"The Official Autism 101 Manual" by Karen L. Simmons is a mixed bag: some chapters (such as the ones by actually autistic contributors) are definitely better than others (such as the ones singing the praises of ABA and other shady practises). Overall, the good chapters outnumber the bad ones. I'm glad I read this book, but in all honesty I could only recommend it to people who already have a good understanding of autism, because a few of the ideas pushed in these pages are more than a little dangerous.
