The Carlyle triplets are back in the spotlight and shaking up Manhattan.
Baby's decided that Manhattan looks good right now, and that includes J.P. With that decision made, she has to worm her way back into the heart of Constance Billard. All she has to do is revive the school's art magazine. Will her bohemian ways match the artsy direction of the magazine and push her further away from the elite crowd?
Avery's busy with board meetings with ladies at least fifty years older than she is. The almost daily meetings consists of gossip and very little else. It's hard to imagine that Avery's almost friendless, but will the last remains for her reputation be shot now that the word is out that she's never had a boyfriend?
Owen's having his own love troubles. He's still hung up on Kelsey, but since Rhys adores her, he's trying to stay away from her. But sooner or later, they're going to have to confront their emotions.

These books are pretty great for a fun study distraction. They're all drama, and everyone hooking up with everyone else. They make me want to watch Gossip Girl again but I don't have the commitment to start a whole tv series so I'll probably just keep reading one of these every few months instead. I think these characters are more fleshed out in book 2 and I find it easier to imagine them because they're not in the series so I don't have preconceived images of them in my head. These books aren't gonna win any awards but they're entertaining

I‘ve been reading gossip girl for whole 4 years now and it’s never disappointing me. Normally I don’t like all that relationship drama but gg is my exception. I’m really looking forward to finish this series :)

