Do I know that, logically, there is definitely some stuff wrong with this book? 100%.

But man, I eat this shit up. This is my favorite kind of book--five hundred pages of just teenage girls being possessed by evil spirits. It was cheesy, but I loved it. I loved it. I didn't have any complaints while reading it; not really anything that made me want to question it. I was in it 100%, and to me, that's effective.

Though I did just look up what split pea soup looks like and between this and the Night of the Living Dummy books, Stine has been giving me a very wrong image of that in my head. But I don't care. This man was influential enough on my mind to make me think split pea soup looked entirely different, I'll give him kudos for that.

The First Evil:

Bobbi and Corky Corcoran have just moved to Shadyside and are looking to join the cheerleading squad. After some issues, the Corcoran sisters join the team, much to the dismay of the other girls. One day, they are on the bus heading off to perform somewhere when they are in an accident, which happens at Fear Street Cemetery, no less! Then, as expected, strange things start happening... accidents. Someone or something is out to get the cheerleaders!

So, I have never read the Fear Street Cheerleaders series, but I did sort of know about this evil spirit that haunts the cheerleaders. However, I didn’t know who it actually was, so that was nice. But then as I started reading and we came up to where the girls are involved in an accident, I thought it was gonna be super obvious who this said spirit actually was. But I was wrong! There’s more to the mystery of the evil spirit, Sarah Fear, and her death, which I found quite interesting. I did, however, guess way ahead of time who was possessed by the evil spirit. Totally obvious, in my opinion.

The mystery in this book was okay, but for the most part I had figured things out way ahead of time. But that definitely did not deter my enjoyment of the book! I am really looking forward to finding out more about this evil spirit and Sarah Fear!

The Second Evil:

One thing I love about this series is the whole mythos behind Fear Street and the Fear family! In this book, the cheerleaders visit the old burned down Fear mansion and practically have a seance in there! We also meet a new character, Sarah Beth Plummer, who helps shed some light on what happened all those years ago with Sarah Fear and the evil spirit that inhabited her. And even better, we get to meet an actual Fear in this book! A descendant of Sarah Fear herself! That was pretty cool.

The Second Evil was another fun and suspenseful addition to the wonderful Fear Street series. The evil spirit was back and we got to learn a bit more about it! I actually had no idea who it was possessing throughout most of the book, so it was fun guessing and then being surprised in the end. Overall, I really enjoyed this read!

The Third Evil:

The evil spirit is back once again! This time around, the evil spirit possess someone I never would have guessed! I was so surprised to find out who it was in this time. But it was very interesting see it in this perspective and see the internal struggle between host and evil spirit. However, there was one different thing that happened in this book that I didn’t really understand: this time the evil spirit actually let the host remember the things they did while being possessed. It was very strange because in the previous book, Kimmy did not remember at all being possessed, but maybe the spirit is growing weaker as time goes on...?

As always, I absolutely love the descriptions! They’re incredibly violent and kinda gorey... okay, it’s not that bad. But this is horror, so I love it! I also loved that shocking twist with who the evil spirit was possessing.

Another thing I loved about this is that we finally find out what happened to Sarah Fear and the evil spirit on the fateful day in which she died. We actually flash back and get to witness things first hand, which I absolutely loved seeing! It was very cool getting to see Sarah struggle to beat the evil spirit, but then ultimately die. I read the Fear Street Saga trilogy a very long time ago, but I remember absolutely loving it! I love getting these little tidbits about the Fear family from back in the day, and how the myths and legends of the Fear family and Fear Street were shaped! I just love it!

This was the first time I read a Fear Street book by R.L Stine. I read some of the goosebumps books when I was in elementary and middle school and was a bit freaked out by them but they were really good. I didn’t know he made young adult books as well. I’m glad I found out about it though. This book was interesting and a bit freaky at times. I liked that there were three books into one. I went through all it really fast, especially the last two books. It was pretty good in my opinion. This made me want to read the other Fear Street books that he has.

Teenage girls possessed by an ancient evil, cheerleaders possession, death and more. This is what is in RL Stine's first three books in the cheerleader series.
I bought this as a bind up of the first three. Read the first one in one sitting, corky and her sister are new at shadyside high and end up on the cheerleading team. But an evil that is unleashed one night terrorizes all the girls on the team. And after they think they have contained the evil look again. The next two books further tell the story of the cheerleaders and the horrible evil within.
If you are an RL Stine fan you won't want to miss this bind up or the other two cheerleader stories. I know there are something wrong with the story, but the first three were written in 1992 and if you go in with that mind set, the books jive. These are part of the Fear Street series, but can be read as a series on its own. So pick this up to day...

I've hit some sort of full fledged nostalgia attack. It started with the Fear Street Saga, which was my favorite of the Fear Street books when I was a kid and that propelled me into trying to remember the one about Sarah Fear. This series was it. Though, they're not so much about Sarah Fear as about the cheerleaders of Shadyside High who awaken an ancient evil that was once alive in Sarah Fear. That's probably all you really need to know about this book. Is it good? I mean, yes. I remember being compelled by the plot twists and eager to know what happens next in all three Cheerleaders books; The First Evil, The Second Evil, and (amazingly enough) The Third Evil. This time around I'm not sure if I was too old to be duped or I just remembered enough of the plot to know what was coming. Either way, they were still fun reads, making me remember why I loved this series as much as I did.

I read this book a long time ago, and for the 2016 challenge, I choose to read it again because I used to LOVE the Fear Street books. While I think this book would be good for someone in that age range, it's definitely not something for a 30 year old woman. There was the nostalgia factor, but beyond that I was just glad to be done with it. There really wasn't anything too scary about it, and I was already well aware of the great tragedy that happened within the story, so I found that I couldn't get myself to feel sad about it. I also felt that it was highly implausible, which subtracted from the desired outcome of the scene as well. Overall, I recommend this book, and related series, for teenagers and nostalgia seekers.

This had been among my most favorite Fear Street stories, even thinking why hadn't they made this into a teen horror movie, like the teen witch horror movie The Craft, even back many many many years ago. The atmosphere that I felt, and the vibe that I got from this trilogy, was similar to what I got from Lois Duncan's Summer of Fear, boarding-school-or-college themed horror fiction, or even from the Nightmare On Elm Street film franchise (especially the third film).

I loved this series when I was in middle school. Between this and 99 Fear Street, it made my reading list.
