A gun firing. A man killed. Running for her life. That's all Robin Strand remembers of the shooting she saw. With fear-induced amnesia, she can't identify the killer, no matter what the police say. The only one who believes her is private investigator Jake Walters. And he's the one who steps in to rescue her when her safe house is discovered. As they struggle to stay one step ahead of danger, Robin needs Jake more than ever. With his faith and training as a guide, they work together to bring back her memory. Before the killer can ensure that she never remembers.
Accused of being an eternal optimist, I was born and raised in the Midwest and migrated to the Pacific Northwest a few years ago. I began spinning tales of intrigue and adventure when I was in grade school, and wrote my first book when I was eleven — a thriller that ended with a mysterious phone call the reader never heard!
My college sweetheart and I have been married for over 20 years and are blessed with two wonderful sons, a bossy kitty and feisty Golden Retriever.
When not dreaming up inspirational tales, I’m usually out hiking in the Cascade Mountains, enjoying a fine cup of tea with friends, or hiding out in a movie theatre. I love to hear from readers! hopewhiteauthor@gmail.com
I liked this book but there were a lot of editing errors in it that should have been caught. Time errors; the murder happened on a Friday night, an event was Sunday, yet the author said tomorrow, then two days later she was saying the murder happened last night, things like that. Several of these inconsistencies that had me wondering just what day it was supposed to be. Apart from that the story itself was quite good.
I enjoyed the references to prayer in times of stress and the story line was good. I felt like the author repeated herself too often reminding the reader of the characters' earlier traumas. I prefer the author make me remember and stretch and not spoon-feed me.
I recommend this book for those who want some romance, light-reading and a light mystery.
Even without knowing, our soul longs for God. Hope White weaves a suspenseful tale with faith, hope, and love. This LIS book is full of heart pounding action that will keep the reader in suspense to the end. "We're going to use her feelings for you to get her back...And kill her..." Will Jake get to her in time?
I find both of the main characters very likeable. That said, I would buy the Robin-Jake romance more if it occurred over a longer period of time. Also, the timeline didn't move too smoothly (there were a few jumps). However, Sketch is one of the best minor character I've read.
3.75 Loved it when I was 13, but now that im older and more mature, I prefer other books, and maturity levels. BUT, if you dont like spice or cursing, but you love mystery and romance, this is the book for you.
What if the only thing you remembered about your life was that someone was trying to kill you? This was Robin's life. Robin witnessed a brutal killing and ran for life right in to the path of danger. Then she is suffering from fear-induced amnesia and can't even remember who she is. Jake Walters is a P.I. who happened to be watching the building when he saw Robin fleeing for her life, he felt responsible for her well-being and intended on staying by her side to keep her safe until the case was solved. Multiple attempts were taken on Robin's life and she and Jake were continually trying to hide from danger!
Hope White did an amazing job with keeping the story unpredictable and enthralling! You never know who to trust or who the villain is or whether or not Robing and Jake will survive. Right from the start your heart is softened to Robin and what she is going through. Robin was my favorite character in this story because she is determined to not let the fear control her life. She is trying to deal with all the emotions of her memory coming back to her while trying to stay alive. She is strong confident woman and you don't often see that in the main women in stories.
There were a lot of spiritual threads throughout Witness on the Run. Both Robin and Jake had a lot of hurt in their lives and all through the story they are reminded that God is the source of all things. This book reminded me that we are stronger than we think with God's guidance in our lives; all we need to do is give him the control! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Inspirational Romance and Suspense!!
I received a copy of this book to read and review from the author. My review is not biased by the fact that I was given this book. I HONESTLY read and review any book whether bought or given to me. If I did not like the book I would definitely not give a rave review or recommend it.
Each time I read one of these Love Inspired novels I am amazed by how much I like them. I always look forward to reading these books and I was very anxious to read Witness on the Run. Once again, I was completely delighted with my reading experience. Hope has created a story that gets the reader’s attention right from the start and holds it throughout.
There is a lot of excellent suspense in this story, but that is just part of what I loved about it. Robin and Jake were very real characters and their chemistry felt natural. The romance element of Witness on the Run helped to reduce some of the tension of the suspense which gave the story a nice, balanced feel.
Jake was the perfect hero for Robin. Still dealing with the guilt and shame of not being able to protect his mother, Jake is determined to do everything he can to protect Robin and help her regain the memory she lost in the accident that Jake feels he caused. I really enjoyed watching their relationship and their faith grow during their stressful and difficult time. Robin and Jake both had obstacles to overcome in order to be ready to love and that brings this book to a very satisfying conclusion.
I really loved this book. I loved everything about it. The writing was strong, the story moved very fast. I loved the characters and I especially loved the Christian message. I highly recommend Witness on the Run. It is definitely going to be on my favorite books the year list. I can’t wait to read more from Hope White. I really responded to her writing and want to read more.
In the first book of the Port Whispers trilogy, we meet Private Investigator, Jake Walters. Jake tries to rescue Robin Strand as she runs away from the bad guys after watching a man get shot. But instead of helping her, she runs from him and is hit by a car. When she wakes up, she has amnesia that has to slowly return.
In the meantime, many are saying she's faking her amnesia and is actually part of the scheme that went down. She begs Jake to protect her and he takes her to his late mother's best friend's house. Caroline is a sweetie who is basically raising her teenage grandson who is unhappy at the home of his parents. Sketch is actually a pretty awesome character. His story actually stretches through all three books. He's a pretty important character throughout the series, and is very lovable.
There are several supporting characters that play big roles throughout the series. I really enjoyed how the author wrote these. Though I'm currently reading the last book, I'm sure I'll be satisfied...
The romance in this book was pretty sweet. The whole "transference" thing did get on my nerves big time, though. Everybody kept using that word, and it just didn't seem very realistic to me...
It took me a little bit to get into this book, but after a bit, I started to really like the main characters, and rooted for them to get together and win. The plot and the writing is a bit basic, but it's a fun and quick read. Good for the beach. The bad guys in the book are very stereotypical and only at the very end do you find out what is really going on and why so there is not a lot of character or plot development in that way. The book is really about the main two characters, Jake and Robin, and how while on the run from the bad guys, they grow to love each other and help each other get over some personal baggage they each have from the past. They use God and praying to also help them. I'm not a huge religious person but they religion and God stuff that is in the book is done in a light way - not overly religious and cloying which is nice. I think that is handled really well.
I won this autographed copy (which is cool) in one of the Goodreads giveaways, but that has not influenced my above review.
This riveting inspirational romance is the story of a young woman who has an accident which causes her to forget her life before. Unfortunately she witnessed a murder just before the accident and the police want to know what she saw. As the first person she sees after she is hit by the car is s man with the ability to protect her and she still has her sixth sense in working order, she hangs on to him - and the rest is history. Quite interesting history, I might add. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery where the characters acknowledge God.
I found both of the main characters very likeable, and the amnesia angle was handled very well. That said, I would buy the Robin-Jake romance more if it occurred over a longer period of time, and the timeline was a bit distracting (there were a few jumps I didn't quite follow). But this one definitely wins the prize for best supporting character in the teenager Sketch. He deserves his own book.
I started reading these "LifeInspired" book a few weeksago. I've enjoyed everyone of them. They aren't the type of books I usually read, but have enjoyed them thoroughly. Witness on the Run" was a good story with realistic main and secondary characters. I liked the ending. It didn't leave me hanging. Judie
Good book. Kept my interest with interesting plot turns and believable characters. Okay, some craziness ensues, but at least I like it when a vulnerable main character finds strength within herself in the midst of all the trouble.