Baby and her mother Edy go to the school. She’s had a change of mind and decided she know wants to be in New Yoark and Constance. The principal says she can stay if she’ll do community work. After the meeting she meets up with JP and they get out of there (and go somewhere to make out). Meanwhile, Jack Laurent sees JP (her ex) kissing Baby and is extremely jealous. It goes into how crazy Jack’s life has been since her father cut her off and how she plans to get back at him (getting succesfu, writing a tell all book, taking her story to Ophrah, Set up a dance camp less privledged girls). She’s joined by Avery Carlyle, Sarah, Genevieve, and Jiffy (fer friends). They invite
Avery to go with them to a sample sale. Just a week ago its noted they were talking about Avery. So, they take a cab. Avery gets a call from Muffy Saint Claire. She says it’s Constance stuff”. Avery notices Jack is quiet and asks if she’s ok. She says perfect but then abruptly jumps out of the cab. A Euro-trashy dude wants to take her picture and eventually she allows this after he begs her and tells her she looks like a model.
Coach announces to the swim team the yearly auction. Rhys wonders if the only person that will bid on him this year is his mother and hopes she won’t tape the whole thing for her show. Coach finds out Rhys and Owen are single They’ll be the ones depended on to bring in the most money. The guys tell him he has to win her back. Rhys asks Owen what he thinks and Oven agrees (even though he’s relieved it’s been a week and nothings happened with his sacrifice). Rhys though has noticed Owen has been just as down as he has even tho he’s not hurting in the female department.
Sydney and Bby meet up at a bar. They’ll be working together on The Ranker. They talk about what it’s like to date JP. She finds o ut Sydney got roped into working on The Ranker too. Then they laugh together over a very bad poem someone submitted about Barney’s being a starway to heaven. Then Webber (Sydney’s boyfriend) shows up and the meeting is over. Webber invites her to an event that has to do with taking off their pants and running on a train platform in Grand Centeral. Webber is part of a group that does performance art. Baby has the idea to do a artsy photo montage thing for UR (Webbers group) for The Ranker.
Jacq’s mother tells her a Paris television show wants her. So, she goes over Genevive’s and rants about JP.Genevive wants to kow what’s up with all the sucking up she’s doing now with Avery. She tells her she’s the one that called the police at Avery’s party. Then she confides in her about Avery finding out that her dad cut her off. Genevive says her dad does this when one of her movies tanks. She doesn’t know why she thought they’d cut her off because her dad was an asshole. Jacq is relieved and suggests they go out and have drinks.
At Avery’s first meeting, the first thing they discuss is whether the uniform skirts should be midnight blue or navy blue. It took them a whole month to even decide this. One of the ladies has even fallen asleep. As the ladies argue, Avery thinks about what her friends are doing. Now that she’s in with the popular girls she’s sure that she’ll meet a sophisticated, hot, East Sider. The other ladies ask her to look out for Ester whose slipped out to drink. Avery thinks this is NOT what she signed up for. All the society ladies do is gossip, drink, and accomplish nothing at the meeting.
Rhys is having a formal dinner with his parents.Lady Sterling announces “Town and Countery” wants to do a spread on her and Rhy’s father. Kelsey will be included too but Rhys tells her it’s not a good idea. It’s not long before they figure it out what happened. Lord Sterling tells him it’s all apart of the game. Lady Sterling says he’ll have to win her back and wonders if she’ll be on the show. Then she dials up her producer. She starts to think up a “plot”. But Rhys rejects the idea of putting his relationship on blast for the public’s viewing pleasure. Lady Sterling says they just need time to reconnect and sugges using her stuio as “ambiance”. But Rhys thinks Central Park would be more Kelsey’s style. It’s where they first feel in love.
Because Owen hasn’t been seen with a girl and ignores all the girls who try to come on to him, the swim team tell him it’s ok and that they don’t mind that he’s gay. Owen tries to protest but he can’t tell them about Kelsey. So, he decides this might be a good cover. The next meeting Avery goes to is much the same. Edie suggests that she and her kids have a dinner party and invite all their friends. Then they can do an art project together. Baby goes to a secret bar with Webber and Sydney and gets acquainted with Mateo from Barcelona.
Because Genevive tells Jack’s other friends about her situation, she uses this to cut Avery loose and tell her she was the one that called the cops. The others don’t agree with what she did because her brother is hot. Genevive says he’s taken by Kelsey, but Jack thought he went with Rhys. But if this is true and Rhys and Owen are friends. Jack starts to come up with an idea. Jack sees owen and lets him know she knows about him and Kelsey. She wants him to pretend to be her boyfriend,
Rhys’s picnic starts off rocky, but Kelsey says she’ll give him another chance. Sydney and Baby decide to hold a fashion show with some of the Undergrounders. The boys will wear girls clothes and the girls will wear boys clothes. Mateo is also there. JP shows up. Baby hasn’t told him about the fashion show because she didn’t think he’d get it. It’s about gender preception. First of all he doesn’t fit in with his pretty boy looks. Then he doesn’t seem to be into it. So, he just tells her to call her when she’s done. When Owen hears Rhys and Kelsey have gotten back together and the guys wanna know if he’s with someone he tells them Jack Laurent is his girlfriend. Rhys suggests a double date. Jack shows up and in front of the other guys asks what she and Owen are doing and he tells her about the dinner party his mom is having.
Avery finds Jacq at her house and she and Baby pull Owen aside to tell him what Jacq did. He hears them but thinks they’re overreacing. She can’t be that evil. Avery walks away and says fine. If you wanna date Satan. Jacq ends up leaving after Eddy sits down with all of them and asks them who they’re going to the (auction?) with. She embarrasses Avery when she tells Jacq she’s never dated anyone. Jack ends up telling Owen all her issues when he walks her out. Again Owen’s sisters try to warn him about Jacq but he’s not hearing it and wishes they’d get off his case. Baby gets a text about a party. She invites Avery but when she hears it’s from the improv guys she says she’s not interested.
At the society meeting, Muffy tells Avery not to worry about having a date for the benefit. She needs to play the field and her time will come. Ester then shows her a picture of her handsome grandson Elliot. Not to be outdone,Muffy shows him a picture of her grandson Triston. It seems like all of em have a picture to show her. Jack and Owen meet Rhys and Kelsey for dinner at Three Guys. Kelsey acts standoffish to Owen and Rhys notices. He also notices there’s something off between Owen and Jacck. Meanwhile Own feels like he’s in hell watching Kat with Rhys. Owen abruptly leaves because of a “family emergency”.
Baby goes to meet JP and his parents for dinner at the Atlas Club The (waiter?) tells Baby she’s not appropriately dressed. Instead they eat at the bar. Tatyana invites her to go shopping with her for a new dress for the benefit. On the spur, Baby asks JP what if they make a pack that if one of them calls the other and suggests going somewhere like Barcelona they’ll just pick up and go. JP says he’s in. Avery chooses Tristan to be her date.. Basicaly Avery is happy to throw Tristan in Jack’s face. Baby is happy to throw JP in Jack’s face and Jack is happy to throw Owen in JP and Avery’s face (She kisses him in front of them). Tristan is allergic to the flowers and Avery’s perfume. She leaves after this and cancels there plans to go to the Met. Owen wins against Rhys at the auction when Jack buys him for six hundred. The Coach gets bought by Genevive’s mom who buys him for three thousand.
Rhys confides in Owen that the and Kelsey are going to do it on this night. Owen leaves and then Rhys and Jack leave together after there dates go missing. JP gives Baby a necklace that spells out L O V E but its just not her. She asks him if he wants to do the Barcelona. He says yes (and thus not knowing it saves himself from being dumped). Rhys and Jack find Kelsey and Owen in the bathrub kissing. Rhys punches Owen in the face and after this a security person comes in. They say it was just a dare and leave. Owen tries to explain but Rhys doesn’t want to hear it. Owen and Kelsey end up going to her place and Rhy to the hotel room he rented vowing not to be a fool ever again.
JP has a helicopter and a Rizer oom waiting but it’s still not her. She tells him she doesn’t think its going to work out. They’re just to different. She tells him he needs someone that will appreciate how amazing he is. She tells him she needs to fly and he calls her a cab (not upset by this as all). They agree to be friends. She gives him back the necklace. Muffy calls and tells Avery to come to brunch. On the way out she sees Owen’s brusied face. He says he’ll tell her about it alter. Avery is introduced to Ticky whose over the Metropolitan and finds out Miffy knew about Tristan’s allergies. She says she couldnm’t let her go out with Ester’s prick of a grandson. Avery’s about to walk away but Tickey says it’s an initation and offers her an internship. Jack sees JP and they start walking his dogs together. He tells her she should have told him about her dad and then tells her he missed her. JP kisses him and thinks she got everything she wanted,
My Thoughts:
Overall, I liked it better than any of the books in the original GG series because it’s not the same characters doing the same stupid things OVER and OVER and OVER but..
(Owne) The gay gimmick was kinda funny with Dan, but not so much with Owen. Maybe that’s why it was so short-lived in this book. I still give Owen a little credit because he tried to hold off, but I knew it wouldn’t last. In the end what happened was just what I figured *would* happen. So no surprises there.
(Avery): I just felt like she deserved everything she got because Avery just strikes me as shallow. The whole reason she wanted Jack and her friends (friendship) is bbbecause shee thinks the popularity will help her get a boyfriend. Over half this book is Avery worried about getting a boyfriend and not having one for the benefit. Then when she *does* get one what does she do? She dumps him because he has ALLERGIES. I mean don’t get me wrong snot coming out of Tristan’s nose was a little extreme but how heartless can you be? That’s like dumping someone after they tell you they have diabetes or cancer or asthma. And then shallowness must run in the family because
(Baby) Do you know how many ladies would like a guy that gives them expensive jewelry and up and on the spur when you tell them lets get out of here, they’ll have a jet and nice hotel waiting? How STUPID can you be. She’s annoyed because he calls her beautiful? Although sadly it *did* feel like he was still trying to be in a relationship with Jack and maybe that’s what Baby felt. Looking it in a “My Name Is Not Susan” kind of way I can understand this a little better. But all I’m saying is guys like this don’t come around that often. Even though I do admit that JP never really seemed to have much of a personality.
(Jack) I have a new dislike for Jack because she reminds me of someone in my family that just does evil things for the sake of doing evil things to people just to get revenge for reasons that aren’t even all that important and it’s just like LET IT GO ALREADY! Don’t blame Baby because she got with your boyfriend. If he was really *yours* he wouldn’t have gotten taken so quickly by a random girl. Then I’m not even sure what her issue is with Avery. Popularity? SMH

