a great story--while it rains outside, naturally. I also like to write. Stop by my website or send an email if inquiring mind needs to know more.
First, let me say that I am not a huge fan of erotica. Smutty romance, yes. But erotica always seems a bit too nasty for my dirty mind, and that's saying a lot.
I didn't like this book. Katherine is supposed to be a "yankee", but she uses phrases like "I fear that I can't..." or "I don't fancy that...". It's hard to believe that the character is a New Yorker when she speaks like a Brit. Trent is an asshole. There is nothing remotely likable about his character. He's mean, manipulative, cold, and the list goes on. The author had opportunity to show a softer side with his aunt, his best friend, even the kids he coached. But she made him an ass each time. Was I supposed to like him because he was a werewolf? If so, the author failed, because the wolf aspect was glazed over. No background, no history, no mythology. Just wolf, take it or leave it. I skipped over the smutty scenes after the first two. Words like "convulsing" and "bulbous" are NOT sexy, and the words she chose to describe the anatomy were straight out of a Hustler magazine. It was gross to read, and that's not even accounting for the violence in each sex act. If you're into angry, painful sex between a heartless jackass and a boring bitch, this might be the book for you.
I always try new authors when they offer werewolves to read. Those alpha beasts just rev my motor.
But one thing that hangs me up when reading a shifter story is when there’s not a whole lot of shifting going on. If that happens, then everything else, characters, storyline, etc, has to be extraordinary. While I did like this book to a certain extent, there’s just not enough wolf for me, which is the main reason I requested to read and review it.
First, the characters. Katherine is on her honeymoon in New Zealand alone after discovering her fiance’s infidelity. While in this beautiful country where she’s originally from, she’s going to sell her grandmother’s house, the home where she grew up, and also take some time to regroup. But meeting a stranger at the airport and sharing the close confines of a taxi with him puts her on a different path than anticipated. Starting with a one-night stand with the handsome man. “Welcome sex,” he calls it. Welcome, indeed.
I like Trent for the most part. He knows he can’t really have anything with Katherine because of his “nature.” His life is planned out, even so far as who he’ll marry. But he can’t stay away from Katherine. When he’s with her, the scenes are intense and raw at times, including the love scenes, but when he realizes nothing long-lasting can be had, he becomes rude and walks out. I know it’s because he’s trying to save hurt for all involved, but sometimes his actions even go beyond alphaness. That’s a very fine line and Trent does cross it a time or two, which makes him a bit less appealing, despite his wolfishness. But he’s still sexy and knows how to please a woman, so those issues do balance out for me, especially with what transpires near the end of the book.
Katherine doesn’t get a pass on attitude either. She takes the “it’s my house and I’ll do what I want” bit to the edge. As she does with the vacillation concerning her fiance. She hasn’t talked to him since she left him, thinks she should, even goes so far to think she should maybe stay with him. Sorry, that sucker doesn’t deserve a second thought from her, so that wishy-washy-ness did irritate me.
What makes up for those little tidbits, however, is the twist at the end. And Trent’s about-face. But it’s the lack of shifting that I really couldn’t get past. If you’re going to give me a wolf, give me a wolf. I like the thoughts and mannerisms and whatnot that show up in human form, but just give me the darned wolf to go along with the rest. Ms. Redwood does have a couple of other shifter books on her backlist and I’d like to give them a try. I’m ever hopeful.
Katherine has aspirations of being more than just an employee in her finance's law firm. When she finds out he cheated on her she heads to New Zealand to take care of some family business. She plans to sell her childhood home and open her own law firm.
At the airport, she ends up sharing a cab with a stranger who later convinces her to leave her good girl image behind. After she has a one night stand with Trent, she feels relieved but also guilty. She let herself enjoy the experience because she was never going to see Trent again, or so she thought. I love the reaction she has to Trent when she sees him walking out of his Aunt's house. She is genuinely shocked but secretly pleased.
I loved Trent's character. He is an alpha wolf in all ways but one, the heart. He is so afraid to love someone that is not a shifter that he almost lets Kat slip through his fingers. He is trying to protect not only himself but them too. He doesn't want to take the chance on losing the baby or the mother during labor if she is a human. He is super sexy and confident almost to the point of being cocky.
