I won Crissy Calhoun's "Love You to Death- Season 2: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries" through GoodReads FirstReads, and it was a phenomenally detailed outline of the entire second season of The Vampire Diaries t.v. series. Each chapter outlined an episode starting with a quote from that episode, then detailing the episode in every aspect including the flashback moments of season 1 or a previous episode. Then after each synopsis and analysis of the t.v. show's episode there followed a comprehensive guide to key moments. The guide comprised of: Compelling Moments, Circle of Knowledge, The Rules, The Diabolical Plan, History Lesson, Bite Marks, Previously on The Vampire Diaries, Meanwhile in Fell's Church, Off Camera, Foggy Moments, Music, & Questions. Each section wraps up the chapter and leads perfectly to the next. Also included were pictures of the cast members off the set, the actors in still shots from an episode, and photos of a few of the many locations in the show. I wish there had been more of the still shots from on the set because I found the headshots of the actors too distracting.

First of all, I don't follow The Vampire Diaries as much as I would like to. I have missed some of the episodes for season 2. This book is great for someone like me who doesn't have the time to catch up with Vampire Diaries. It provides the summaries and highlights of each Season 2 episodes.

For those who are hardcore fans of The Vampire Diaries, this book is a great companion to Season 2. It offers background of the myths and legends that the Vampire Diaries is based on which the series do not provides, interviews with the casts, and a quick background of each cast members.

The preeminent guide to watching The Vampire Diaries! When I discovered Crissy's first book, I could not WAIT for the second. Though not as snarky as twitter or chatroom conversations that ultimately come about during and after an episode where we hash and re-hash what we think is everything, Crissy never fails to deliver! The "devil's in the details"--I particularly enjoy those fine points that seem to slip by the rest of us...the paintings on the wall (replicas of actual stolen works), the closetful of leather jackets, an ORANGE! I love her analogies and references to classic works of literature and history. They are always spot-on, and frequently things that never occurred to the viewer. The format is perfect--glad she kept it from the first book! The interviews, the timeline, the sidebars (which I cheat and save till last)...Crissy's book makes anticipation of the next season a thrill! Love the "previously on" and "compelling moments"...I may not always agree with the most compelling, but she certainly makes an excellent case! As a fan of the book series, too, I enjoy seeing the comparisons to Fell's Church. Really saves me from having to go look them up! p.s. I'm still looking for that geneaology/family tree chart I suggested last year before it turns into a forest! Kudos!

Crissy Calhoun continues her exploration of The CW’s hit series in Love You to Death: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries Season 2. Providing an episode -by-episode review, Calhoun deconstructs each one, discussing the themes, comparing the television series to the books, laying out the mythology as it unfolds, and poses questions that arise from the plot developments. Also included are spotlights on guest stars and pop-culture references, interviews with the fan community, a timeline of events in the series, and a summary of the Season 1 episodes. The format is a little changed from her previous companion; focusing more on the episode themes and plot, and adapting material from her webposts from when the season originally aired. Yet she provides the same great insights and passion for show. Love You to Death: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries Season 2 is a terrific guide that gives readers an in-depth look into this extraordinary television series.

This book was OK. I originally got this from a friend who was really into the show in order to try and get me interested, but, after reading it, still not overly interested. I tried to watch it on a few occasions when I came across it but it just never grabbed me (though I did see a clip, sent by the same friend, where they used one of my favourite songs from Within Temptation. That was a point in a potentially good direction). It was a nice little factoid book though.

Great, really in depth chronicling of each episode of the season. Really enjoyed this book and highly recommend. It's nice to watch each episode and then read the corresponding review/description.