The whole reason she wanted Jack and her friends (friendship) is bbbecause shee thinks the popularity will help her get a boyfriend. Over half this book is Avery worried about getting a boyfriend and not having one for the benefit. Then when she *does* get one what does she do? She dumps him because he has ALLERGIES. I mean don’t get me wrong snot coming out of Tristan’s nose was a little extreme but how heartless can you be? That’s like dumping someone after they tell you they have diabetes or cancer or asthma. And then shallowness must run in the family because
(Baby) Do you know how many ladies would like a guy that gives them expensive jewelry and up and on the spur when you tell them lets get out of here, they’ll have a jet and nice hotel waiting? How STUPID can you be. She’s annoyed because he calls her beautiful? Although sadly it *did* feel like he was still trying to be in a relationship with Jack and maybe that’s what Baby felt. Looking it in a “My Name Is Not Susan” kind of way I can understand this a little better. But all I’m saying is guys like this don’t come around that often. Even though I do admit that JP never really seemed to have much of a personality.
(Jack) I have a new dislike for Jack because she reminds me of someone in my family that just does evil things for the sake of doing evil things to people just to get revenge for reasons that aren’t even all that important and it’s just like LET IT GO ALREADY! Don’t blame Baby because she got with your boyfriend. If he was really *yours* he wouldn’t have gotten taken so quickly by a random girl. Then I’m not even sure what her issue is with Avery. Popularity? SMH

