James Patterson is the most popular storyteller of our time and the creator of such unforgettable characters and series as Alex Cross, the Women’s Murder Club, Jane Smith, and Maximum Ride. He has coauthored #1 bestselling novels with Bill Clinton, Dolly Parton, and Michael Crichton, as well as collaborated on #1 bestselling nonfiction, including The Idaho Four, Walk in My Combat Boots, and Filthy Rich. Patterson has told the story of his own life in the #1 bestselling autobiography James Patterson by James Patterson. He is the recipient of an Edgar Award, ten Emmy Awards, the Literarian Award from the National Book Foundation, and the National Humanities Medal.
James Patterson is one of my favorite authors. He is definitely the master of the page turner. I have read a few of his stand alone books and they were good. But the Women's Murder Club series is excellent. I love the character building, the plots, the surprises, and suspense. These are a must read for those who like murder, suspsense, who-done-it, with romance mixed in. Each book has several investigations going on at once - never a boring moment.
2nd chance is one of a series of James Patterson's "Women's Murder Club" Crime mystery novels. His works are now usually done with the assistance of a 2nd author, his name still rakes in the readers while others do much of the heavy lifting. Somewhat of a "chick book," mushy reflections of the heroine's mixed love-hate relationship with her dad. Good easily digestible forensics for civilians, and the nice short chapters I've grown to like. My rating: ☆☆☆☆
This is a quick read that kept my interest with a few surprises. It’s a good vacation book - easy to pick up, put down and pick back up without missing a beat.
1st to Die (Women's Murder Club #1) - 4 stars Lindsay Boxer is an inspector with the San Francisco Police Department and is on the trail of a deranged serial killer targeting couples right after they get married. While battling her own personal issues, Lindsay has to push through to be able to catch the killer before more people die. While on the case she soon discovers a group of women that help her out more than she ever thought they would.
I thought it was interesting that James Patterson choose to write about a group of women, each in very male dominating careers, but thriving all the same. He was able to embody the inequality and give the women a strength of character that really elevated them.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. There were definitely some characters I liked better than others, definitely Lindsay, she was dynamic and strong.
2nd Chance (Women's Murder Club #2) - 3 stars Months after the first book, Lindsay Boxer is just trying to get her life back in order. When a series of murders target the African american community Lindsay brings the girls back together to try and figure out the identity of the killer before more bodies start piling up.
Not as good as the first book but I was still interested in the story and characters. I like Lindsay Boxer and her fearless attitude. I like the twists and turns in the plot that Patterson presents, the reader never really knows where the story is going or how it is going to end.
3rd Degree (Women's Murder Club #3) - 4 stars War is on. Lindsay finds herself in the middle of yet another series of kills and this time the killer is bent on starting a war.
I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than the other ones in the series so far. This one kept me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time and I felt as a reader I was more interested in this plot line the the others. There were also a lot of surprises in this book for me regarding the characters. Some of the plot points went by really fast but Patterson was still able to keep the reader (or at least me) invested in the overall story.
Patterson's characters are always fully developed people that it feels as if they could be in the next room. Same here, fun interactions and scary mysterious problems. At the end you are relieved and on the saga goes to the next book.
Patterson's characters are always fully developed people that it feels like they could be in the next room. This series, I usually avoid series, has fully developed people that it feels as if they could be in the next room. Fun interactions and scary mysterious problems. At the end there is relief and a smile. On to the next!
The first few books (where James Patterson is writing from the viewpoint of a woman) are a little hard to get through (come across exactly as how you would picture a man writing as a woman), but the story is good overall.
This set contains the first three Women's Murder Club mysteries.
1st to Die was the strongest of the three, and it wasn't all that good. Just married couples are murdered. We are introduced to Lindsay from the SF Police, Homicide division; Clair, the medical examiner and Lindsay's best friend; Cindy, a reporter with the SF Examiner newspaper who worms her way into the investigation; and Jill, an assistant DA. They meet to solve the murders outside of official circles. This was a fairly decent mystery with a few twists.
2nd Chance: A shooting at a church ends with one fatality, a young black girl. Across the bay, there was a recent murder of a black woman. Both were related to cops. As more bodies stack up, Lindsay and her club try to put the pieces together. Lindsay acts very stupidly in a number of situations. I hated this one.
3rd Degree: Wealthy and influential people are killed. A calling card is left with them. Is it a terrorist group or an individual? Again, Lindsay goes off halfcocked. This audio book had a lot of sound effects, I find that distracting. I didn't like this one either.
I'll probably not read any more Patterson. I haven't liked the other books by him I've read in the past.
I enjoyed all the books 📚 in this set. 1ST TO DIE: I love ❤ James Patterson Alex Cross series, so I decided to check out this Women's Murder Club series. This 1st book's story line was good & sick. I really enjoyed the surprises in this story. I felt sorry for Lindsay. I really enjoyed the scenes with Lindsay & her friends. I thought the killer was really smart & sick. I really enjoyed the ending. 2ND CHANCE: This 2nd book's story line is good but it got me kind of mad 😠. I loved the surprises this story had. I was happy 😊 for Lindsay & Cindy. I loved Lindsay's bravery. I thought killer was was good & smart. I loved the ending. Awesome job Mr. Patterson I'm loving this series. 3RD DEGREE: This 3rd book's story line didn't hold my interest like the other 2 books did. This 3rd book started good. One part in this story really shocked me & made me tear up. I liked what Lindsay said to Jill's husband. I felt so sorry for Jill. Even though I love the women's club this story was just okay for me.
Mr. Patterson is on my top list of authors to follow. He writes pulse-pounding, mind-blowing thrillers and mysteries that take your breath away and hold you spell bound from the first page to the last page. Lindsey Boxer is one of his characters I cannot read enough about.
Just finished books 1 thru 3, and it’s pretty good. Lots of twist and turns. But what’s funny is how much these are a lot like the Rizzoli and Isles novels. So I pretty much enjoyed.
had been told this series would be something I would like. Turns out it was. It has a good flow and you want to keep reading to find out what happens next.
Love James Patterson......didn’t remember reading book one but it came back and of course I cried for Chris dying 3 books in one not bad....great books enjoy
