If it can be said that a novel is a direct reflection of its author, then we can safely say that Arthur Levine is a genius.
A brilliant teen, Johnny Oops approaches young adulthood with the certainty that he is destined for greatness...but then, as with so many of us, hormones get in the way. At first he gives in fully to the girl he loves, but it rapidly becomes obvious that his intellect will not be ceded entirely to young love or young lust. Before long, Johnny begins to interpret his emotions and indescretions in a philosophical way, but its not until he shares his burgeoning erotic theology with others that his world truly spins out of control.
Come join Arthur Levine's hilarious Johnny Oops as he staggers out into the world. Though the women all want him, it's possible that society isn't quite ready for his magnificent formulations of religion. Of course, we all know it's only a matter of time...just ask his psychiatrist, his wife and any of the many other wacky characters who populate this fabulous book.
Uniquely spun, Johnny Oops is fast-paced and lots of fun.

Don't be fooled by the cover. This is not science fiction but one of the best romps with an angsty teenager searching for himself through sex, psuedoreligion, sex and more sex. Wryly told, you cannot help but adore Johnny Ooops and hope that eventually he will find peace for his pysche, his soul and his manhood. If you liked Catcher in the Rye, if you loved A Confederacy of Dunces then you will adore Johnny Ooops. Highly recommended
"Johnny Oops" is a fun, quirky read filled with colorful characters and many laugh-out-loud moments. The author, Arthur Levine, has given us a witty, well-written social commentary with great character development and a smart, offbeat plot. I will leave it to the reader to discern whether Johnny is a charlatan, a sex maniac, or a prophet. I will say, though, that he is one heck of a comeback king!