The interactions between the two are perfect. They butt heads because they are both stubborn and the sexual tension is there for everyone to see. The actual sex scenes are HOT!! The author does an excellent job of telling the story and describing the amazing scenery. The beach scenes were my favorites. I could see myself on that beach, lying in the sand and playing in the water.
Over all I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books on Amy Redwood's backlist. I give Sinful Intentions 3 1/2 flaming hearts.
Katherine leaves New York for New Zealand after discovering her fiancé had cheated on her at his bachelor party. When she arrives she meets a man that makes her forget all about her ex and focus on all the naughty things they can do together.
I enjoyed this book, more toward the end, but I am on the fence about this relationship. When Katherine meets Trent she is attracted to him and sleeps with him assuming that it will be a one night stand. She wants to get even with her ex since he slept with someone else but she isn’t really the one night stand kind of person. When Kat and Trent meet again later they always end up having sex. I didn’t like how Trent would be such a jerk. It often felt like he was taking advantage of her and he even says that he is at one point. Their relationship is almost strictly sexual until he marks her one time in the heat of the moment. Yes, he’s a shifter but that doesn’t have hardly anything to do with the story as a whole.
I would have liked to see more love and caring between Kat and Trent. There is a lot of emotion; desire, lust, anger, fear. But not much love. We don’t see a softer side of Trent till almost the end of the book when he comes clean to Kat and she basically forces him to confront their relationship. I think if we had seen more of his nice side I would feel more connected to him but since he was mostly a jerk, I didn’t feel all that invested in him until the end.
I did like the epilogue and the glimpse we get of their future. It was nice to see Trent showing that soft side but also having that little bit of his bad boy self in there that made me really wish we had seen more of that.
I saw some of these reviews and I was thinking that the book wasn't going to be that good but out of curiosity I read it anyway figuring if I didn't like it I could just return it. I liked it. It was different for a shifter story. While the relationship between Trent and Kat did progress fast I found that the way the author wrote it out was very well. Both characters had an ok amount of depth for such a short story. And the back and fourth between them wasn't as tiring like in other books. There was a lot of sex yet surprisingly despite the number of sex scenes I personally found it didn't overwhelm the book or make it seem like the character weren't gaining any genuine feelings for each other. I liked both character's though they annoyed me at times because if they were just honest with their feeling a lot of crap could have been avoided (I hate characters like that). However in Kat's defense she did try to talk to Trent about her feelings but he kept shutting her down. I had some problems with Trent because he seemed so dead set on having a werewolf female for a mate when it was he had feelings for Kat. However his reasons for wanting a werewolf mate instead of a human is explained so I can forgive him. However I felt like some things in the book were unnecessary like Kat's allergy's to cats. the character Jack wasn't need really at all. I thought the way she reacted to finding out Trent was a werewolf was completely unrealistic. And it ended horrible abrupt even with the epilogue it was like everything was going well until the last two chapters. Either way I like it and it was an ok read if your in that kinda of a mood.
I have mixed feelings about this book. Given the cover and title, I knew what I was signing up for in the erotic department, but I didn't expect this to be one emotional ride.
This is the first story I've read from Amy Redwood and I like her writing style. I just didn't connect with the characters.
Katherine, understandably, is in a mess and has a lot of emotional baggage and Trent was an ass most of the time. I don't know if it's just a formula and guys are not much into communication, but Trent just comforted her in the only way he knows how. The paranormal angle was just inserted to spice things up.
The two characters have a serious case of mis to no-communication and it was a lust-based relationship. Why does the guy always have to be stupid I wonder, and Katherine didn't improve much. I can't put my finger to what went wrong and although there's a happy ending I wasn't satisfied.
If you're looking for amazingly hot and creative sex, you won't be disappointed with this one. The thing I didn't like about it is it's mindless and sometimes Katherine feels forced (not talking about the one in the truck), it's the body betraying the mind thing and it creates a lot of tension.
I was annoyed when I was reading this and I didn't feel that the characters understood each other, until the last chapter. I would've appreciated it if they were able to sort their issues early on, and again, Trent being a wolf wasn't explored or explained in detail, just in passing.
