I tend to choose a book based on its reviews.. I know it's wrong, I'm proved wrong every single time but I can be hard-headed sometimes..
So I saw the book on Amazon, it sounded interesting so I downloaded it, I read the reviews (which were great!)so I decided to read it..
I hate writing bad reviews, I feel so bad for the author (please don't hate me Mrs James!!)but I have to say that there was nothing I liked about the book. It appeared to me that the whole story was an endless repetition of phrases like "I want my memory back", "Yes, you'll get your memeory back in time", "Has it come back yet?", "No, but I hope it does, although I'm also scared of what I might remember."
I'm happy that other people enjoyed it so much, as it proves that my opinion is entirely subjective and has nothing to do with the quality of the book.

I had planned to give this 2 stars simply because the storyline had potential but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The author could've gone in many directions as the main character has amnesia. While you're supposed to feel sympathetic for Molly I found myself liking Trent more - Molly is not a strong character. Certain plots went unexplored or were too rushed. The author threw in some potentially interesting story lines but it seemed like she decided to rush the ending instead of exploring them. It would've made the book a lot more interesting. I literally laughed out loud at how ridiculous the ending was. Cheesy "romance" at best.

After a fall left Molly with no memories of her life she decided to go in search of answers about her past. Going from one town to another hoping someone will recognise her she finally happens along Trent, a local sheriff. He knows her and more than that he loves her and is willing to help her unravel the mysteries of her ‘leaving’ because he will do anything to have the love of his life back for good.

This is the second book I have read by Kristen James and I enjoyed it much more than the other one (A Cowboy for Christmas). The characters were believable and the situation Molly found herself in was interesting. The story was not totally unique but it did hold my attention to the end, I really wanted to know what had happened to make Molly and her family up and leave town so suddenly four years ago-It had to be a good reason to make her leave a man like Trent!

The whole point of a romance novel is for the reader (usually women) to fall for the lead guy and I did that. He had the perfect job, to serve and protect, and he was so patient and tender towards Molly that I couldn’t help but swoon. I enjoyed Kristen’s writing style it was easy to lose myself in the story and I quickly read it in one sitting. There were a few editing issues but for some reason they didn’t bother me, I picked the book up at the right time, in the right frame of mind and I’m glad I did.

I received a copy if the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I initially started to give a very harsh review, but wanted to be certain. So, after a second listen, here goes.

Storyline: Very good premise, but this just ends. The whole "mystery" just gets put out and like magic everything is square. It almost felt like the author just wanted to get it over. The author tried to explain why a man born and raised in Oregon has a southern drawl ("where did the drawl come from? "), but it didn't fly to a person born and raised in Oregon. I grew up around plenty of good ol' boys in Oregon, but none sounded like they were from the south, even the ones with a southern parent.

Narration: I really enjoyed this narrator's voice tones, and her ability to differentiate characters without making anyone sound nasally or constipated. Having said that, she needs to take a trip to Oregon and figure out how people locally pronounce it. When I was a kid there were T-shirts sold that said "OR-Y-GUN" to give people just that hint. No one from the PNW would pronounce it any other way. Parts of the story flowed well, others became stiff, almost halting. Since I did not read the book, I have no idea if the author indicates that but as a listener it was irritating. Having said that, I would listen to this narrator again.

Although amnesia stories are popular in the romance genre, this one was a little different because there is a mystery surrounding the cause of the amnesia. I liked both of the characters very much—Trent was wonderful in helping Molly regain her memories without pressing her. There were some errors and repetition, and I found it implausible that the police were at the house within hours of the disappearance of Molly and her family when there didn't seem to be anything to alert them they were missing. However, in spite of those issues, I enjoyed the story very much.

Such a wonderful story

This story kept me wondering through to the end. It was such a good storyline and all without the sex scenes. I look forward to reading the sequel. Speaking of sequel, the book can be a stand alone story.

This was a good, clean romance and a nice read. When Molly returns to her hometown she has no memory of having lived there, no memories of the man she left behind, or the town's people who all seem to know her well. An accident of some sort left her with amnesia and with her parents both dead, there's no one to answer her questions.

Trent, a policeman, is stunned when Molly shows up out of the blue. He can't forget the day she and her parents had disappeared without a trace. He and Molly had grown up together, were crazy about one another, she was wearing his ring. They had plans for a future together. Where has she been for the last four years and why did she run off and leave him without a word?

These are questions Molly has as well. Nothing looks familiar to her although she has to admit Trent sparks feelings in her she hasn't had for a long time. She senses there as things he's not telling her about their past relationship but he's agreed to help her look into her parents deaths as well as the day they all disappeared.

