Alexandre Dumas père, born Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, was a towering figure of 19th-century French literature whose historical novels and adventure tales earned global renown. Best known for The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, and other swashbuckling epics, Dumas crafted stories filled with daring heroes, dramatic twists, and vivid historical backdrops. Dumas was the son of Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, a celebrated general in Revolutionary France and the highest-ranking man of African descent in a European army at the time. The result was a string of literary triumphs, including The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, both published in 1844. The D’Artagnan Romances—The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte of Bragelonne—cemented his fame. They follow the adventures of the titular Gascon hero and his comrades Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, blending historical fact and fiction into richly imagined narratives. The Count of Monte Cristo offered a darker, more introspective tale of betrayal and retribution, with intricate plotting and a deeply philosophical core.
Dumas was also active in journalism and theater. He founded the Théâtre Historique in Paris, which staged dramatizations of his own novels. A prolific and energetic writer, he is estimated to have written or co-written over 100,000 pages of fiction, plays, memoirs, travel books, and essays. He also had a strong interest in food and published a massive culinary encyclopedia, Le Grand Dictionnaire de cuisine, filled with recipes, anecdotes, and reflections on gastronomy.
Despite his enormous success, Dumas was frequently plagued by financial troubles. I enjoyed this part as much as the first one! From my little experience as a series reader, the odd parts are always the best ones. Don't know why! 🤷♀️
It has the emblematic scene in the garden, between Mercedes and Monte Cristo! 🥰
I am sure I have seen a movie based on this book, other than the 2002 adaptation, because all the scenes are very clear in my mind, and this will hunt me for a while...
I am very curious to see how the story ends! 🤓

❤️Încă un volum care m-a cucerit de la primele lui pagini, deși mi-a fost destul de greu să-mi reamintesc personajele si legăturile exacte dintre ele, dupa ce am trecut peste acest hop am reintrat in lumea magica a domnului Dumas, o lume cu mister, cu intriga, multe secrete si o mare dorința de răzbunare.
❤️Am adorat cum Contele de Monte-Cristo este ca un păpușar sau ca un jucător de șah si cum ii aranjează pe toți pe tabla de șah exact dupa cum ii place si dupa cum are nevoie. Nu este nici măcar o singura mișcare, un singur cuvânt care sa nu aibă un scop precis, nu stiu dacă pana acum si-a pierdut cumpătul vreodată si sa riște sa facă macar o greșeală, totul este bine plănuit la el si stie deja ceea ce trebuie sa faca înainte ca adversarii lui macar sa-si dea seama ce se întâmplă.
❤️Totul imi place la aceasta serie, personajul principal, inteligenta acestuia, răbdarea lui, cumpătarea lui si bineînțeles faptul că mereu ii va apara pe cei nevinovati, dar in același timp nu va avea mila pentru cei vinovați! Mi se pare un personaj foarte complex, foarte bine conturat si care evoluează de la un capitol la altul din ce in ce mai mult.
❤️Va ramane cu siguranță in sufletul meu si deși vreau sa aflu ce se va mai întâmpla în continuare parca si regret știind ca mai am doar un volum si ma voi desparti de al meu Conte!

O III volume do Conde de Monte-Cristo.
As sugestões de perigo do II volume começam a tornar-se ameaças. Lentamente, vamos reganhando o fôlego que perdêramos quando chegámos a Paris. A cada capítulo as pontas ficam cada vez mais aguçadas e vão-se encostando lentamente ao pescoço das vítimas do Conde. Mais uma vez, ninguém coloca o mínimo obstáculo ao Conde, que usa a seu bel-prazer a fofoca e a posse de informação privilegiada para ir ameaçando os seus inimigos.
Danglars, apesar de ser um homem do mundo da banca, que sabe que a sua mulher anda a traí-lo, que sabe que informações são periclitantes pois acabou de se tramar com informações, decide atirar-se a pés juntos para a armadilha que o Conde lhe monta com o noivo para a sua filha.
Isto apesar de o próprio Conde reinsistentemente lhe dizer que não sabe nada de Cavalcanti, o que lhe devia servir de aviso a todos os níveis possíveis e imaginários.
Mas M. Dumas vai-nos entretendo, e de capítulo em capítulo, vamos seguindo em frente à espera da altura em que o Conde recolherá todos os seus recibos.

Provavelmente vou fazer um video sobre ele. O melhor livro que já li. Sem dúvida nenhuma. Narrativa incrivel, desenvolvimentos super bem feitos e se me dissessem ser uma historia real acreditaria (mas sabemos q quando sao baseadas em algo nao poderiam ser assim tão bem escritos). Incrível incrível incrivel. O unico defeito é o final vindo do nada. Esperava uma analise mental semelhante a Crime e Castigo de Dostoievski e foi a unica coisa que me deixou desanimada pois achava que a ia ter. Tirando isso, incrivel, incrivel, incrivel. Impossível largar depois de ler uma linha de qualquer um dos livros. Linguagem tao simples e tao bela. É simplesmente deslumbrante. Adorei mesmo

The third book is very good. I was a bit disappointed by the book 2. But book 3 is excellent. A lot of things is happening in each chapters, cliffhanger which made me not want to close the book. So many revelations !!!