Summary: Katherine sees the cheating ways of her fiance and decides to hop a plane to Auckland. When she arrives, she is tired, and wants to get to her hotel but runs into a handsome stranger while arguing over a cab. Trent likes to get a rise out of her, but there is sexual chemistry from the first words spoken between them. What Katherine doesn't know is Trent is a wolf and he is taking the summer off for a few last flings before he intends to find his perfect mate. They stop fighting the chemistry and keep acting on it, having the most amazing sex they both ever had . At first it was revenge sex for Katherine, but after the first time, it was because it felt so right. Trent cant understand why he is so attracted to her. Then one fateful day, after some really hot sex on the beach, he understands why.
My Thoughts: Amy Redwood is an author I hadn't read before. I have a feeling I am definitely going to be looking into more of her work. Katherine and Trent were so steamy at times between their urge to get rises out of each other, to the steaming up the sheets. Or in this case a truck, sand, bed, even a wall (oh my!) Both characters had a personality all of their own. There were times I didn't want to put the book down I wanted the next smart remark and definitely the next steamy sex scene. I will say this, if your not one for liking a lot of sex in your books, then this isn't for you. Amy Redwood has gained another fan of her work in me, and I enjoyed this book.
After finding photos of her fiancé with another woman, Katherine is determined to become an independent woman. She breaks her engagement, turns down a job offer from her stepfather, and travels to New Zealand alone. She hasn't counted on meeting Trent and falling head over heels in love with him as soon as she steps off the plane.
Trent, a werewolf, is terrified that, if he takes a human mate, he will lose her just like he lost his mother. He is afraid to the point of trying to drive Katherine away in order to protect his heart. Fortunately, fate had other plans for the lovers. An incredible set of coincidences kept bringing Trent and Katherine together, and their intense mutual and overwhelming attraction to each other leaves them little choice but to fall in love.
Trent and Katherine were both believable and, for the most part, likeable characters. I loved the beautifully detailed descriptions of the New Zealand landscape, especially the black sand beaches. This story is a must read for true romantics everywhere. It just goes to show that happily ever after can come to you in the most unexpected ways.
Amy Redwood's Book "Sinful Intentions" After a long flight, crying, and anger after finding out that her finance cheated on her. Kathrine lands in New Zealand and tries to hail a cab, but runs into some hunky guy named Trent who has no intention on giving up his cab ride for some Yankee. Little does Kathrine realize that this cab ride is about to change her life for the better. “Sinful Intentions” delivers exciting sex, hunky men, and egotistic lawyers with a twist of humor. This book was very enjoyable and worth the read, I definitely jump at the chance to read more of Amy's books again.
I wanted to like this book. While the sex was red hot, I spent most of the book not liking the main characters which ruined it for me. They both said and acted in ways that made me cringe. In some cases, Trent was downright cruel to Katherine and I don't think the ending made up for it. I was frustrated that it started out like a contemporary story, although there were very obscure references about paranormal elements, but the author didn't really go into that until the 2nd to the last chapter. It felt to me that she could have just left it out.
Short read, but packs a punch! Finding out your fiance cheated on you at his bachelor party with a stripper is not what you want to hear shortly before your wedding. But it does fuel the fire when you meet a hot stranger that makes you instantly wet. Revenge never tasted so sweet. What starts off as a little innocent fun quickly turns to something much more. Hot steamy sex with a shifter
This my first novel from Amy Redwood and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this story quite a bit. A whirlwind booty call that turns into a life changing experience. The sex was hot and Trent is a hard alpha to resist.
Katherine gets more than she bargins for when her attempt at revenge ends up being more than she can control and handle.
For a werewolf erotica type book, it was okay. I have to say I was a whole lot disappointed about the whole werewolf and humans having babies together can kill you thing. I hate reading such crappy things like that. It's like that author thought, "Omg, for more dramatic effect I'll add this!" Seriously drove me batty. The passion and sex overall in the book was pretty epic.
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of emotional conflict I found myself really rooting for them to figure things out and make it work. Trent made for a really sexy alpha hero. Definitely recommend picking this one up.