Trent doesn't want Molly to know that some people blamed him, thought he was somehow involved in her family's disappearance and now that Molly's back, they're beginning to talk again. How long until Molly hears of their suspicions? What does he tell her when she does find out? While he finds this troubling, that's not what he's worried about. He's got an even bigger secret to tell and this one will either send Molly straight into his arms or possibly tear them apart forever.

I enjoyed the element of suspense in this one. The author did a good job of mixing things up and keeping you guessing as to what actually happened to Molly. She also does a good job keeping the characters off balance as they try to feel their way around one another and solve the mystery of Molly's disappearance. Trent never stopped loving her but he's walking a fine line, wanting to reveal the truth to her but afraid he'll scare her away. Molly is attracted to Trent, confused by her feelings when she can't remember anything. She senses his importance in her life but all she has to go on are what Trent has told her and the bits and pieces she's picked up from others.

There's also the fact her parents lied to her, a fact that's come to light as she and Trent set out on their investigation. They were keeping secrets too and its up to Molly to figure out why.

While I would have liked a little more romance I understand that the author was constrained by certain events in the book. Even so, it made for a good read. It was the first one of this author's I've read and I'm glad I did.

Can you imagine waking somewhere, not knowing who you are, let alone who the people around you are? Could you imagine loving one person your whole life, to have the happiest day of your life turn into the worst? Kristen James has created a book that has you, the reader, so wrapped up in the life of Molly and Trent, that you are shocked to look up from your book and realize you're at home and not in Ridge City, Oregon. You'll wonder right up until the end how it will turn out for Molly, will she remember her life before? Will the person who caused her memory loss return and hurt her again?

We're introduced to Molly, at the beginning of the story, a few years after her loss of memory. Her parents have recently died in a car accident and Molly is looking for answers. Molly strolls into the police station of Ridge City during one of her stops into different towns, in hopes of finding some answers. Instead she is stuck with more questions when her heart goes flip-flop over the handsome police officer Trent Williams. Even more odd is the fact that he knows her and appears hurt that she does not know him.

Not much longer into the storyline we find out that Molly has lived in Ridge City her whole life, contrary to what her parents originally told her, and has been in a long term relationship with Trent. Molly feels complete when around him and his sister, her one time best friend, Alicia. Alicia is a beautiful and open character who welcomes Molly back with open arms. Trent is willing to take time off from the police station to help Molly find out what happened that day five years ago to make her lose her memory and disappear for years, but he has secrets of his own.

Will Molly and Trent renew their relationship and love? Or will the past tear them apart again? Will Molly regain her memory before it's too late? I guess you'll have to read More Than Memories to find out! The book has a great mystery plot with some romance mixed it. The book is not too overly sweet with romantic trysts that cause the reader to skip pages. Quite the opposite. You'll fall in love with Trent and how much he cares for those around him. You'll wish that you could find a friend like Alicia and a lifetime full of memories like Molly. Definitely a good read, especially for a beach day!

Thank you for reading! Have an amazing day! -Melissa

I enjoy a mystery romance that has more to the mystery besides, “Will they or won’t they hook up?” type setting. To me if a book is labeled ‘mystery romance’ then the mystery should be something other than will the leading characters become a couple because we all know that in the end 99% of the time the leading couples do hook up and live happily ever after so how is that considered a mystery?

Or the mystery’s storyline of the book seems very familiar with just one or two parts changed. Or - yes another or - the mystery of the plot seems to be shoved in the back of the story while the romance is the main focus. There should be some kind of equilibrium as to where both the romance and mystery are equal partners in the book.

In More Than Memories, the mystery isn’t will they hook up but did they? Now that’s refreshing and unique. Because of that, I fell in love with the story.

Molly and Trent, the main characters, were realistic, charming and very believable. They had values and beliefs with none of the inflated happily ever after in stories you often read.

Out of the two characters, I fell in love with Trent. He was without a doubt the main star of the book in my opinion although the story was Molly’s. It was because of how Trent aided and cared for Molly that made him very unforgettable.

Yes, there was a romance between the two characters as Molly tried to uncover the truth to her past but the romance didn’t take away from Molly’s predicament and or the mystery of the book.

I highly recommend reading this romance.

On a side note, there were just a couple grammar errors, which didn’t in my opinion take away from the plot/characters, but I felt I should at least mention them. I still loved the story and will probably re-read the book again and again.

Molly has forgotten everything and everyone she has ever know and doesn't even know how it happened. So she heads to places her parents mentioned they have lived before they died in a car accident. In a little town in Oregon she walks into a police station with some questions and she runs into Trent. He can not believe the woman who walked away from him 5 years ago has just walked back into his life. But when he realizes she doesn't remember anything he decides he will make it his mission to find the answers that Molly needs to help her remember. And then maybe she will remember the love they shared.

