Latent Homoerotic Desire: A Homoerotic Romance Novella

Rate this book
Dear Reader,

In the interest of doing something new, I have decided to write a series of homoerotica novellas, entitled Homoerotic Romance Novellas. It is a mixture of romance and homoerotica. Each novella will revolve around a specific theme. This is the first one and will explore latent homoerotic desires.

Latent Homoerotic Desire is the story of Tristan, a man who realizes that he likes men more than woman, and decides to pursue a steamy but stormy romance with Lance, a hunky personal trainer. But, obstacles arise in the form of Lance's repressed homosexuality. Can Tristan persuade Lance that they could be happy together? Or will their story end in heartbreak?

Latent Homoerotic A Homoerotic Romance Novella explores the passion and purity of homosexual man love.

"I peeked in and saw the outline of Lance’s muscular body through the sliding glass shower door. Now, I felt like a peeping Tom, but I didn’t care. Just one glance of his muscular body made me wild with desire. I wanted to run my hands all over them, just feeling the meat and flesh. I wanted to cup my mouth on his nipples and just suck on them like it’s the end of the whole freaking world. I wanted to kiss his mouth and suck on his tongue like a horny animal.
But, I didn’t. Just yet. I stood there and watched quietly.
The steam made it hard to see clearly, but I did see one repetitive motion. Lance was tugging on something on his lower body.
Could it be? Was he jerking off in the shower?
I squinted, straining to see. I saw jerky, repetitive motions.
My suspicion was confirmed. Yes, he was. He was indeed touching himself in the shower. My dick moved around in my briefs.
I realized that I could just jerk off to the sight of him jerking off.
I heard him say something, but I could not make out what it was. I moved an inch closer and turned my ear toward the source.
“Tristan,” he whispered. “Oh, Tristan, you’re so hot.”
My eyes widened, and I smiled. Did I hear him right? Did I hear him say my name as he was massaging his own cock?
This was too good to be true."

This is my first time reading Nathan's work. I thought it was going to be erotica and all about sex. But it wasn't. It was very emotional and I really felt for Tristan. I even felt for Lance even though I really wanted to choke him most of the time.  Although there was a lot of sex, there was still some angsty drama mixed in there, too.

The story was a little choppy in some areas, but I really enjoyed it. Tristan's voice had me hooked in from the beginning. I just had to know the outcome between him and Lance.

Unexpected / Off Topic moral of the story: Don't come between a woman and her cookies.

I was lucky enough to receive this in a contest. I really wasn't sure what to expect. I thought there would be lots and lots of sex but really there wasn't. I enjoyed the style of the book which seemed almost like a diary. Even though the book portrays one MC's thoughts and not the other the author does a good job giving a glimpse into the other MC. It isn't much since the story is short and they are together so little time. I couldn't help but feel for the two men. The situation gives you a real glimpse into two different ways homosexual men might deal with their feelings. It's a view that in most books I read isn't as prevalent in my thoughts while reading. I look forward to more writing by this author. There were very minor editing problems that I'm sure will work out as the author grows and develops. I am sure I'll enjoy his future works for the mental looks that most erotic romance doesn't give me:)

The style in which this novella is presented is really quite unique and different from anything I’ve read to date. Similar to the book’s blurb (Dear Reader…), the story comes across as if you were reading Tristan’s intimate diary entries or were hearing an audiotape of him reading them to you. Another unique (for me) quality of the book was the choice of vocabulary, which gave certain passages an almost elemental feel. I was able to empathize with Tristan’s ups and downs in recognizing he was gay, his first joyful experience with another male, and falling for someone who was struggling with the reality of his own sexuality. Despite being able to empathize, this wasn’t a highly emotional or angst filled read. All in, I found it enjoyable due to the different aspects mentioned above.

This is the first book by Nathan Morissey I've read and I have to say overall I enjoy it. While there were one or two inconsistencies in the backstory of the main character and a couple of slightly contrived interactions, it was quite an interesting tale of love and acceptance. The thing that impressed me the most was the unique voice the author used, it was very masculine and edgy and really added a lot to the feel of the story and character portrayal. Oh! And this one's definitely on the chilli pepper end of the MM Romance heat scale...that was nice too! :D