I am enjoying reading this series but the Carlyes Triplets and the teens are around them are having exactly or very similar experiences to the teens in Gossip Girl. These are different kids and even though they are living in New York city, there's got to be more for theme to do.

This book actually picked up steam and really cemented what was going to be good about the new generation is some expected ways.
One character has a great moment that bascially will explain everything to come--a Scarlett O'Hara moment that cemments their morailty in a way that readers will get...
One character manages to make the series less shallow and more open to the average reader. It is nifty moment that I really found to make me feel better about investing in this world.
And the action really picks up and establishes where these characters will go and why we will care. They managed to create the start of a strong tie between characters ala Serena and Blair that is what kept me reading the first series.

This book is horrible - it's an insult to your intelligence! Can I give it no stars? I had to read this for a young adult literature class, and I couldn't stand it. There is so much needless swearing, the characters are shallow and so self-involved. One of the characters is named Baby! Ugh. Don't bother. I read the first Gossip Girl when I was in high school, and I liked it then, and from what little I remember about it, it was better than this one. But, I'm not sure if I would still like the first one if I were to read it again.

I think at this point, I just wanted to read this whole series just out of nosiness. It was very clear that von Ziegesar had employed someone else to write this for her as they obviously tried very hard to mimic her writing and failed, this was evident to me from the very first chapter.
These are meant to only really be trashy, light reads and that's why I do really enjoy them, when I first read them I was going through A-levels and just wanted something quick and easy to read. But if you want a book with substance, don't go for these.

Now that Carlyle triplets have started to establish a name for themselves on the Upper East Side they continue to cause trouble around town. Owen befriends a guy named Rhys who each fall for the same girl; Baby finds love in another’s boyfriend, and Avery finds power in another’s popularity. This novel takes New York by storm and we, the reader, get to find out more about who these characters are. The plot was alright; nothing extraordinary happened, everything that happened was filled with drama. It was definitely entertaining, and some plots took readers through a bit of a loop that weren’t seen coming, but for the most part plots were predictable, but that is what made this a guilty pleasure read. What was done well was the development of characters. Characters who were simple and two dimensional broke out in this novel and became more three dimensional. They became more than just who they were dating, and started to figure out who they are as people. Ultimately, it’s another Gossip Girl novel that takes the reader through the drama that is the Upper East Side.