Molly seems lost but strong at the same time. She really wants to remember but is afraid of what she might find out and you really feel for her. Trent is an all around good guy. They are both very likeable characters. You really end up wanting to know what caused her memory loss. And what traumatic event could have happened that makes her want to forget everything. And I will say while I did try to think of reasons I never went to the answer that was actually given. And while I might have changed a couple of the end "answers" if I had been the writer, the book was really well written and enjoyable. Definitely worth putting on your e-book reader list.

More than a promise by Kristen James a full length novel of love, life and desire.
I really love this author’s book. The protagonists are real, with real human frailties and insecurities and they are what I call good people despite or because of their humanity.
I loved the fact that the little girl kept yearning for a family containing her real biological mom and dad but that she grows up and is smart enough to realise that that might not work.
Dad has a dangerous life; he is off on undercover operations and this cause stress on a relationship far too young to handle any controversy. Can they make it work? Can she love his daughter as her own, live with not knowing if he will return from his next assignment, can she learn to cope with his ex wife, maybe even befriend her?
This is the basic plot of the story, and a good plot it is.
But that said, this is not why I give this book a 5 star in the eyes of lovers rating, I give it a 5 star because it has a happy ending. Because the characters grow, adapt and work at their lives. I give it 5 stars because it is a really nice, fun, light read filled with hope and love.

Molly Anderson stopped in Ridge City, like she did in many towns, hunting for years of her memories. She had a bad concussion and lost her memories but she knew she had a connection to this small town. She stopped at the police station and told them what she was looking for, someone who might recognize her. The receptionist called the sheriff out and he came around the corner and said Molly? His name was Trent Williams and he knew her but she didn't know him. She was so excited she thought she might be able to find out what had happened to her. What starts out as a short story turns into a complicated one as people and things start to click in her memory. With Trent by her side she knows she will get her memories back. A very good story

Two years after he parents died, and four yours after she lost her memory, Molly Anderson decided to go visit the towns her late parents have claimed she lived in. After several failed attempts of discovering who she is, she walked into the Police Station in Ridge City and comes face to face with Officer Trent Williams. Trent turns out to her her lifetime childhood friend, and so much more.

Molly learns she has a great group of friends to support her as she tries to uncover why she suddenly left her hometown with her parents, why she lost her memory, and who she really is.

The book didn't answer many questions, but it was still a great read with a great ending.

First of all I absolutely LOVED Trent... I mean seriously he is like the ultimate sweetheart!

More Than Memories was a good story about a love lost and then found. It was heartbreaking to watch these characters go through everything. Molly can "feel" something for Trent but she doesn't quite understand it. Then there is poor, adorable Trent who lost the love of his life and he chooses to let her begin to remember at a pace that allows her to remember on her own but with little pushes from him.

A sweet yet sad story!

Molly returns to her home town hoping someone will remember her and help her regain her memory. She walks right into the local police station, where Trent, who has loved her since the 2nd grade, is surprised to see her after waiting 5 years for her to return home.

Trent agrees to help Molly find out why she left Ridge City in the first place and help her remember her past.

Molly and Trent’s journey to discover her past is a sweet love story. A quick read that will reinforce your belief in the power of love.

I liked this book quite a lot. I was interested by the premise, I wanted to know why she couldn't remember anything, and I was extremely intrigued overall. Unfortunately, the wrap up in the end really got to me. The last few pages made me want to throw my Kindle. They were cheesy and unrealistic.

However, other than those last few pages, I truly enjoyed the book and will recommend it to others.

I loved this book, but essentially, the end disappointed me a little. It was a slow read in the beginning.. she hangs around trying to find if she remembers anything, she remembers a little bit here and there.. then all the sudden she remembers everything, this is what happened, and we all live happily ever after. What about Kenneth's body? I was really enjoying it and it just ended a little too abruptly for me. But good story, I really enjoyed it.

This was the first book I read on my Kindle that I fell in love with. I was engaged from page 1 and couldn't wait to learn more about Molly, their relationship, and what happened to her. The relationship between Trent and Molly was so sweet, and I never found it to be sappy or over the top like you sometimes find. I absolutely loved this book and still hold out hope that the author might write another story with these characters.

This story started off great but As others have said, the ending was rushed and things were tied up too quickly and easily. Also, maybe I've just been reading too many dark novels but I feel like the "tragedy" she couldn't remember wasn't that bad.. I was expecting something a lot more traumatizing. I did like the characters and I would have given the book 3-4 stars if the ending wasn't so abrupt.
