The choices in ready-to-wear lingerie can be limited, especially for petite or plus-sized women. Quality at an affordable price is even harder to come by. Sewers can create a wardrobe of comfortable and attractive undergarments with this book. It includes complete instructions on fitting; as well as essential information on fabric selection, special notions, and construction details.
Was this secretly native advertising for J. Crew? Also includes a lot more about embellishing pieces than adapting basic patterns to make different garments. Helpful for making the basics seem approachable tho
This book is more inspiration than how-to, although there are instructions and techniques throughout. If I was new to these techniques, I would need deeper instructions than these are, especially in the bra section. The author relies heavily on her own closet, and she appears to be pretty small, so although there is some lip service to larger cup sizes, there is nothing useful about differences in technique or drafting for them. (The "...that fits" in the title refers to the drafting of a halfslip, panty, and camisole, not the act of fitting.)
Also, the author *really* likes a camisole, especially if it's stretch velour.
This book may be worth seeking out for its list of resources, even though some are likely gone by now.