I’m convinced Avery is Blair and Baby is Serena.

Baby makes friends and lovers fast. She doesn’t want to be like the other Upper East Side girls and even rejected J.P. Not a bad thing as J.P. and Jack pretty much reconciled and became a couple again.
The love triangle of Owen, Kelsey and Rhys finally came to an end. It had such a good build up but the ‘expose’ part happened too quickly. Owen’s heart is at peace. Now I’m curious about Rhys. He’s been the good guy for the first two books. I feel like we’ll see a new side of him in the next book which I can’t wait to read.

I didn't know this second Gossip Girl series existed, but now that I'm two books in and there appears to be only 4, I'm gonna finish them evem if they're pretty awful. The new cast is fairly forgettable save for Jack, the new-Blair type ballerina whose daddy cut her off, and Baby, the wannabe hippie whose main character trait seems to be messy hair. The plots are pure high school soap opera. 2 stars because they're good background, mindless reading noise amd theyre quick, so maybe they'll help me reach my reafing goals, which I'm way behind on for 2019.

Ein Buch aus einer Reihe, von der ich nie gedacht hätte, dass ich jemals irgendwas damit zu tun haben werde.
Eigentlich war es ganz Lustig, nur ernst nehmen kann ich weder die Charaktere, noch die Handlung. Ich kann natürlich nicht sagen, inwiefern die Menschen der High Society wirklich so ticken, wie hier geschildert, aber wenn auch nur ein wenig davon zutrifft, dann will ich kein Teil dieser oberflächlichen, idiotischen und verblödeten Welt sein.
Aber trotzdem hat das Lesen, wie gesagt, auch irgendwie Spass gemacht. Man muss ja auch nicht immer alles bierernst nehmen.

Je remarque que je m’attache et accroche davantage avec les personnages depuis que ça ne parle plus du tout des personnages qui existent aussi dans la série, et qu’on est uniquement concentrés sur les Carlyle (probablement parce que ça ne bouscule plus mon imaginaire). Je crois que je retrouve un peu ce qu’on vient chercher dans ce type de roman : beaucoup beaucoup de légèreté. Je suis assez curieuse de la suite donc j’imagine que c’est positif ! (Le concept de Gossip Girl n’a toujours aucun intérêt, on l’a presque oublié)

A lot of unnecessary drama but why is it so damn entertaining. I knew the thing with Owen and Kelsey would explode eventually but I expected him to do a bit more apologizing. Baby and JP fell apart fast and boy did he move on fast. And someone get Avery a girlfriend.

This book made me read it slowly. It was so romantic and breathtaking. I wanted to be able to intake it all.. was inspired by Hendrix and The Care and love she gave to her friends and family. Beautiful job. Great read.

Owen Rhys için Kelsey ile konuşuyor ve sadece tek gecelik bir şeydi diyerek başından savuyor. Baby iyice J.P. ile kaynaşıyor ve işler Avery için iyice kızışıyor. Seri yine Gossip Girl tadında olaylarıyla devam ediyor. Bana göre Avery tam bir Blair, Baby tam olarak Selena ve Owen da aynı Nate gibi bir çocuk. Yazar sanki farklı karakterler yaratmaktan korkmuş ve karakterleri aynı bırakıp sadece isimleri değiştirip kardeş haline getirmiş gibi. Mesela anneleri de aynı Humphery'lerin babası gibi fakat Selena'nın annesi gibi zengin. Bir çok karakteri birleştirmiş gibi hissettim ama yine de keyifli bir seri. Açıkçası sonsuza dek sürse sıkılmadan okurum bu seriyi.

