The author found widespread and convincing evidence for the survival of a hunter-gatherer culture in the island up to the time of the Spanish conquest. At this same time much of the coastal Philippines was already occupied by sophisticated maritime populations living in villages and associated with agricultural-based economies. No ownership marks.
