I bought this one at a library book sale for one of my kids. It's an adapted version of Jack London's Call of the Wild, and I didn't know that when I purchased it. Maybe fine for a kid who still demands some pictures and a shorter book. I'm giving up on this one in favor of the original.

Also, I don't know why, but the cover image is reminiscent of "HELLO. YES, THIS IS DOG" to me.

Written from the dog's perspective. Good description of the harsh environment of the Alaskan gold, and how bad it was for the animals. The "call of the wild" aspects were rather dubious and less appreciated.

I didn't realize this wasn't the original version when I checked it out from the library! So, I enjoyed it, but I think I'll definitely have to read the original at some point.

We didn't quite finish this book which is why I didn't put a rating on it, but if a book isn't at least a 2 then I stop reading. I have too little time to trudge through a bad book like I used to. It was one I was reading to my kids. It was too descriptive of violent scenes for my boys to hear at this time in their lives. I'm sure it would be fine in a few years. I would not recommend this for young kids.