So, I don't know if this Annabelle Vestry person is actually writing these books or if this is just another "Kate William," but whoever is writing these sure highbrow'd up this one! I enjoyed references to yes, Vassar, but also concepts like heteronormativity and the male gaze. Honestly, do teens and tweens actually read these books? And if they do, weirdly, good for them. I hope they're looking up the longer words.
I will say, this one started off slow for me -- I mean sheesh, I brought it back and forth across the country with me and then let it sit in my apartment for a good six weeks before I even cracked it open. The characters are too generically attractive, and, more problematically, share too many of the same initials (I mean, there's two J's and a J.P., for goodness' sake!). But once I'd finally sorted out the various characters, this one actually was pretty enjoyable -- surprisingly so, even. Though I'm not sure how well it'll play out over the course of the series, their breakups, makeups, and especially girlfights are pretty entertaining.
They have made a big point about how the characters are all high school juniors, so it's possible they're hoping this series will linger on a bit longer than the original (for which I'm sure they kicked themselves repeatedly about how the first three books covered significantly more of the school year than the first seven or so It Girl books). Time-wise the Carlyles are definitely taking it slower than the original (though quicker than the glacial pace of TIG), as we're just at the end of September now. What will October bring? Hopefully, a clearer differentiation among the characters -- and more of the secondary characters, who bring in comic relief and get some of the better lines.

Another dip into the super glamorous lives of the teenagers of the upper east side. I found this book to be just okay. The writing is still often distracting and a little disorientating by its sudden pov changes. I believe this is the ghost writer trying to emulate the original so I don't think that is going to change any time soon.
As a sequel it was pretty decent. A nice return to the characters that I became interested in during the first book.
I personally find it a little annoying that poor Avery Carlyle can't seem to catch a break. I know that they are making her an underdog and that most people will root for her. I certainly do but it seems like every time something good happens to her it instead turns into a slap in the face. In fact this whole book was a downer for her. At the end she was rewarded with a rather prestigious intern position but I can see this just being one bad turn for her after another. It seems to me that the author needs to give her some small victories because at the moment its a little obnoxious.
Owen. I was so pleased at the end of the book because he finally got together with Kat. There is chemistry there and I really like them. Poor Rhys! I felt so bad for him at the end.
There was not enough Jack development this book. I really like the idea of Jack and Owen together, if Owen can see her for who she really is. He could be such a good influence on her. I want to peel back to layers of her bitchiness and reveal the insecure girl that lays beneath. I want to see her be vulnerable with someone.
Baby is the least interesting of the triplets to me. She's just too flighty and I know that's supposed to be some of her appeal. Compared to the other two I find her dull as dishwater.
Still going to carry on with the series because its a light interesting read and I enjoy the tales of love.

Out of The A-List, The Clique, and The It Girl series, the Gossip Girl series is my favorite one. Gossip Girl books are trashy, light reads that are my escape from series books that have the kind of messages that parents would approve of.
You Just Can't Get Enough is the second book in the Gossip Girl spin of series, The Carlyles. In the first book you where introduced to the main characters. Baby: the sweet one who does who own thing, Owen: the playboy, Avery: the girl who just wants to be accepted into this Elite world, Rhys: the sensitive and nice one, and Jack: the queen of UES who most of the time can be complete bitch, though most of the time she just using this cover as hiding from the vulnerable person she is on the inside. This probably sounds like the original series with characters with different name, but in truth this new characters stand on their own in how they are and the problems they have.
In You Just Can't Get Enough you get to know the characters better and get wrapped up in their glamours lives once again. The plot could be a bit unoriginal at times, but made the book go smoothly most of the times. The characters got some more substance, I have to say, this time around. Such as, Jack, finally admitting to her friends that she was poor not worrying anymore what they would say. Though, this good thing quickly got turned around when she used it to get Avery kicked out of her group.
Overall, You Just Can't Get Enough was a quick and fun read that I truly enjoyed. Even though this series gets a bit repative at times, I 'll probably be getting the next book in the series, Take A Chance On Me, next May. So, I can see what happens next in the Upper East Side world.
